Plans for today

Monday, April 21, 2014

Core workout first then I'm taking a walk, might go into Hopton where the holiday park is. You may remember we stayed there when visiting John and Vicki before we moved and while we were house hunting up here last summer.
The owner is paying for sea defences to protect the coastline and hence the park- it'll be interesting to see what's going on. . www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfol

We saw some huge barges out at sea during the week and had to think to make the connection that were carrying the boulders needed.

We stayed there for a long week end many years ago. They must be making a lot of money to be able to self fund the defences. Chilly start here but now the sun is out. Have a lovely day

I smiled today because

My smiled because I connected with my inner child and chuckled through Toy Story 2 last night with DH. The film is wasted on kids!!
The mocked up out-takes at the end had us roaring with laughter. Hilarious !!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWclgyyIfUs

There are a lot of buried adult (not XX) jokes in many movies. Bug's Life, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, and so many others. I love the mock out-takes (& real out takes on non-animated movies). They're well worth the last few minutes of sticking around for credits. emoticon

Well.............I thought it was funny

Saturday, April 19, 2014

So we had the first fly of the warm weather in the lounge yesterday and I HATE them. He had to go so I zapped him with some spray.
Today whilst working out a smaller fly was determined to distract me.

The conversation with Pete went as follows;

Me; Son of "Annoying fly" came to aggravate me while I working out hun, I'm sure he thinks he'll wreak vengeance for the untimely death of his father! He was hovering above my eyes all the time.

Pete; So is he to face the "SPRAY" too.

Me; You betcha!

Pete; You want to put a sign up........................................

New Country Doctor

Saturday, April 19, 2014

A young doctor had moved out to a small community to replace a doctor
who was retiring.

The older doctor suggested that the young one accompany him on his
rounds, so the community could become used to a new doctor.

At the first house a woman complains, "I've been a little sick to my
stomach."

The older doctor says, "Well, you've probably been overdoing the fresh
fruit. Cut back on the amount you've been eating and see if that does the
trick?"

As they left, the younger man said, "You didn't even examine that woman?
How'd you come to the diagnosis so quickly?"

"I didn't have to. You noticed I dropped my stethoscope on the floor in
there? When I bent over to pick it up, I noticed a half dozen banana peels
in the trash. That was what probably was making her sick."

The younger doctor said "Pretty clever. If you don't mind, I think I'll
try that at the next house."

Arriving at the next house, they spent several minutes talking with a
younger woman. She said that she just didn't have the energy she once did
and said, "I'm feeling terribly run down lately."

"You've probably been doing too much for the Church," the younger doctor
told her. "Perhaps you should cut back a bit and see if that helps."

As they left, the elder doctor said, "I know that woman well. Your
diagnosis is almost certainly correct, she's very active in the church,
but how did you arrive at it?"

"I did what you did at the last house. I dropped my stethoscope and,
when I bent down to retrieve it, I noticed the vicar under the bed."

Conflicting advice........hhhmmmmmmmmmmm

Saturday, April 19, 2014

Thanks to many of my friends on here about lawn care.
As a result I've looked up a Horticultural Society's advice and they recommend Spring and Autumn as a major task to rid the lawn of moss etc and regular aerating throughout the year to promote nutrient uptake!! Well I'm learning something new every day emoticon Our old lawn was an oval patch no longer than 10 foot and no wider than 8 foot and we weren't too bothered about it's condition. But now my garden here is my pride and joy and I want to get it in top condition. I think it's worth paying out for a scarifier, and we've just bought an inexpensive feed spreader to do the feed properly. Pete even did that for me yesterday.....first time he's shown interest in the garden emoticon

Seems I'm getting conflicting advice from seasoned gardeners and websites. All I know is the lawns are moss ridden at the mo and need some TLC so I'll try the feed and weed and aerating and leave it be a while, see how much it improves. I'm not after a golf course perfect finish but I want to improve on what I have!!

Have a good weekend all, I'm off for a multi gym ST workout then heading out to do some tidying up in the garden .........................................a
lthough it looks like rain emoticon

You are on the right track and rest assured there is more than one right way. My goal is "green". I'm pretty flexible about the rest. Especially in the backyard where I don't like to use chemicals because of my "girls".

Lawns really respond to feeding etc, so it is worth doing. Healthy lawns look almost edible. That's a thought....a goat and a couple of sheep might do the work for you!

  Hi Caz.........
We rake our lawn in the Spring and Fall and feed it periodically throughout the summer. Our lawn is at least two acres, so it is a major job!!!
It is so beautiful today and I have to spend the afternoon inside at a Wedding Shower!!! emoticon I hope it is this nice tomorrow so that the kiddies can hunt for their eggs OUTSIDE.
Happy Easter........ emoticon

Your lawn must be Gorgeous! My husband would be so jealous! I own about 4 acres w about 1 acre of "lawn". Its really a combo of moss and clover and mystery green things. We tried for years to make it golf course pretty. Got the aerators, fertilized w appropriate fertilizer in spring and fall, etc etc etc. Alas too big a space, no sprinklers, tons of pine trees so too acidic, hard crappy soil beneath despite having trucked in TONS of loam. Too expensive to completely redo again, running the well to water the lawn during the dry season too costly and kills the well pump.
OH well...we've learned to live with "country" lawn! the heck with it (for now...my DH still dreams about someday! LOL) As long as it's green of some sort, we'll mow it when need be and pretend we are just true environmentalist going for the au natural southern NE lawn! hahahaha! Keep the landscaping gardens and such tidy...hope the deer don't eat it all like it's their personal salad buffet :) and the forget about it!
Besides ( not that we are into keeping up with the joneses) but eh! except for one other home that has sprinklers and used to be on an old farm of 12acres or so everybody else has got we got so we are blending. LOL I can deal with that.
BEst of luck with that awesome yard and garden! Pics are always great.
Happy Gardening CAZ!

This is interesting info, Caz. Thank you for sharing. I've been thinking about my lawn for a while - tiny but deserving of more care than I give it. Weeding, feeding and scarifying is probably my way forward for the moment. Will be interesting to see how it goes.
