Jacinto Bonilla, a 73 Year Old CrossFitter

Saturday, October 19, 2013

When you think about it your blogs are really a reflection of something that gets you in action and motvates you. You want to share because you feel a connection to the people you come across and ideas that you want to share.

Jacinto Bonilla is someone that we can all meet thru his videos on You Tube. He is another person that I admire deeply and want to cheer on and learn from. So here he is giving you a small clip of what it is like living a CrossFit life. youtu.be/NeLVMgz-yUo

So please keep sharing your ideas and accomplishments. Your own personal blogs will help your own progress. It doesn't matter how many people answer your blogs, it helps capture your own journey. It is like a time capsule that you can reopen.

I do like when others answer my blogs because then I have usually made a new SparkFriend and that feels good. I have made another connection.

My husband is almost there. He retired from kettlebell sport last year... and just signed up for weight lifting competitions. Some people just can't retire! We've just got to hope we all grow up to be like them.

"It is like a time capsule you can reopen".

Absolutely! Not only that, but it's also much like a road map. You can review the path behind you and see where you stumbled... in reviewing the last four years, I have a drop off in August.... why is not clear just yet, but I'm noticing a pattern of throwing in the towel around august and having to do a restart... it's good to see these things and plan for them in the future...

Thank you for sharing such an inspirational person, but more for the time capsule idea you put out here yourself. Blogging is very important to your spark journey-- good motivator to get me to post!

I learnt something valuable whilst watching this link. That something like what this guy does at 73 is humanely possible. I wouldn't have believed it so before watching this. I know several people at our local sports centre between a third and half of his age that could not compete anywhere near him.

Thanks once again for sharing this.

Cheers

Ernestine Shepherd The 75 Year Old Bodybuilding Grandma

Saturday, October 19, 2013

This woman is such an inspiration to me. Being a former athlete and knowing how good it feels to be alive and in shape is so amazing. Waking up to a morning being strong and fit is something that I want to have again. It really is better than having a donut or a chocolate chip muffin.

Check out this video with Ernestine in action. youtu.be/aUS0mrnMG0k

Also you can go to Ernestine's official website. www.ernestineshepherd.net

On her website for contact she gives the name of her trainer and I have already contacted him. She started by training with him online and then going to his gym. He is willing to train you online as well. Once I get some money in my piggy bank I am calling him again to get online training.

You can contact this trainer at Yonnexsports, Inc. at (301) 248- 8888

The Little Man Can Win

Monday, October 07, 2013

emoticon I am taking on Corporate America this week. emoticon The Deceptive Trade Practices Act is a good starting point if you have a consumer issue.

If you are in Texas call the Texas State Attorney General's office and make your complaint online. They will give you the number to the Texas State Bar and for $20 you can get a 30 minute appointment with a lawyer. Hold on, let me give you the number. 1-800-252-9690

Find out where the corporate office is for the company you are complaining about contact their State Attorney General as well and make an official complaint. The company I am having trouble with has their offices in Phoenix Arizona. Arizona is sending me out a formal
complaint form.

I am having two issues one is with the car dealership where I leased my car and with a major bank who has not given me credit for my mortgage payments in three years.

A good place to write a review is at

www.consumeraffairs.com I have had over a few hundred people click on my review of this car dealership and several have found it to be helpful. Do not use the words ripped off, scammed, crooks, thieves, none of that or the company can come back at you for libel. You will feel better and have done your part in protecting others and yourself.

If it has to do with your home mortgage The Comptroller of the Currency is great. You can also go to www.consumerfinance.gov

Also do not forget to contact your local TV Station. A TV Station was very interested in my story and is checking out my complaint. Even if they don't run with it, they will check it out for you.

Now where did I put my Light Saber. I need to go practice. youtu.be/B4la3r1xDgM

Good for you! I think you are taking the right steps. It's always great to see the consumer stand up for his or her rights.

Waddle On, Friends

Wednesday, August 07, 2013

I still love John Bingham who used to write a column for Runners World. He wrote the Penguin Chronicles in which he described his days as an overweight coach potato who found that he wanted to try running and has never looked back.

He came to my job site once and I got to hear him speak. So I thought I would like to share his last blog that he sent to my e-mail. Yes, I am an avid fan and signed up to get his updates.

Here you go: thepenguinchronicles.com/2013/08/07/

Waddle on my friends and enjoy your life. emoticon emoticon

I really appreciate Runner's World for having a regular columnist for those of us who will probably always be dogged by some physical issue, but who run anyway, because we just want to, even if we will never be speed demons. Bingham gives authenticity and social acceptance to the likes of us in the media.

How lucky that you got to hear him speak!

Thanks for the blog link, Nan! That is SUCH a good thought - and I think it is VERY applicable to those of us who are on a weight loss journey. Its important to not be so focused on our goal that we forget to enjoy TODAY!! Because the JOURNEY is as important as the goal!! Awesome!! emoticon emoticon

Love Letter

Friday, July 26, 2013

This week in the BLC Challenge we are to write a meaningful love letter to ourselves. I think one of the greatest examples of this is from John Wooden to his wife Nellie.

Quoting from the picture

In one of the sweetest love letter stories of all time, this famed basketball coach continued to write his wife of 53 years, Nellie, love letters even after her death. On the 21st of every month he would visit her grave, write a letter and place it on a stack of similar letters that accumulated over the years. According to ESPN, no one got to see these lovely notes, not even his family.

For me, I think it is the connections with others we make in life that sustain us and help make us who we are and let us see ourselves in the best possible light.

We are so harsh on ourselves... and often on those we say we love too! What a positive, lovely story! Thank you for sharing it with us. As a result, I have now made a commitment to be more gentle and kind... to others and to the planet.
