Injured and loosing

Sunday, July 14, 2013

So here we go again after a bit of MIA time. Ruptured the cartilage in my knee and so am unable to exercise properly. With overeating an no exercise the weight piled on. SO back i came and logged everything and a 10lb weight loss. on my first week. Bit high but it is my first week after nothing for months. Does give me a buffer on my plan so any plateau weeks should balance out.

Manc, welcome back! So sorry about the injury...a pretty devastating one! It's good you feel comfortable enough to return to basics, stop the backsliding and move forward again. Cheering for you!

Glad your back.. Don't forget to exercise your upper body(weights) and core. My mom hurt her ankle and did nothing for months and her whole body suffered for it.

Back to the running..

Monday, January 28, 2013

Have started a training program that should have be running a 5k in a decent time. It is set out with three runs a week but I am trying to fast track and I have a bit of a base level of fitness so I did the first two sessions. Out for an hour and feeling better than when I was trying to run on my own.

Some times it is worth going back to basics

Running...or at least trying

Sunday, January 20, 2013

SO went for a jog on tuesday and went out again tonight. Spend more time walking than jogging at the moment but I'm out and about. I have an app on my phone that breaks up older play lists so it makes being out a little fresher every time and fun. There is a 5k training app I have as well so instead of the gym I have these.

Have also treated myself to a pair of running shoes. I have some nice gear to keep me warm so even if there is a little more cold weather to come I have no excuse to not get out and run

Great! It is important to do what you can...so if for now you are doing more walking than jogging that is fine, as you get healthier, it will tip the other way. I have some limits to what I can do because of disability, so when I started out, I could just about move a bit... a couple of weeks on and I've found that what I can do has naturally increased. Yesterday I actually finished a routine in one go that a few weeks ago I could only do in one minute stages.

Beep test...

Sunday, January 13, 2013

So went out today and did the beep test over a 15m distance. Wet grass, snow falling and still did it. Didn't do very well though, got to 6.2. That gives me a Vo2 score of 33.6. The range for people my age is 44-47. So another challenge is set for myself.

So been ill with a virus for a fortnight and getting back to fitness now. Going to leave insanity for a little longer but back to rugby training (only missed one session though).
