With health issues getting me down, I need to start pushing myself to get out and walk again. It's kind of a double jeopardy situation. Too much pain for exercising, but lack of exercise will not help the pain! emoticon So I will slowly begin again, adding minutes each day.
At least I've begun to eat healthy again, and will continue to do so. emoticon
So, here I go again, still pluggin and refusing to give up!!! emoticon
I CAN and I WILL do this!!! emoticon

Sounds familiar! It's just one of those paradoxes of life, like the one where the more tired you feel, the more you need the exercise! It really helped me to commit to "just 10 minutes" of exercise. Usually if I start, I'll go on longer than that, but if I really don't want to do more, then at least I got 10 minutes. Maybe it would help you? Good luck!

Keep walking, girl! If it is your knees or hips that hurt, you might want to try Nordic walking sticks! They are best thing ever! They redistribute your weight and work your core as you walk, so you can go farther and faster without stressing your legs. I hope you feel better! Cheers!

Where's the warm weather?!!

Sunday, May 26, 2013

This time of year, I usually find it easier to get in shape, because of my love for the outdoors, long walks, hiking in the woods/mountains, and outdoor grilling. Memorial day weekend for us, usually includes our first big family cook-out; celebrating the unofficial start of Summer. I like to grill marinated lean meats and veggies. We also include big, healthy salads. Dessert would include watermelon and other fruits. So for me, it's so much easier to stay on plan when the weather is warm. I just wish it would get here!!! No walk yesterday, due to drizzle and cold. Today we woke up to 39 degree temps. YIKES!
The good news is that after almost 4 months of sever pain in my side, I am beginning to feel better! My doctor referred me to a pain management specialist. He is helping a lot, thankfully! One of the biggest frustrations is that after so many tests, etc they can't pinpoint the reason for all this pain!
In a few minutes, I will put on warm clothing, then enjoy a nice long walk. Hopefully increased activity will help keep the pain away.
The warm weather will arrive eventually; hopefully soon. No matter, I will celebrate each new day! Feeling better sure makes everything look brighter!!! emoticon

Off to a Good Start for 2013!

Sunday, January 20, 2013

Finally feeling better! It was back to gym for me today and I got a great work out (55 min.) Counted all my calories. Unfortunately I did go about 100 cals. over limit. No problem. Still improving. Tomorrow will be better, as I'm planning to be right on target with nutrition goals.
The day will start with a 30 minute walk. Then time to catch up on housework. No work, due to Martin Luther King day. It's going to be a healthy New Year, because I am determined to meet all my goals. WOO-HOO!!! emoticon emoticon
TOPS meeting tomorrow night!

Great workout. I know what you mean about counting Cal's. I think its the visual that keeps us going. Also, I noticed that if I take my TOTAL WEEK of Calories (or any nutrition) it usually comes out pretty good for the week. I'm on your side. Keep up the work.

So far not such a good Winter, but hoping for a change SOON!

Not long after going through bronchitis, I now have the flu. Should have gotten that flu shot! Thank goodness for Tamiflu! Consequently, my fitness minutes for this new year add up to 0. emoticon Yup, no fitness minutes! This WILL change, as soon as my health improves. Got a lot of catching up to do. I will succeed. This is my year to reach my goals. It will happen. Still not giving up! emoticon

Thank you, TIMOTHYNOHE for your comment. I'm so anxious to get back on track. The longer I wait, the harder it will be to catch up. Thankfully feeling better, but you are right about coming back too soon. At least I'm staying on track with nutrition.
Have a great day and Happy New Year to you and your family! emoticon

Still Pluggin'

Sunday, November 04, 2012

The weight is coming off ever so slowly, but it IS coming off! Eight more pounds to go. Hopefully can get there by Christmas. If not, it's no big deal! I'm happy with the progress I have made. Reaching my goal will be a great way to start the coming New Year! My resolution will be to maintain. It won't be easy, but it can be done.
My health has actually improved, my doctors are pleased with my efforts at keeping healthy. I will continue to change and control what I can, and pray for the strength to deal with the rest!
