A Surprise gift for a Soldier

Monday, April 21, 2014

This week I will see my son.
He got married last June and left in July for Afghanistan. We are all excited to see him.
His sisters, wife, my hubby and I have decided to have his pickup truck detailed as a little surprise.
While speaking with the man who is going to do the job I explained that we would pay to have the interior detailed only. He said he would take care of the exterior of the truck for free as a token of his appreciation for my son going overseas to protect us.
What a kind gift from a stranger to a soldier.
There are many kind and wonderful people still left in this world.
I thought you would want to hear this story.

Dee - that's so very awesome!! Yes, there are very nice people in this world. I'm so glad he is back in the states safe!! is he at a base in N.C.? We are going to be in Iowa for 2 months. We have decided to sell the house there, so have SO much to do and I really don't think we can get it done in that amount of time. Our neighbors are a gal who is like a second daughter to me. He mom and I were BFF's since 11th grade (back in the 60's) way before you were born. Pat died of pancreatic cancer after beating breast cancer. Anyway, her husband will water our garden when he gets home from work and waters theirs. Bob has the hose in a spinning tripod so all Ed has to do is turn the water on and off. I'm so excited for you and your family for your son coming home. That's awesome!! Enjoy!!

Who am I?

Sunday, April 20, 2014

So My goal today...here in Northern Minnesota was to get off work at 6:30 pm and get a practice 5K run in (on the tar road) being it was finally 70 degree's out. It was 30 this morning when I went to work.
My goal was to break Friday's run of 1.2 miles without stopping..then continue with a walk/run until the 3.1 miles were complete.
Well...I seemed to have messed up the "APP" I put on my phone and ended up running more than I had planned. I finally stopped after the app said I had run 25 minutes and 1.87 miles. I took a two minute walk break and went on to finish my 5K with a run 4 minutes/walk 1 minute.
Honestly....I never thought I could do that...
Now for some asprin and head to bed...
Happy Easter everyone

a Broken Record

Saturday, April 19, 2014

After work last night I was determined to run just a little longer. I had already broke my record before work by running 1.0 miles NONSTOP. So with Hubby on his bike along side me we set off for the highway. emoticon
With the wind in my face my time was a little off but I managed all the way to the highway. 1.1 miles and then turned back and got another .1 miles before taking a walk break. Total run time nonstop was 1.2 miles. Total walk/run ended up being 2 1/2 miles with another 1.5 miles in the a.m. Not to bad being I also put in a 12 hour shift.
emoticon emoticon
I will continue to practice.
I hope you all have a great Easter!

Great job Dee!! We leave for Iowa on Friday for 2 months. When we come back down Bella and my DD will both be with us. DD can only stay a few days. She works at the Milwaukee Childrens Hospital. At least she can see our house and where Bella will go to school. It's been raining since last night and it has cooled off - in the 60s. I'm ready for some more sun!! Hope you have a really great Easter and an easy night at work!!

Can I?

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

I have 90 minutes before I have to leave for water aerobics.
I am in training for a 5K in May and have been on a walk/run schedule.
So far the longest I've run non stop is 5 minutes.
Right now I am going to break this record.
To Be Continued.........
emoticon emoticon emoticon
I did it! I ran for 10 minutes non stop. Then finished it with a walk for another 14 minutes.
Not too bad for a spur of the moment Challenge to myself!
