Losing Inches Challenge

I've been thinking I need to give myself a new challenge. My weight has been within the healthy range for some time. Through calorie-counting and exercise it's been staying there. emoticon One really great thing is to be a part of several maintenance challenges over at the "At Goal and Maintaining" Team. For this most recent challenge I've stayed around #10 out of about 60 other really motivated SparkPeople.

I don't really take my other body measurements very often. I've been thinking that I should try really working on some of those areas that are a bit jiggly yet. It takes a bit more time to measure (versus jumping on the scale) but I think it would be really motivational to see the numbers change for the better. Of course, it would take a lot of work to finally minimize those jiggles and I might not see the numbers change. emoticon

Any thoughts?

    Personally, I like to see the number drop better then seeing the measurement. But i think for the real achievement is really tide to the measurements. I would love to see my jiggling be gone. But for that, I need some work to do. Thanks for stopping by my "salad in a jar" blog.

Have to be Happy with The Good

I came about 10 miles short of last month's mileage goal for walking/jogging.

In several ways, I let life get in the way of reaching my goal. I also chose some extra family time and rest over my goal, but I made the choices myself.

I still feel pretty good about my 89 miles for the month. It was a record. It felt good. I know that the 100 miles is definitely attainable.

82 miles for July and 5 days to go...

This was such a busy week. I was unable to keep up the mileage pace, but I tried to sneak in walks/jogs when I could. In order to make my 100 mile goal for the month of July, I'll need to averagee 3.6 miles for the next 5 days. (It's very helpful to me to break down the goal into tiny bits.)

Even though some of the days will be busy, it really seems like an attainable goal!

I'm having a debate with myself today. I logged just over 50 miles (walking or jogging) for the month of June and about the same for the month of May. Here it is only the 17th of July and I've already pretty much reached the same distance.

My debate:

Do I just keep at it this way without a definite plan for a total mileage goal for the month of July...

OR I make a goal to try and hit 100 miles?

I'll be thinking through this one today. emoticon

Balance: Me vs. My Vocation

I often find it difficult to achieve a balance between spending time on my health and spending time in my vocation. This is a common problem for many people, so I know I'm not alone.

With the kids having more free time this summer it's also been a trick to balance my own exercise (at a higher intensity) with family fitness activities. The same is true when trying to balance an exercise session with things like weeding the garden.


I don't feel like there are a lot of right choices vs. wrong choices. They're sometimes just tricky choices.

Sometimes they can be combined (a family game of baseball is pretty active), although sometimes I'd rather take a jog instead.

Other times it really does become one or the other. (Can I really take a morning jog on a day that I'm also planning on cleaning the whole house?)

At least during the summer it gets light early and there are more daylight hours to choose from!

    You are definitely not alone regards to choice issue. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Yes, sometime it's hard to choose. But for me one good choice at a time. Normally when I make one good choice that will turning into another good choice. In other hand same for bad choice unfortunately... So it is important to strive to make the first good choice. (*^^*)

    Break the jogs into shorter ones, two ten minute ones if you are house cleaning... have a race to the fence and back with the kids ten times,, loser gets squirted with the hose, winner gets dinner served to them. or gets to be the squirtee!! Summer DOES have its' advantages!!
