Persistence . . . and Grace for Oklahoma.

I have always thought of myself as pretty persistent when it comes to some things. This problem with my foot has really knocked me for a loop. I know I'm going to get through this, it's just frustrating to have yet another setback.

Since Plan A is a no-go, well . . .



It's time to take the turn:



In the scheme of things, my problems are so small. Hubby & I watched the news last night & were shocked at the devastation in Oklahoma after that horrible tornado. My heart just goes out to them. My foot is no big deal -- it will heal in time.

I am so thankful for God's grace!!

Today, please pray for Oklahoma.

    If you have access to a pool try water walking or even aqua jogging ... That will keep your cardio up and build endurance also ... keep the same form as on land and try to keep the same pace and you will see your heart rate raise up and have an excellent workout. I have severe foot issues and have had numerous surgery and any thing you can do on land you can do in the water I hope your foot gets better soon for you. As far as Oklahoma goes that is the saddest thing and my prayers go out to them in this horrible time.

Ouchy wow wow!

I've been having some issues with my right foot for about a week. It's been really sore & by the end of the day after 10000+ steps, it's pretty sore & swollen.

When we came home from out of town yesterday, we went to the Urgent Care place so I could get an x-ray & make sure there wasn't a stress fracture.

No stress fracture, but there is severe arthritis in that foot & it is aggravated & inflamed. Doc recommended that I cut out walking/jogging, etc. for about a week or so.

Alternate exercise plans:

Core/abs
Arms
Non-impact lower body

I don't have access to a pool or a stationary bike, so I'll have to figure out something else for cardio. I welcome your suggestions.

Am I upset about this setback? A little. But this gives me an opportunity to try something new.

    Like GOLFGMA said, there are some sitting cardio videos...the trouble is you still have to use your foot in some way, so you would have to be very careful.

Maybe just some shadow boxing from a chair?

Praying you'll be much improved by the time your week of rest is over.

    O yuck! I'm so sorry to hear this. Cardio without weight on the foot? The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is bicycles: lay on the floor, legs up (90 hips and knees), and then pretend to ride. It really works the abs too.

    I have had to skip a few workouts lately due to eye surgeries. Two weeks without upper body strengths. I found some lower body exercises and seated workouts here on SP. Sure hope everything improves speedily for you! emoticon

Stress busting tips.

One of my assignments on SparkCoach today was to come up with a plan for busting stress. I've been doing this for awhile now & I decided to share my tips with you. Next time you're stressed, give one or two of these a try.

You know I'm a visual person, so you get photos, too. emoticon emoticon

Drink a cup of tea (chamomile tea is very calming).



Take a bath.



Read a book or the Bible (this is one of my faves).



Listen to music (another fave).



Put on your favorite dance music & DANCE (this one's just down-right FUN).



Go get some exercise (another fave).



If you're stressed today -- try one of these & let me know how it worked for you.

Most days it seems I'll never get there. The scale isn't moving, I'm exercising like a crazy woman, I eat freggies until they're practically coming out of my nose (sorry, bad visual). emoticon I still have so far to go & right now, it seems like nothing is happening. Grrrrr!

This whole journey is one big mind game. I can be pretty determined (stubborn?) when I want to be & I can tell you that even though things don't appear to be moving right now, I'm not throwing in the towel. I feel so much better, look better, have more energy, etc. Those are awesome reasons to continue. I have a long way to go, but I've come so far. This is the least I've weighed in probably about 8 years. That's pretty significant. So right now, I'll be content at practicing maintenance. emoticon

I'm going to continue, even when it appears that nothing is happening, because I know that inside my body all kinds of cool healthy things are happening.



Even if you mess up, don't give up.



Strive for a few sore muscles -- it means you're getting leaner & meaner . . . well, maybe not meaner, but it rhymed. emoticon



There is nothing you cannot achieve. The possibilities are limitless.

    Hang in there! You can do this!!! I saw my doctor two weeks ago and whined about how slowly the weight was coming off, she told me as I get closer to my goal weight, it will come off much more slowly and to not give up. You're lighter than you have been in years, take pride in that! That's awesome!!!

    It all has a cumulative effect, it is weird. Sometimes the scale doesn't move but the tape measure does. Other times the reverse is true. emoticon emoticon

    Yes, my scale has been stuck in the same spot since March no matter how hard I work, so I just have to keep remembering that every healthy choice matters, every time! It is tough. May we find great success.
