I have 90 minutes before I have to leave for water aerobics.

I am in training for a 5K in May and have been on a walk/run schedule.
So far the longest I've run non stop is 5 minutes.
Right now I am going to break this record.

I did it! I ran for 10 minutes non stop. Then finished it with a walk for another 14 minutes.
Not too bad for a spur of the moment Challenge to myself!

  


"She" did this to me...

Two weeks ago a Spark Girlfriend asked me to join a challenge with her.
I work 12 hours a day and have So much on my PLATE....but "She" is an important person in my life and I've been in on 2 other challenges and she was nervous never being on one.
I didn't want to let her down so I agree'd.
In the week it took for the team to start. I lost 1 lb. Today was weight in day/one week later and I lost another 2 lbs. It's an 8 week challenge.
Now I am super pumped although still super busy with all that is going on in my life.
Moral of the story you ask???

When you think you have too much on your plate....toss that luncheon plate out for a Dinner platter and reorganize your life. emoticon

Walk/Run

Quick update on my 5K
This morning at 3:20 a.m. I got up before work and walked 2 minutes jogged 4 walked 2 jogged 3..repeat until the 3.1 miles was over with.
I'm looking forward to my phone arm band to show up so I can use my new app. on my phone to keep track of this without me holding my phone.
As soon as I have a day off I will jog on the road instead of the treadmill.
Today I have no thigh cramping or shortness of breathe to report....woohoo
making progress

2013 Garden Potatoes

I just couldn't resist putting up this picture of the tail end of my garden produce from last year. I'm down to 8lbs of potatoes and SUPER happy I was able to go this long not buying from the Grocery store... emoticon

    Oh boy!! We planted potatoes for the first time, red ones. Also planted onions for the first time. We have 4 blueberry bushes and a dozen strawberry plants. Today we found peppers-3 different kinds, yellow squash, and a black zucchini. I wanted a spaghetti squash - they said it's a little early for that, so I will be on the lookout! Hope all is well with you and those new little grandbabies. You are so blessed! Your flower pics are beautiful! I'm hoping to dig up some bulbs in Iowa and bring them down here.     Awesome! My gardening son is home, so we have planted a few things. I am seriously thinking about planting an herb garden. He's made a dog run for the critters, so I feel like I have gained my backyard back. He is going to take a section along the fence and make a raised bed, should be interesting, and fun. See how knowing you has inspired me to new horizons, lol.

    That's awesome! I've started some tomato seedlings and onions for my siblings and my families. I love watching them grow and I can't wait to start gardening outside. We still have a lot of snow to melt.

5% Challenge-Firecrackers

I entered the 5% Challenge and was put on the Firecracker team.
I'm super excited and hope I learn the ropes quickly.
My Plan:
Is to keep up with Food logging. I like to think of myself as a Flexitarian.
75% plant based and 25% lean meat.
I don't eat anything processed and enjoy learning the Traditional way of cooking and fermenting.
My exercise plan is to continue on the 5K training program and water aerobics. I'm looking forward to our snow melting and I can get my bike out for a more well rounded cross training day.
I've updated my sparkpage to reflect spring and joining this challenge.
I'll be changing my Weigh In day from Sunday to Saturday also.

    Hmmm, flexatarian is my new word of the week, lol! LOVE IT! How is the training going for your run? I am still having some issues from my knee, so running is out. But I am planning on walking a 5K. There are a couple early next fall I am shooting for. Would love to be able to jog/walk one by then. As for now, I am thrilled that I am able to walk a mile now, slowly and surely it's getting better!
