You Go Girl!

Okay, so two weeks ago I announced that I was back on the wagon. I weighed back in at Weight Watchers and started back up on the C25K plan. Yesterday my daughter and I went out for a day2 week four work out. I decided that instead of running circles around the track that I would run the sidewalks of our neighborhood. While running a lady, a little bigger than me, rolled down her window and yelled out "You Go Girl!' and gave me the thumbs up. This was the second to last run, so I was pretty pooped, panting and red in the face at this time. I must admit, that it was a big boost to me. On my last run segment we ran pass our marathon running neighbor and he shouted out some encouraging words. I was just thinking that it really did give me the extra umph to have those folks cheering me on. I am looking forward to seeing the next "not so fit" jogger out so I too can roll down MY window and shout...You Go Girl (or Boy)!

    It's great to get that positive feeling especially right at the end of a hard workout. Good for you for doing the work out and getting back on the wagon. Maybe you'll be shouting at another Sparker sometime :)

Back on the wagon

Wow, I did it: I just registered for the May 7, 2011 half/half marathon. It was just this May that I ran my first 5K and after that summer came with camps, vacations, upper 90's and just lots more excuses I fell off of the wagon. I am scheduling to run a 5K on October 30 at night which should be fun and a 5 mile event on Thanksgiving. I have heard it said that in order to stay motivated that you must keep signing up for races. Well, here's to motivation. I go back to Weight Watchers tomorrow (after a 2 month hiatus )and complete c25k week 2 on Friday, so I am back up on the horse and ready to knock off the pounds. I am done with excuses. I need all of the prayers and support that I can if you read this and don't mind, say a prayer for me to keep on keep-in on. Thanks and God Bless.

    Thanks for your encouragement and prayers. I started week three of the c25k plan yesterday. I'm on my way to the October 30 night 5K. Sounds fun.

    I told myself I wanted to see how many shirts I can collect in a year from my first race. That is what is motivating me which is basically signing up for races. LOL I feel a bit intimidated by the Turkey Trot though. LOL I will be praying. emoticon

C25K update

Ran on May 1. It was a total high. I took off a couple of weeks and had to go all the way back to week 6 and I am spending 3 weeks completing it. A week on each of the three different day work outs. I really need to find another 5K to keep me focused. I am afraid of the heat in August and also would like a cheap one to get more of my family to do it with me. My brother-in-law ran with me and I am not sure I could have done it alone. It is such a mind game to get out there and run. I take my clothes with me to work and go straight to the track from work. It has been blazing hot and I probably need to run in the evening or early morning. It's just a challenge to get up early or at the end of a long day. We'll see. Any slow joggers out there?

    Sorry it took me so long to find this. Yup, I am a slow jogger. In fact, I call what I do wogging (walk/jog). I love entering races though. I know what you mean about the heat. I live in Florida and it was unusually hot and humid all summer. I try to run early, but don't always make it. The race I did in August looked like a swimming event. Everyone was soaked from head to toe when the race was over. The humidity really slows me down and you really have to be careful to make sure you are hydrated. I have never had the privilege of having anyone run with me. I usually end up trying to pace with a stranger, but that is how you meet people too. You had a good time. I hope you run again soon. I try to register for a race as soon as I finish the last one. That is the only way I can keep motivated. Nice blog.

Saturday is the big first 5K and I am pretty nervous/excited. Nervous that I won't be able to do it and excited that all of this training is going to come to a head. I have had a goal and I want to see it through. I know that this is just the beginning and have already decided that I am only running to finish and get a base time to shoot for the next race and see an improvement from there. Let's do this! Go all you c25kers!

I am so glad that I got on the horse and managed to drop 25 pounds this year. I have even bigger ambitions for 2010. Like running my first ever 5k...maybe a couple of them. I would like to see the 40's as my best shape ever. I was an active teenager, but that was 23 years ago. My kids need me to be out there running around with them, not laying on the couch or taking naps all evening long. I must double my efforts and be faithful to the plan. Lord, give me strength.
