Strength, patience & thank you!!

I can so relate to this quote. It's fairly easy for me to get in 60 minutes of exercise under normal circumstances, but controlling what goes on my plate takes some strength & willpower!! Measuring & weighing your food is crucial. I've learned that eyeballing it doesn't work most of the time because my eyes are bigger than my stomach. But, I am getting pretty good at being able to determine how much 3 ounces of lean protein is before I place it on the scale. emoticon I use my scale (thank you hubby), my measure cup & my measuring spoons every day.

Be patient with yourself.



Some things just take time. You are not going to consistently lose 1-2 pounds every single week. Trust me, I know! Just when you get going, life will happen & you'll have a setback. It's ok. Just do the best you can. Life happens to everyone -- it's just a fact of . . . well . . . life. emoticon

Thank you for reading my blogs, day in & day out. I was a bit afraid to put myself out there initially, so I was on SP for quite a while before I wrote my first blog. I am an "encourager" by nature & wrote my blogs for me because I need encouragement every day. I never dreamed that anyone else would be interested in them.

    Great blog and I agree with you about the measuring; I can under or overestimate a lot of things; meat is a hard one as was cheese. A scale can be a valuable tool as the things we need to weigh can make a big difference in calories if we're off by an ounce or so!

    I loved the exercise and plate comparison. Today I got up and exercised, the rest of the day was pure torture. We had a big dinner as my daughter came home to visit. I just had a hard time controlling myself. You write great blogs and they are precious. Thank you.

    I find just the opposite is true--I have no trouble sticking to a healthy 1200 calories--but I'd rather sit on an any hill than do 10 minutes of exercise.

Persistence . . . and Grace for Oklahoma.

I have always thought of myself as pretty persistent when it comes to some things. This problem with my foot has really knocked me for a loop. I know I'm going to get through this, it's just frustrating to have yet another setback.

Since Plan A is a no-go, well . . .



It's time to take the turn:



In the scheme of things, my problems are so small. Hubby & I watched the news last night & were shocked at the devastation in Oklahoma after that horrible tornado. My heart just goes out to them. My foot is no big deal -- it will heal in time.

    If you have access to a pool try water walking or even aqua jogging ... That will keep your cardio up and build endurance also ... keep the same form as on land and try to keep the same pace and you will see your heart rate raise up and have an excellent workout. I have severe foot issues and have had numerous surgery and any thing you can do on land you can do in the water I hope your foot gets better soon for you. As far as Oklahoma goes that is the saddest thing and my prayers go out to them in this horrible time.

I've been having some issues with my right foot for about a week. It's been really sore & by the end of the day after 10000+ steps, it's pretty sore & swollen.

When we came home from out of town yesterday, we went to the Urgent Care place so I could get an x-ray & make sure there wasn't a stress fracture.

No stress fracture, but there is severe arthritis in that foot & it is aggravated & inflamed. Doc recommended that I cut out walking/jogging, etc. for about a week or so.

Alternate exercise plans:

Core/abs
Arms
Non-impact lower body

I don't have access to a pool or a stationary bike, so I'll have to figure out something else for cardio. I welcome your suggestions.

Am I upset about this setback? A little. But this gives me an opportunity to try something new.

    I am sorry about your pain - Arthur is the worst!
Coach Nicole has a seated barbell workout that will make you sweat. And I know there are other seated workouts - check them out!

    Like GOLFGMA said, there are some sitting cardio videos...the trouble is you still have to use your foot in some way, so you would have to be very careful.

Maybe just some shadow boxing from a chair?

Praying you'll be much improved by the time your week of rest is over.

    Sorry about your owie . . . . but you're on the right track! Focusing on your core is always a beneficial option.
Hope you can soak your foot in warm epson salts baths while you're letting it rest

    O yuck! I'm so sorry to hear this. Cardio without weight on the foot? The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is bicycles: lay on the floor, legs up (90 hips and knees), and then pretend to ride. It really works the abs too.

    I have had to skip a few workouts lately due to eye surgeries. Two weeks without upper body strengths. I found some lower body exercises and seated workouts here on SP. Sure hope everything improves speedily for you! emoticon
