The fascination of the computer

Thursday, November 20, 2014

Take it from someone who spends a vast amount of her
day on a computer and she will tell you they do funny
things when left unattended. Case in point, I found that
I had picked up a virus and the computer wanted me to
purchase a special program to clean the virus out.
Well, fine and good if I wanted to spend $70 to $100
to purchase it. Fine and good if it didn't want a credit
card to pay for it. Fine and good if the credit card was
accepted. Not a chance, fellas! I went to a system
restore point and deleted whatever it was. Now that
may not fix everything but at least it left me get
back on the internet and finish the day, late but
at least done with the critical items that needed
to be done. Time will tell if my "fix" was good enough.
Also, DH expected me to force a program to accept
information when there was no possible way to do it.
I even called a member of the support team and
they told me it couldn't be done. Score one for
the person who works on the computer every day.
DH is gone until Saturday for a company convention.
I went along in the day when I had someone to
cover for me in the office. I don't really miss the
nuisance of trying to carry a conversation with
people what I have never met and have been drinking
up a storm just because the drinks are free. Just
not my scene. So I stay home to man the fort,
do the chores and spend my evenings decompressing
from the day and anticipating what comes tomorrow.
So, as fascinating as the computer is, sometimes
it needs a little help to get through the day.
That is where my SPark friends come in-helping
me get through the days and continue on my
journey. Thanks for being there for me and thanks
for stopping by. HUGS!

Working for it Wednesday

Wednesday, November 19, 2014

Nothing gets me more excited than a challenge and
this week has been one of those fast paced times
and it is just half over. I can get into the flow of it
and turn out quotes quite quickly and then it is up
to DH to finish the rest. I even conquered the online
applications and it went better than yesterday.
Throw in a very complicated farm quote, a house
quote and an auto policy uploaded and I was so
ready to close shop. But my farmer came in late
and we talked for 30 minutes so I was late getting
home. DH was beginning to think I had skipped town LOL!
I did finish a few things tonight and will read a few
email and call it a day.
I did get to watch Survivor tonight and that was
kinda fun to just drift along. The last load of laundry
is ready for the dryer soon so I will wish you all a
wonderful evening and hope you have a super
Thursday. HUGS!

A new wrinkle

Tuesday, November 18, 2014

About the time I think I have learned everything there
is to learn, technology steps in and I need to learn
another program. At least this was a fairly simple
process but there is a first time for everything. You
fill out the paper application and then have to do the
application on life. The reasoning is that "we can't
read your handwriting as easy as you do" so please
transfer the information to the online app and hit
submit. Understandable but a duplication of effort.
And you have only 24 hours to submit it online or
the app is null and void. Lastly, you must fax all
pages to the number provided. A bit over the top.
Time to relax and leave the office behind although
I did bring some work home. One project finished
and the other half done. Tomorrow is another day.
So I will sit down and watch a little television (the
show is half over but I think I can figure it out),
catch the news and weather, feed the furnace one
more time and hit the sheets.
Life is what you make it so get out there and do
the best you can. Thanks for stopping by and
have a great Wednesday.

Wow, that application sounds like that company has taken a step backwards!!! Triple work and I wonder why not just email it once done on line instead of that fax part! I thought that was becoming kind of obsolete, too! Whatever!!! hehe You got 'er done!! Have a lovely Wednesday, my friend!! Stay safe and warm!! (((HUGS)))

Not the quiet day I expected

Monday, November 17, 2014

I hit the ground running this morning and it was nonstop
computer time until noon and started again at 1 until
closing time. Part D drug plans chewed a big hole in the
day and I did find time to do a few other things in between
but it few and far between. This season only lasts until
December 7th so I can understand the seniors being
concerned about making sure they have the right plan.
I did take time to check out new health insurance for
DS and I as DH is on Medicare. There are a few plans
that are worth checking out but taking the plunge-well,
I guess I will have to do my research.
I did take a break from shoveling snow after clearing
the sidewalk at the office. But I also took a break from
the computer tonight as my hands just didn't think they
were up to the challenge. I will answer the emails I
can and leave the rest for tomorrow.
Francine did not put in an appearance but since I
locked her in the salt shed by the feed store, she
can bang on the door all she wants and no one will
hear her LOL!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great Tuesday. HUGS!

I am a nervous wreck over Part D for DH. I do not know what medicine the new gastro doc is going to want him on so until I know that, I really can't do much. I have gone in and played with it on the website but......must know that medicine before I make any decision. We go Thur so I hope he has strong ideas immediately since it will be a new doc. I am still so angry at the one he has been seeing for over 5 yrs. 3 calls and they have never gotten back to us! That is the reason we are changing-I no longer have any confidence in him. Just hoping and praying we made the right decision!
Have a great day my friend and hopefully it wasn't as crazy for you.

Resting up from Saturday

Sunday, November 16, 2014

I didn't shovel as much snow today but I did spend
time out at the farm, doing a few odds and ends. The
wind was brisk and the air was cold but not unbearable.
It is pretty quiet right now but I expect the cold front
to move through after I go to bed.
Francine is not to be seen so I hope she takes a good
long vacation. But since she is part of me, I would
imagine she will show again, when I least expect her.
Winding up the day with the last of my water since
I met my other goals already. The colder weather is
a temptation to snack more but that has to be kept
to a minimum with the holiday season almost here.
DS's concert was awesome but I think we will not be
attending his jazz concert tomorrow night if the
weather continues to be an issue. He has at least
2 solo parts but if we miss it, there will always be a
next time.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week. HUGS!

Brrr! We're up to 47f and the rain is tapering off. To cool and damp to walk the neighborhood, though, so I'll be heading out to the gym here shortly. (It's only a couple of blocks over). No big deal but in my mind! lol!
