Excited About Working Out

I'm super excited about getting back into working out. I've been trying to do it on my own and have made decent progress the last week or so but I really needed more motivation. And thanks to my friend, Samantha, we are starting a meet up to work out with several ladies in our community. We'll be doing Zumba three times a week and I plan to do strength training as well. I'm also going to try to get some running in. I have got to get into shape before the Color Run in October!

Way Off Track

Wow, two kids later I have gotten way off track with my fitness. After the birth of our first I halfway started getting back into shape, but found excuse after excuse not to hit it full force. Now that I am 4 1/2 months postpartum with our second child I am finding it harder and harder to make time for myself. I have stopped making excuses and am forcing myself to find time. I am tired of being so out of shape and ready to be the healthy me in my profile pictures. It is time to get serious!

Big Surprise - More reason to stay fit

My husband and I recently found out we are expecting. We are super excited! I still want to stay on track with my fit lifestyle. Eating healthy so far has been easy. I feel myself leaning even more towards fruits, vegetables, and other healthy snacks since we found out. I haven't been working out though. I'm honestly not sure what I can do without putting stress on the baby. Any advice? I searched for a good prenatal exercise dvd but was not impressed with anything I found.

    Healthy eating is one of the very best things you can do for your baby. Of course I don't know about adjusting calorie intake - that's a good question for your doc.

    emoticon that's fantastic news emoticon When I was pregnant with my last baby who is now 9 months old I walked 4 to 5 times a week for an hour. I lost a lot of weight and it wasn't at all stressful. Apparently gentle exercise like that is also very good for the baby emoticon

    walking, yoga, swimming, and biking are probably all okay, especially this far out. i know of people who ran through most of the pregnancy, but i think that's only recommended if you have a mileage base before you get pregnant. definitely talk to your doc and check out

I agree that asking your MD your questions about exercise and activities. I am a mom but the MD is the expert.

    You can continue with any exercise that you may have been doing (walking, running, yoga etc..) Your doc will probably recommend not picking up new activities that you aren't used to. I actually continued to kickbox through both my pregnancies (with a partner holding pads for me). Congrats and best wishes!

Getting back on track...and then some

Okay, lately I HAVE NOT been sticking to my healthy lifestyle. I've been using the excuse of being too busy to eat healthy, workout, etc., etc. Today is the day I make a change (again). I'm not just going to aim for working out on a regular basis and eating healthy foods, I'm actually going to plan out what and when I eat. I've been reading about eating clean. Although I don't think I could stick to eating clean 100% (okay I could but wouldn't want to), I want to eat clean for the most part. So here goes...

    To follow up on that point, I have been doing really well over the Summer, but now as my days are starting earlier and ending later it gets tough. To me it all comes down to planning and preparation so when you hit those times when you just want to hit the snooze or binge, you can battle through it.

2010 Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the cure

I am so very proud of my husband. He has really taken hold of a new healthy lifestyle and I am lucky enough to be along for the ride. If I had the willpower and dedication he has I would look like the best looking fitness model out there. He RARELY strays from his diet and never skips a workout. He even makes time to exercise during his 24 hour workshifts. He is truly remarkable.

A couple of nights ago he told to mark my calendar for the 3-Day Susan G. Komen walk. I can't wait to have this experience with him. The 3-Day walk is something that I have always wanted to do. I've heard that it is amazing and wonderful, but also that it is a big ordeal. Either way, I can't wait! Our team name is Miracle Walkers. This name evolved from Miracle Workers because all of the small things we do to help can create miracles to Miracle Walkers because one of my friends participating said it would be a miracle if she can walk the entire 60 miles. So as we miraculously walk that far, we will be creating our own miracle.

Here is a link to my 3-Day Walk page. I'm not sure how much time I will be able to dedicate to the page, but I do plan to keep a blog of my journey. I registered yesterday, fixed my personal page, and create my first blog. So far, so good.

    Good for you! I wanted to do the walk in Chicago, but then i saw that, I believe $2500 pledge. I was not sure i could collect that much the terrible salesperson that i am. And I did not want to get stuck having to get up the rest myself so I reniged. Is that how it works??? I may have misunderstood..... emoticon
