Hand in hand . . .

Tuesday, May 28, 2013

Could we all do this journey alone? Maybe, but so many times I look to you for motivation when mine is waning. Sometimes I look to you for inspiration. Sometimes I look to you for encouragement & support. I'm not sure that I could do this alone. I think I would have quit long before now. The SparkPeople community keeps me coming back.

So let's do this hand in hand. Whatta you say?

Let's lift one another up. By helping others, you are also helping yourself.

Let's all:

Let's do this hand in hand.

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

I know I can't do this alone...every time I've tried I've failed. We are all helping each other here, which is a beautiful thing. "Hand in hand" is a beautiful image and I will keep in mind. It takes away some of the fear to know that I have so many people to turn to when I need help or motivation. I only wish I'd come here sooner.

I could not imagine how motivating and inspiring it would be! I've met some fabulous people and I am continually reminded about how well Spark works if you just follow it! It really DOES take a village! heheh

Well stated, Nilla!

Shoot for the moon . . .

Monday, May 27, 2013

~ Les Brown ~

One of the things I was concerned about when I started SparkPeople was "dreaming big." I tend to be realistic to a fault & I thought I knew my limitations. So I set tiny little goals -- not big lofty ones.

I've learned that it's better if you do dream big. Set that huge & lofty goal, than make smaller goals along the way to help you get to that big one. I've also learned that I exceeded what I thought were my limitations. Now, I'm shooting for the moon!!! emoticon

Let's go for great!!

You can't reach your goal if you don't aim for it and:

I hope to reach my goal some day. I will get there because I am determined (stubborn). emoticon It might take me 3 more years (I hope not that long), but I WILL get there because I refuse to give up this time. The going may be slow, but I'm still going!!

Remember:

Let's get this done!!

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

You know, I've never been one to set small goals. Ever since I started SP, I've been aiming for what most people would think was impossible...but I figured if I was going to do this, I'd have to aim for the I'm Possible! (borrowed from Audrey Hepburn)

reading this brought my favorite quote from louisa may alcott-
far away in the sunshine are my highest aspirations,
i may not reach them
but i can look up and see their beauty,
believe in them and try to follow where they lead.

also another quote came to mind though i donīt know who it was by.
aim for the moon and if you donīt reach it you will atleast land in the stars.

Before I die, I want to . . . .

Saturday, May 25, 2013

My sister sent me an article that was in the digital version of our local newspaper on May 23. It was about a woman in New Orleans who used an old abandoned building to bring members of the community together for a common purpose. It was so very inspiring & I decided to try it here.

Here's the article if you'd like to read it. There is also a video included that is well worth watching:

news.fredericksburg.com/newsdesk/201
3/05/23/chalk-one-up-before-its-too-late/

Life is so short & I want to enjoy living whatever time I have left. I have some goals I want to accomplish before I leave this earth . . . a bucket list, of sorts. I'm sure I'm not alone.

So (I have many, many, but here are three):

Before I die, I want to . . . weigh 140 pounds again.
Before I die, I want to . . . encourage as many people as I can.
Before I die, I want to . . . visit Australia.

Now it's your turn.

Before I die, I want to . . . _________________________. [Fill in the blank with your reply.]

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

Before I die I would like to --
-- Reconcile with my eldest daughter.
-- Be a size twelve again.
-- See my youngest daughter graduate from college and well established in her career.
-- Walk pain free without a cane.
-- Teach a child to read.

Before I die, I want to weigh 150 which is what I was when I got married in 1963.
Before I die, I would like to be able to walk up the stairs without being in pain.
Before I die, I would like to retire from Avon before I turn 95.
Before I die, I want to become a better Christian and touch other people lives, like I have been touched to friends.
Have a Blessed Sunday.

Strength, patience & thank you!!

Friday, May 24, 2013

I can so relate to this quote. It's fairly easy for me to get in 60 minutes of exercise under normal circumstances, but controlling what goes on my plate takes some strength & willpower!! Measuring & weighing your food is crucial. I've learned that eyeballing it doesn't work most of the time because my eyes are bigger than my stomach. But, I am getting pretty good at being able to determine how much 3 ounces of lean protein is before I place it on the scale. emoticon I use my scale (thank you hubby), my measure cup & my measuring spoons every day.

Be patient with yourself.

Some things just take time. You are not going to consistently lose 1-2 pounds every single week. Trust me, I know! Just when you get going, life will happen & you'll have a setback. It's ok. Just do the best you can. Life happens to everyone -- it's just a fact of . . . well . . . life. emoticon

"Good things take time. Great things take a long time. And the best things take the longest time." ~ Unknown ~

It doesn't matter if the going is slow.

Finally, I want to say thank you!!

Thank you for reading my blogs, day in & day out. I was a bit afraid to put myself out there initially, so I was on SP for quite a while before I wrote my first blog. I am an "encourager" by nature & wrote my blogs for me because I need encouragement every day. I never dreamed that anyone else would be interested in them.

Thank you for your kinds comments, for your cardio suggestions when I hurt my foot (which is getting better little by little), for your prayers. Thank you for encouraging me. I am so blessed by each of you & I am honored that you are interested in what I have to say.

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

Great blog and I agree with you about the measuring; I can under or overestimate a lot of things; meat is a hard one as was cheese. A scale can be a valuable tool as the things we need to weigh can make a big difference in calories if we're off by an ounce or so!
