Squeaking becoming tiresome

Friday, September 12, 2014

Squeaking becoming tiresome could refer to the sinus infection I've been fighting for a couple of weeks. Major symptoms are managed, but never sure when I open my mouth the quality of voice that will emerge. Made for some humorous moments trying to conduct choir rehearsals yesterday. But mostly tired of weekly weigh-ins that reflect 1/4 pound loss or staying the same. (In my small weight loss group we refer to those results as "squeaky turtles.") Need a new motivation to get me moving more quickly toward my goal. Was reminded yesterday that there is a convention coming up in July of next year that I'm interested in attending. Wouldn't it be nice to enjoy it at goal weight, with appropriate goal weight attire? Something to get started on - Today!

You just start "maintenance mode" a bit early. I hope you can find the right motivation - I've been having problems myself! At least you've got the right attitude!

Salty cure?

Thursday, September 04, 2014

I've been fighting allergies, sinus, whatever, for a few days now. Decided to pick up something to manage symptoms. Just grabbed one that promised relief from the symptoms that were irritating. Didn't feel like going to my weight loss group but stepped on scales just for a check. Weight up 3#. On my way past medicine box spotted "each tablet 476 mg of sodium". Since the doses involve 2 tablets every 4-5 hours, I had ingested tremendous amounts of sodium, no wonder scales were up. Lesson learned. Even have to check ingredient lists on OTC cold remedies. I have to admit that I'm feeling better, but the weight gain was quite a shock. Working to get it off by next Thursday.

Like the slogan that I saw on SP earlier today. Make one healthy choice. Then make another.

Squeaked by again

Thursday, August 28, 2014

My goal for today's weigh in was not to have gained weight during our vacation last week. Actually lost 1/4 pound over the 2-week period since last weigh-in, so was pleased. Now to set some goals for September and hopefully make that scale number a little lower.

Pictured Beauty

Tuesday, August 26, 2014

Even overcast, cool weather couldn't dull the beauty of the Pictured Rocks and waterfalls we hiked to last week in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

I have plenty of beautiful woods to hike closer to home, but the week with my family was truly special. Granddaughters were troopers. They not only had energy to hike to this waterfall, but climbed sand dunes the next stop.

I just could not pass up commenting on this NANA2PRINCESSES's. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, roughly about 70 to 75 miles from Pictured Rocks. Our Great Nephew got married on Miners Beach at Pictured Rocks in Munising on August 13th. I took a lot of pictures that day. I will post a few on my Spark page for youor anyone else to see. It is a beautiful scenic spot. I'm glad you had a wonderful time with your Grand daughters. emoticon

It Pays to Lose

Friday, August 15, 2014

Last week I had a great weigh-in with a 2-3/4 pound loss. I'm usually lucky to have lost at all, and then only in fractions of a pound. The trick was keeping it off until yesterday's weigh-in. (Our small weight loss group rewards that feat with a small monetary stipend). Squeaked by with a 1/2 pound loss, and collected my $3.

Next week I am on vacation with my kids and grandkids. My goal is not to lose my forward progress and perhaps add another 1/2 pound loss when I weigh-in 2 weeks from yesterday. The vacation house we're renting has a very well equipped kitchen and a good food market is close by so see no obstacles to keeping on program. Looking forward to the break.

That's wonderful. You will be active while on vacation. Just remember to watch your portions and your vacation will not be the cause of a gain.
