Sometimes you have to go alone.

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

I have some very dear family & friends who are helping me along this weight loss journey. Some of them are on the same journey, but are very easily discouraged. I used to be that way, too. I am DETERMINED that this is the last time I'm going to lose this weight. It might take a long, long time, but that's ok -- slow is still progress.

I had a workout buddy who was going to the gym with me, but she became discouraged & quit. I had another friend who was doing the SP healthy eating plan with me & she also became discouraged & quit.

If you're following along with the crowd, you can only go so far. A lot of the crowd will become discouraged & quit. But don't you do it!!!! Hang in there!! Once good choice at a time, one foot in front of the other.

Sometimes, you have to go alone to be successful.

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

Thanks for a great blog and reminder that while we need others to encourage us we can't always depend on them day in and day out. The only one that is always there for us is ourselves. emoticon

oh my goodness, spot on! My sister will tell me she wants to loose weight with me, then she shovels a piece of cake or another goodie into her mouth. My mom says she wants to lose weight with me then decides she is too busy. I am the only fat one in the house, so there is no one around to help. I have fatty food in the house from my husband and children. It is hard to decide that I am going to count my calories when they are all eating whatever they want, and I am checking my calories to see if I can have an apple. Like you said, sometimes you have to go alone!

This is so true - if I ever depended on others to meet my personal goals, I can strongly assure you that NOTHING WOULD EVER SUCCESSFULLY BE ACCOMPLISHED! Sad, but oh, so true!

Great that you kept on in spite of others quitting. That's why I do it by myself. I think they would influence me too much.
This time, slow and steady is my goal. I want to get there by doing things I can do for the rest of my life. That way I don't give up anything I can't live with. I know some are losing so quickly, but doing so much exercise or denying so many foods, but is it really sustainable?
It's amazing how many people on this site have kept it off. They're my biggest inspirations.
As long as we keep striving we have to get there eventually!

Very true. I keep falling off but coming back knowing that I am the only one who can this for me. I'm 58 and know that eventually there will be fewer opportunities. I already say now that if I'd only knew then what I know now I would have done it sooner. Health is not a given.

The best thing if you want to do it. I have a twin sister. I born first for 5 minutes. I do what I think is the best and she do what she think is best and born the same day with 5 minutes of difference. That means I have to do my choices, she have to do her choices and you have to do your choices, along. GOD BLESS YOU AND HE NEVER LET ANYONE ALONE.

I absolutely LOVE it. Sometimes it may be hard to come to that very realization - and sometimes even harder to not give up ourselves. Again, I LOVE this blog. And sometime following that crowd - can be worst than going it alone. True - we all need others but as long as we can be honest with ourselves and know when it is time to change things up or move on by ourselves. I think I needed to read this today - and I salute you - be BLESSED and do what you need to do. emoticon

A few items from my bucket list

Monday, October 29, 2012

My husband & I love to travel, so most of mine are about travel.

1 - Visit the remaining states I have not yet visited (in the U.S.). We have a LOT left.
2 - Go to Australia/Sydney Opera House
3 - See Stonehenge.
4 - Take an Alaskan Cruise/see Northern Lights
5 - See the Pyramids in Egypt.
6 - Go to an NFL (football) game. (I've been to lots of baseball games, but not football).
7 - Fly first class.
8 - Travel the length of Route 66.
9 - Be part of a flash mob (I think this would be sooooooo fun!!!).

I would LOVE to see items from your bucket lists. Please share them!! Sometimes I see other people's lists & think "Oh wow! That should be on my list, too."

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

I saw this yesterday & I guess I was in a goofy mood, because I laughed on & off throughout the day every time I thought about it.

A lot of times we ask our doctors if a certain exercise (or any exercise at all) is right for us, but we continue to sit on the couch doing nothing after our doctor tells us we need to move more.

I like to watch TV. So I exercise during commercials, or as DH & I are watching, I'll do crunches on my stability ball or walk in place for 15 to 30 minutes. It's better than just sitting.

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

Hope after breast cancer.

Saturday, October 27, 2012

I love to watch the Pink Glove Dance competitions. I'll sit & watch HUNDREDS of them over several days. They are so encouraging & some even make me cry. I was so blessed that I didn't have to go through as much as other women have had to, but it was hard for me -- a big mountain in the middle of my quiet, routine life, but I made it through. I know I would not be here with all of you had I not had cancer, so for that I am thankful.

As a breast cancer survivor, I can tell you there IS hope. Don't ever give up. Keep fighting with every ounce of strength you have inside of you. When you start to run out of strength, lean on friends & family. I had an amazing support system and I always have God to lean on -- He has NEVER let me down.

I came across this Pink Glove Dance video 3 days ago & it sort of tells a story of hope. It is so amazing -- I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. You might need a tissue.

Stop wishing & start working!

Every time I think of getting something for nothing, I think of the 80s song by the Dire Straits -- Money for Nothin'. (Can you tell I'm an 80s music junkie?) emoticon

Anyway, my parents always taught me that you can't get something for nothing -- if you want it, you have to work for it, so I'm no stranger to work.

Let's get this done, folks. Let this be the LAST time we lose this weight or reach this goal.

emoticon Go team!!!

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

So true! And you are right... I think I have lost about 30 kgs this year... but it is the same five kilos six times over, and I am back where I started! So today, let's kick start ourselves into a new day, a new opportunity to meet those goals we set ourselves, and become ferociously determined to do all that is necessary!
