Well tonight I go for a sleep study. Hubby is sure I have sleep apnea, I think I just need my own bedroom! I guess we will see what the sleep lab says tonight. emoticon

I was waking up nearly 15 times a night and I thought it was just from being uncomfortable because of my weight and a horrible mattress and obviously I was tired all the time. I was a snorer too, because of the weight, but my husband never noticed anything that fit what he understood about sleep apnea, so I figured I was okay. But at one point I was considering bariatric surgery and they insisted on a sleep study. Found out I was actually "waking up" (coming out of that good sleep) nearly 60 times per night! Well, I'm being treated with a CPAP and the difference in my sleep is unbelievable. I'm told that once I get enough weight off, I probably won't need the mask, but for now, it's necessary, it's a life saver, and it's a quality-of-life saver!

I never dreamed that I would develop sleep apnea. It wasn't until I starting falling asleep while driving that I got checked. You can imagine my shock when the doctor told me I had a moderate case. Since I've gotten my cpap, I've only missed 1 night of using it. Boy, could I feel the difference! I won't go without it again.

Best of luck with your sleep study!

I have sleep apnea myself, but I just can't tolerate the machine. Since I have lost weight and now exercising regularly, my sleep apnea episodes are all but gone.

I wish you the best of luck with your appointment.

God bless you and your family today and everyday.

Note to Self

Monday, July 21, 2014

I know you aren't comfortable blogging or doing a journal. However I think they must be right about this. I know when I have logged everything in the past I stayed on track. I know when I look at the past data it helps me to put things in perspective. emoticon

So, here we go. We aren't going to be concerned about what people may think about our thoughts and feelings. We are going to just work on consistency. So...Self here is to Day 1 of blogging/journaling and day 3 of exercise and proper food choice management.

Congratulations on getting starting. emoticon

Nae's Reality and being honest with myself

March 31,2010 272
March 31,2011 260
March 31,2012 263
March 31,2013 270
March 31,2014 255

This is a snap shot of the numbers that have been my last 5 years of weight each March 31st.

I found SparkPeople in 2010. I was trying to find a way to get my weight under control and get healthier. I was dealing with lose of my favorite aunt to complications of diabetes, strokes, hypertension etc. You see... my mom's family carries about 30-50 pounds of extra weight on average and my dad's family are morbidly obese. Only 2 out of 9 of the siblings are not in excess of 150 pounds over weight. As you can see, I struggle with losing and keep it off.

Even though I haven't achieved my goals yet. I have kept them in mind and worked on them off and on for the last several years. SP is a great blessing for me. I have lost journals and thrown away records, but SP has not been misplaced or forgotten about.

My plan is to see 158 on the scale before my 45th Birthday. I have lost 20 pounds this first quarter of the year and intend to slowly continue. I want it to be forever lost!! I am trying to truly embrace the SP way and make exercise a part of my daily life as well as stop the processed food train! I don't always succeed with my weight loss plans each week, but that is okay. I now know this.

I just keep practicing each day.

This is me at age 14. It is the only picture I have on my computer at ~155 pounds and 5`7". This is an example of what a loss of 100 pounds would be for me. ( Yes it is okay if you laugh at the dress) emoticon emoticon

I know the feeling. I am good at losing weight, and not good at maintenance. Thank goodness for Sparkpeople!

I also have an age goal... Ideal BMI by age 50, which is fast approaching.

We have to stick to this plan THIS time. See, my daughter is away in college and I often wonder if later on in life she'll struggle with her weight because of what I did or didn't do while she was living at home.

WE have to be a good example to break this pattern. Good luck in your journey. We can do this with SP.

2014 Dallas Blacklight Run

Sunday, March 23, 2014

I took my two oldest daughters with me last night to the 2014 Dallas Blacklight Run.

I am so proud of them! The oldest finished her first ever run. No she didn't run it, but she did show up and complete it! My middle daughter ran her first public run. I think she has been bitten by the bug It was a great time and I am so proud of the commitment. Way to go girls!
