Never say diet

Tuesday, October 22, 2013

Today my goal was to stay in my calorie limits and only eat what I packed in my lunch. Eating a nutritious breakfast lunch and dinner during my 15 hours away from home takes lots of planning! I packed it in a backpack so I had no excuses

Getting off the computer

Tuesday, June 25, 2013

I admit, part of my problem is I can goof around on the internet all DAY LONG! Then suddenly I notice that it is almost dinner time and I have accomplished next to nothing. Today I made a rule for myself: In between goofing off on the computer episodes, I must get up and do at least 5 things that I need to do. I made myself a list before I went to bed last night. I woke up rested and started doing my list items right away. Wish me luck! emoticon

I spend tons of time on the computer as well. Every half an hour I try to get up and do something around the house.

Doing pretty well on my list! Thanks for the encouragement. Just noticed that I hadn't eaten breakfast yet and it is 11:00 so I stopped to eat and take a break. Next: errands that are outside the house

    good luck....
I reward myself with computer time.....when I get so much done I get 30 minutes computer time, I set the timer..then I won't loose track of the time....

I have a rule that I must exercise before any computer time...

this works for me

I always liked FlyLady's suggestion of using a timer for things like this where the time just seems to get away from you. You set it for 15 minutes, and for that amount of time you surf to your heart's content with no guilt. When the timer goes off you do something on your to-do list for up to 15 minutes. Then you get to compute some more. At the end of the day you still spent almost as much time as usual on the computer but you actually accomplished a lot of other things as well.

It's amazing how quickly time goes by when we're surfing the Internet :-)

I commend you for having a goal of doing at least 5 things on your list. Your plan should keep you moving and help you have a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day.

fat girls don't wear plaid

Monday, June 24, 2013

So since I have recently lost some weight, I was out thrift shopping, looking for a pair of navy shorts that weren't so baggy looking on me. I didn't exactly find a pair of navy shorts, but I got a pair of dark denim shorts that will fit the bill. Also got a pair of khaki shorts that look nice and two new shirts. All four items in great shape for $30 from a consignment store. The one blouse was a Liz Claiborne and still had it's store tags attached. Anyway, from the fitting room, I have proof that fat girls shouldn't wear plaid shorts, even though yesterday I was all full of embracing my Pear shape and all that jazz. see the pic and you will totally understand! I didn't get the shorts, but I did get the shirt in the photo.

I think you can wear plaid if the cut is different. Just because that pair wasn't as flattering in your mind doesn't mean that you can't fit plaid into your wardrobe in a different way :)
I'm glad you found some new cute clothes for such a bargain--I'm a thrift store shopper, too!

oops

Monday, June 24, 2013

So yesterday I ranted on the journal page only to find out that is not the blog! I am going to try to blog more about my journey and maybe that will help me to keep up a good pace. .
I have had hypoglycemia since 1991. I find when follow a low carb diet, and avoid all flour and sugar I can control my symptoms fairly well. The problem? If I am good enough at it, I lose my hunger pangs (like this is a problem) and yesterday I went on a 2 mile hike with the dog in 92 degree weather without having eaten in about 7 hours. I was about a half mile from my car when I felt the light headedness and nausea coming on. I wanted to sit down and rest but I knew I had to get the dog back to where he could get a drink of water, too. We plodded on very slowly. this is when the dog decided he had to make doo on the side of the trail. When you are light headed and feel like you are going to pass out, this is NOT the time you want to bend over and bag up a pile!! I did it and we made it back to the car after a detour down to the river so little Luke could get a drink. Attached is a pic of my Luke after the hike, loving the cold blasting A/C in the car!

Thanks, Rachel! I really did feel very accomplished. Good idea on bringing the snack. Or I could just eat a veggie snack before I go even if I'm not really hungry!

Yay for surviving, walking, and a happy puppy. You might pack a snackable veggie in your purse, in case of emergencies. Zucchini, broccoli, celery or carrots are great as emergency snacks. Just to be safe.
