After work, we ventured down to the farm to organize
most of what needs to be done before the county fair.
First we trimmed the hooves of all the goats (10 little
and not so little nannies). I milked later and then it
was off to the garden to find as many exhibits as
we could. So many things that GD pre-entered were
not ready or non-existent. But she will have 3 classes
of potatoes, zucchini, broccoli, beets, and 2 cabbages.
There will be no green peppers, eggplant, cucumbers,
green beans or carrots. Such is life.
We dug up enough potatoes to fill at least a 5 gallon
pail until we found the right ones to fit the classes.
Three matching potatoes can be a bit tough.
After all the gardening was done, we washed her
chickens. One pail of soapy water and one to rinse.
Dunk them quickly 3 times, hold them up and then
3 times in the rinse water. And I do mean quickly!
Take them inside and let them dry and tomorrow
they will look just lovely. And no, I will not be using
a blow dryer like in the commercial for a certain
brand of eggs.
DH and I treated ourselves to a very late dinner-
like 9:30. Just like the good old days when we
were helping our children get ready for the fair.
But when we had all 4 showing, I made sure to
have something to eat at home because it cost
too much to feed 4 hungry kids.
Settling in after my shower to finish this blog
and call it a day. Thanks for stopping by and
have a Woohoo Wednesday!. HUGS!
