Every day is a new beginning.

Tuesday, October 09, 2012

Sometimes we mess up -- we are human & we aren't perfect.

If you mess up, don't beat yourself up, just keep looking forward & moving forward. Remember that tomorrow is a new day -- a day to start fresh.

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

This is the verse of a song I really like called "This Island Earth"

If you're looking for a miracle, open your eyes
There was one this morning, just about sunrise
Dawn came breaking like a wave on the sea
And it's there for you and me.

Focus . . .

Saturday, October 06, 2012

Some people have a lot of trouble with focus, but I really have not been having that problem. I think it's because I am so DONE with being overweight & I need to do this for my health. My risk of cancer returning is higher because of my weight.

One other thing that helps me, and I've mentioned it before in one of my earlier blogs, is that I created the visual motivators as suggested by SparkPeople to help keep me on track.

Mine consists of 2 pages. One collage I named Motivation. It contains pictures of me over the past couple of years during my yo-yo dieting phase, along with the information I had listed on my motivation worksheet - my reasons for wanting to lose weight.

The second collage I named Inspiration. That collage contains pictures of me when I was in my early 20s & very fit & trim, along with before & after photos of people who have lost lots of weight.

I have a set of these pages on my refrigerator, a set at work & I have photos of the 2 pages on my cell phone. I have access to them when I need them & they help me stay focused on my goal. If I keep the goal in front of me at all times, I have no problem staying within my calorie range each day or doing my planned workouts.

Blessings to you! emoticon emoticon

WOW! You are so focused! You are an inspiration to us all. I haven't done a collage, but look forward to doing one over the next few days... thanks to you!

I too like the idea of it on your phone. I will go one step further and put it up as a screen saver on my computer, where I do all my tracking and blogging. Thank you! Great idea, and yes I too like you have come to that point that I no longer want to play games with my health, weight, abilities, now is our time NILLAPEPSI.

How to break your weight loss plateau.

Saturday, October 06, 2012

I've been on a plateau since September 23. Ugh!! But, I have been sick during that time & had to go off my allergy meds for a week to be retested to see how my allergies are doing. (They are much, much better, by the way -- allergy shots do work).

Anyway, I know that my body has been fighting, so I really can't fault it for hanging out at the same weight for awhile. But it is frustrating, to say the least.

So, I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing -- stay within my calorie range, do strength training 3 times a week & cardio 3 times a week -- until this annoying plateau breaks.

Once I hit the 15 lb. mark, I will post some before & after pics & then I can FINALLY download some new books to my Kindle. No new books until I hit 15 lbs. lost!!!

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

I'm going to put that Thomas Edison quote where I can see it often.

I hit about four plateaus during the six months that I lost 30 pounds. I just stuck to my guns eating the correct foods and bumped up activity a little bit. But I've been on a "plateau" for several months now so I need to try something different too!

One suggestion . . . try a different form of exercise. Our bodies get used to doing the same stuff all the time. That may be all you need to shake your body off the plateau.
