Feeling lousy, but I did it!!

Monday, January 20, 2014

I have been fighting a miserable cough -the after effects of a cold earlier this winter. Today I felt tired and was coughing. I did NOT want to exercise! I tried to argue my way out of walking. But, it was on my list of "things to do today". Every time I looked at my to-do list, it was there. Plus, I asked my Sunday School class to hold me accountable. So, I promised myself "10 minutes, then I can throw myself down on the bed." And maybe I'd put in 10 minutes later on. Maybe.

I walked for 10 minutes; I still felt tired, but not bad, so, okay - I'll go for 15 minutes. Then 20. Then it was only 5 more minutes and I'd have 30 minutes in! I am still tired, but I feel accomplished! I pushed through the strong desire to do nothing! The first step and then the first 10 minutes are the hardest. If I can get past those two issues, I can do the rest with no problem. emoticon

I have two days consistency in exercise!!! Yesterday I danced for 30 minutes and today I was on my mini trampoline for 25, with 10 minutes of walking AND I did 20 minutes of strength training with 5 pound dumbbells!!

I have been in such a rut of not exercising or paying attention to what I eat. I haven't gained any weight in over a year, but I haven't lost, either. My doctor can't seem to see anything about me, except my weight. I will see him in 2 1/2 months - my goal is to have 10 pounds off in that time. Which means I can't fool around - I need to take care of me every day and not harm myself by eating improperly or skipping exercise.

I need all the help I can get. I'm going to write my friends and tell my Sunday School class (I teach teen girls) to hold me accountable. Ask if I've exercised and am eating right. If I know that they will be asking, it may help me think twice before I give into inertia.

Good for yo! I've got to start exercising too. I walk, but haven't done it every day. I have to start again! Thanks for the reminder.

Struggling along

Monday, May 13, 2013

I joined Spark people several years ago. I have learned a lot. My biggest problem is putting all this learning into action. I go for spurts in exercising and eating right. Then I have a set back. This past year and a half has been difficult with my parents' poor health and the loss of my mother-in-law. I'm tired - of my lack of energy and motivation. The hardest step is the first one. So, I'm going to put my sneakers on and go outside and walk right now!

It sounds trite, but You Can Do It! Getting started is the hardest part, and now you have - and with all the accumulated knowledge, you are going to be going strong in no time. Good luck to you!
