The animals are at the fair

Friday, August 01, 2014

We left the office early to gather the animals and the
necessary items to take the goats and chickens to the fair.
The goats were easily secured in the trailer with DD, GD
and the 3 teenagers who are showing our goats. Once
we loaded all the feed, alfalfa, pans, pails and cleaning
supplies, we caught the chickens and then DH and the
rest were off. It took some time to house them in their
pens and cages, plus put all the rest in storage for the
next 2 days.
DH came home and I had fresh potatoes, cottage cheese,
creamed cucumbers and sliced peaches for dinner. Not
much left when we were done.
Then we went uptown for a short time and I had my
FIRST wine cooler in 5 years. Can you tell I am an
alcoholic? NOT! It tasted good and I may just wait
another 5 years for the next one. Good thing I drank
it after dinner or I would have had a hard time walking
out to the car.
Today was the poultry show and I think GD had more
than a few purples but won't know for sure until DH
gets back. Tonight is the 4-H barbecue in the park and
it will be a lovely evening. The camera is going along
so I can take pictures of all the animals and exhibits.
Thanks for stopping by and for all the birthday goodies
and kind words. Spark People are the BEST! HUGS!

You can tell it is summer-the fairs are in full swing. In Florida they happen later in the year due to the heat. Sounds like lots of fun for the kids.

Sounds great! Gotta love the fairs!! Congrats to your award winners and good luck to those awaiting decisions on awards!! Sounds like quite a feat just getting everybody and everything moved there, but plenty of fun once the hard work is done!
You're kind of like me with the wine cooler every 5th year!! hehe I liked the sound of that supper y'all had, too! Lite and yummy!
Take care and stay safe, my friend! (((HUGS)))

Oh,no! The BIG 60!

Thursday, July 31, 2014

Hop, skip, jump and away I go!
Yes, Yes! It's the BEST.
Put my body to the test.
Concentrating on my mind.
Doesn't do to leave it behind.
Active, hydrated to a T
Making sure to eat healthy.
All rhymed out, can't you tell?
Now it's time to sit a spell.

Yes, the big 60 arrived today and it
will be a doozy! I am up for the day!
GD had a great first experience with her
horticulture exhibits-all purples and one
on her cabbages won BEST IN SHOW!
I am sure she was very excited! I will try
to take pictures tomorrow so I can post them.
The veggies won't look as fresh as they did
but you will see she did a great job with all of them.
Off and running again but I may post later if
time permits.
Thanks for stopping by and have an awesome day!
I know I will! HUGS!

Bonus blog

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

Taking off early this morning for an ambulance run
was good for one thing-it kept me pumped up all day.
I logged over 6.6 miles today with the extra chores I
did because DH was gone and the other various
errands that just worked their way into the day.
But it was not so good as now I am hitting the wall
after being on the go for 17 hours. Thank goodness
for lunch and dinner-a chance to relax. I am very
sure I will sleep well tonight.
Thanks for stopping by and treat yourself well
tomorrow. HUGS!

Early start today

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

Up for over an hour and a half as the pager went
off and we took an elderly man to the hospital with
chest pains. He was apologizing for waking us up
and we assured him that this is what we do for
our patients. I have known him over half of my life
and he is such a sweet soul. Hoping he can return
to the care center yet today.
Start your day out fresh with a positive attitude
and have no regrets. Thanks for stopping by. HUGS!

Hope your little ole fella is going to be fine!!
I have my little GDG this week and she wanted to walk to one of her last year's teacher's house this morning, so away we went. Couldn't get an answer at the door, so we kept walking a bit then doubled back. Still no answer at the door, so walked back home to my house.....tracker said we walked 1.13 miles!!! Pretty doggoned good for an almost 5 year old, I'd say!! And I really enjoyed and needed it!! Yay us!! She's napping now at my insistence, but it only took her 5 minutes to fall asleep, so I'm thinking she really must have needed it! And I promised to wake her in an hour. hehe She sleeps as well as she plays!!
Hope you are having a Wow Wednesday!! (((HUGS)))

4-H Mania

Tuesday, July 29, 2014

After work, we ventured down to the farm to organize
most of what needs to be done before the county fair.
First we trimmed the hooves of all the goats (10 little
and not so little nannies). I milked later and then it
was off to the garden to find as many exhibits as
we could. So many things that GD pre-entered were
not ready or non-existent. But she will have 3 classes
of potatoes, zucchini, broccoli, beets, and 2 cabbages.
There will be no green peppers, eggplant, cucumbers,
green beans or carrots. Such is life.
We dug up enough potatoes to fill at least a 5 gallon
pail until we found the right ones to fit the classes.
Three matching potatoes can be a bit tough.
After all the gardening was done, we washed her
chickens. One pail of soapy water and one to rinse.
Dunk them quickly 3 times, hold them up and then
3 times in the rinse water. And I do mean quickly!
Take them inside and let them dry and tomorrow
they will look just lovely. And no, I will not be using
a blow dryer like in the commercial for a certain
brand of eggs.
DH and I treated ourselves to a very late dinner-
like 9:30. Just like the good old days when we
were helping our children get ready for the fair.
But when we had all 4 showing, I made sure to
have something to eat at home because it cost
too much to feed 4 hungry kids.
Settling in after my shower to finish this blog
and call it a day. Thanks for stopping by and
have a Woohoo Wednesday!. HUGS!
