Breaking the Plateau

Thursday, August 28, 2014

I joined Sparkpeople in Feb 2012 weighing in at 218 & set a goal weight of 165. That's 53 pounds total. I lost the first 40 pounds in 5 months by walking daily & tracking what I ate. I loved the transformation & it felt really good to get compliments.
Then I hit a plateua which we all know is inevitable!
I was stuck in the 170s for what seemed like an eternity! When I finally go to my goal of 165 in March 2014, I started teetering between 169 - 172 & have been ever since!
I've been toying with the idea of trying to jog. I've tried several times along my SP journey & couldn't even get halfway through a block! It didn't take long for me to say "I CAN'T do this!" and gave up.
Well over the past week, something inside of me decided to try to jog. I've slowly been inceasing my jogging distance & this morning I was able to go 1/2 mile without getting winded!
I just set another weight loss goal to reach 155 by December 17th, which will be my 2 year, 10 month Sparkversary!

Yesterday was my first time jogging. I felt like my lungs were filling up with cotton balls, but I did it! Only six minutes total (in 60-90 second spurts), but it's a start! I'm hoping to be able to go 1/2 a mile soon! Congrats!

Goal weight met!

Friday, April 11, 2014

Today, I met my goal weight loss of 53 pounds, set when I joined Sparkpeople on Feb 17, 2014! It's been a long road, but I'm here & feeling so accomplished!
Thanks Sparkworld!
Words of advice: it's OK to look back, if we don't, how can we see where we came from?
And, remember, "everything's OK in moderation!"

a difference of 50#

Tuesday, March 11, 2014

I went shopping over the weekend, something I've never been a fan of, but I found some really great deals & when I went to the dressing room, everything I picked out actually fit me & I liked the way the clothes looked on me!
When I got home I started going through my closet & decided to part with clothes that fit me 50#s ago. Why have I been holding onto them? I surely don't ever want them to fit me again! It was fun to try some of them on though, and here's what I came up with:

Passing by the mirror every day, I've noticed changes, but this really sums it up!
I'm so grateful to be a part of Sparkpeople!

Diagnosis: Thyroid Nodule

Wednesday, August 08, 2012

The ultrasound my Doc ordered shows a thyroid nodule and now he has ordered another test called "radioiodine nuclear thyroid scan." He said it will give a closer look & determine if it needs to be removed or not. Still hoping for the best & waiting for the hospital to call to schedule the test.

Just skimming through and saw this. Let me know if you have any questions. I know three people who have gone through it and went through it myself. My nodule was small so I didn't have to get it removed.

Today's Physical

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

So I went for my anual exam today with my new Dr that I'd only seen once (was having bad chest pains & diagnosed with costochondritis, took anit-inflamatories & anti-biotics for 2 weeks & ALL better!)
As with my usual anual exam, I didn't have any ailments, which I feel good about at age 42. He was alot more thorough than the Dr I'd been seeing for the past 10 years & felt that my thyroid was enlarged. He had blood drawn & wants me to schedule for an ultrasound to make sure there's not a mass on my thyroid. Hopefully this is nothing, all new to me!
