Are you happy?

Monday, November 26, 2012

I have discovered since I started this healthy lifestyle journey that eating healthier & exercising makes me happy. I anticipated that it was going to be hard work & some days it is, but for the most part, it's not so bad.

I have healthy snacks ready to grab in my fridge (cut freggies). I do this on Sunday so that I'm ready for the work week. I keep healthy snacks in my desk drawer at work. If I'm going away from the house for a bit (other than work) I have my filled ice water bottle & a couple of healthy snacks.

I also always have my gym bag packed & ready in my car for my trip to the gym on the way home from work.

Just a few little tweaks in my life & I'm getting healthier & happier. Not a bad deal. emoticon

Question of the day: What are you going to do today to live a healthier, happier lifestyle?

Have a fantastic week!!

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

    Right on!
I have planned my menu for the week to have a successful finish to the 5% challenge. I've even made a few recipes and prepared some lunches and dinners for later in the week. The fridge is stocked with fresh produce. Fruit bowl on the counter is filled up with fruit I can easily grab for a snack. Feeling good about all this.
I'm also decluttering the bedroom closet. Packed three garbage bags with old, over-sized clothes because I don't ever plan to need them again. Some persons in Ghana will receive some fabulous new clothes in the spring. I'm glad I can donate them to women who have very little.
Today is a great day for me. I'm moving forward.
Thanks for a great blog.

I hate that old saying "a moment on the lips a lifetime on the hips" but it's so true. I am so often tempted by treats, mostly at work, or when I go to the grocery store tired. I have pretty much learned the happy medium between letting myself enjoy a treat every once in a while and going completely overboard!

I too, am in a SP challenge to get off sugar.
Though I don't have deep cravings for it,
it is in almost everything packaged in our

Keep up the great work!

This is a great blog and something we don't always focus on (but should).

I haven't been happy with myself lately so I need to get back to doing what did make me happy. Thanksgiving was tough but that's a far gone excuse. I'm gonna just get back to basics.

I like your healthy life mods, it's amazing how easy they can be. I'm thinking or renting a locker for winter at my gym ($10/month), frozen shoes and clothes are no fun to put on.
What am I going to do to be healthy? Well, I'm still sick and closing the bar again, so not much. Going to the Y for a light workout and a long steam room. Eating lots of fruit and salad. Time for that workout. Have a good day. emoticon

Thanks for sharing. I also learned in my well being to healthy living, that it is very important for preparation. When I'm out and about, if I did not prepared healthy snacks, I have no choice but stoping to first food place. And I know it is not good for me, even though some of them carry healthy choice nowadays. For our physically and financially well being, we all shall prepared for ourselves.

Count your blessings . . .

Sunday, November 25, 2012

name them one by one. ~ Johnson Oatman, Jr. ~

There are so many things we can take for granted on any given day -- the sun that comes up each morning, the breaths we take, the roof over our heads, clothes on our backs, shoes on our feet. How about the blessings that you can't touch, like love, good health, or a kindness shown by another?

The adults in my family stopped exchanging Christmas gifts years ago. Instead, we spend time together. We have everything we could ever possibly need or want & time is so precious.

Today, count your blessings & think of ways you can spend time with those you love. Time is so short on this earth.

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

It's so each to go through a day and forget to give thanks for the host of blessings we receive from the big ones right to the littlest blessings. Good reminder to me that I need to practice thankfulness each and every day.

Letting things go.

Saturday, November 24, 2012

What are you hanging on to that you need to let go of? Your past? Bad habits? Anger? Bitterness? Frustration? Stress?

Sometimes letting go of those things that you have been holding on to for so long can help lighten your burden and stress level.

Exercise has helped boost my mood & keep my stress level very low. I have also noticed that because my diet is healthier, I have felt much better. When stressful things do come along, I am better equipped to handle them now.

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

I always love reading your blogs. They make me pause and think.

And with my post-chemo brain this can be quite challenging at times!

In the last few days I read a story (it could even have been on SP...) about a wise old monk and an eager new one. The old monk carried a rich old woman across a muddy stream/street but all she did was rant and bitch and berate him. The young monk was appalled, but the old monk seemed peaceful. Hours later the young monk was still angry at the woman's unappreciative behaviour and asked the old monk how he could stand people like that. He replied that he had relieved himself of the burden of her hours ago, and yet the young monk was still carrying the burden of the rude woman and had not learned to release himself from such weighty and negative influences!

Several years ago a friend told me "Don't rub it in, rub it out" - you are right to challenge us - what burdens ARE we unnecessarily carrying?
