Oh, the best is yet to come!!

Friday, March 15, 2013

This is a tough, tough journey. I guess what makes this journey different from many others is that we do still need to eat. It's not like we can quit our "vice" cold turkey, right? We still need to fuel our bodies.

I have learned so much about myself on this journey. I am learning that it's ok to feel hunger pangs. I hadn't felt them in years, now I feel them every day . . . and guess what?!? I didn't die!! I'm still here!!

I've also learned that I'm pretty tough & that I can hang with the big dogs pretty well in the gym. It's an honor to see some of the newbies try to hang with ME for a change. emoticon

Fuel your body with healthy stuff. That nasty sugary stuff just makes you feel terrible anyway. Look how beautiful this is -- all the pretty colors!!

Fruits make a great dessert because if you haven't been eating a bunch of sugary junk, the fruit tastes so much sweeter. I think our taste buds become deadened somehow by eating that processed goop.

Today, work for it!! Work for your dream!!

One other thing I've learned about myself -- I ENJOY going to the gym. Who'd a thunk, right? emoticon I was at work yesterday & I was thinking about going to the gym later in the day & I felt excitement!! I know how great I feel after an awesome workout. I never thought I'd get to that point in my life, but I finally have!

Do three things today that lead to your dream. Just keep pushing . . . the best is yet to come!!

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

Thanks for the inspiration and encouragement. How true, we can't quit eating like with other additions. We simply have to eat properly. I just had a sandwich and my dessert was an apple. It was sweet and hit the spot. I don't go to the gym as it is expensive so I work out at home. Wishing you a Blessed weekend.

You make a very valid point...you cannot quit cold turkey. Another thing, you cannot shut yourself in away from those who eat poorly either. You have to drive past fat food restaurants on your way to the store to buy healthy foods. It is probably the biggest addiction to overcome.

I also believe that Sparkpeople.com has the most wonderful and dedicated people around. I will never leave this group of focused people. It is my bible to health. I have learned so much about food, exercise and friendship here!

Keep fighting the good fight!!!

You can't outrun your fork!

Thursday, March 14, 2013

Here's the scenario: "I'll just have a little bite of that. I'll walk an extra 15 minutes to burn it off."

emoticon emoticon emoticon

DON'T DO IT!! It's not worth it. If you do that several times a day, you'll have to walk for 3 days to burn it off. (I'm exaggerating here, but you get my meaning). emoticon

Work toward your goal today. Keep it firmly in your mind all day long. Think about your goal until you can almost smell it & touch it!! Don't just "settle."

Remember who you what to be:

Because:

Today's challenge: Put down the cake (or other junk food) & step away.

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

I wouldn't recommend that. emoticon

Don't let this be you.

I've heard of those diddly squats before. You have to watch out for those things. emoticon (We totally need an ROFL emoticon, right?) emoticon

We're doing a healthy lifestyle here. Diets & deprivation make you cranky.

Yikes!!

Have you set your ending goal weight yet?

We need that ROFL again, but in the interim: emoticon

I wish you much laughter today & lots of happy Sparking!! Spark on!!!!

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

Get out of your own way!!

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

Most people will tell you that the biggest obstacle they face on the weight loss journey is themselves. We are our own worst critic & our own worst enemy sometimes. Don't let this be you.

Just do the work. It's that simple. We know what we need to do, we know what we should do. Just do it. ~ Nike ~

Make those healthy choices. Once you do it a few times, it gets easier & easier. Just keep moving forward.

Even if the scale isn't moving, just keep exercising & keep making those healthy choices.

Let this be your motto:

For 3 months, I "practiced maintenance" & the scale didn't move. The tape measure didn't move. I didn't give up. I kept going. I kept making those healthy choices. I kept exercising day in & day out.

SparkCoach had me update my goals last week & I reset my weight loss goal & deadline & started from scratch. As a result, my calorie intake reset. That's when the breakthrough came!!! If you've been stalled for awhile, maybe you should try that. I'm must a hair away from hitting my 20 pound weight loss goal. That's 10% of my body weight gone since I started. emoticon

Today's challenge: Every time you pass a mirror today, say to your reflection: "I can. I will. End of story."

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

Now you have a suggestion that will help me when I hit a plateau...and I know that day will come. I also benefit always from your motivational graphics, and love the one today about getting lighter with every step, as walking is the main (cardio) exercising I am able to do. emoticon emoticon

I am on maintenance right now. I know the scale isn't dropping but I am still doing healthy work on the inside because by laying off the drive to lose, I am driving myself to be healthy. Back to losing weight soon but for now, getting my head on the game.

I am so pleased you had a breakthrough! I think I might reset my goals when I go bak on the loss efforts. Sounds motivating. A clean slate! Thanks so much for sharing! Two heads are better than one!

Try something new.

Monday, March 11, 2013

I'm like most people -- I don't like a lot of change, but sometimes change is necessary. To keep from getting bored with my exercise routine, I've tried some new things lately. I've been hula hooping (how fun!!!) & I just purchased a Kettlebell workout that's a lot of fun. I have also tried jogging. I know that sounds kind of odd, but anyone who knows me knows that I don't jog or run unless I'm being chased & don't want to be caught.

When I was in high school, I had gym immediately after lunch. They'd make us go out there in the heat of summer & run a mile, after which I'd lose my lunch & have breathing issues. I didn't realize at the time that I had exercise-induced asthma & I wasn't diagnosed until about 3 or 4 years ago (as an adult). Now, I don't mind the jogging so much. In fact, my gym is having a jog-a-thon just for the fun of it & I plan on signing up.

I didn't used to do much strength training either, but now, I'm all about it!!! I emoticon my little girl muscles. emoticon The benefits of strength training are huge:

And there's nothing better than those sore muscles to let you know that you had a great workout:

Today's challenge: Go try something new today. It could be a new exercise or a new fruit or veggie that you haven't tried before.

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon
