Monday...Tuesday

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

Today was Tuesday but felt like Monday. Back to the regular weekly routine.
The day passed quickly, working on client tax work, handling some financial matters.
Had some "me time" talking to my sister. Her son is graduating from high school today.
Back in the routine, I was very good about my nutrition today. Kept my calories in range and healthy foods.
A new problem on the homefront today. Wasps! We found a few in the house. We are guessing they are in the attic and coming out through our attic fan. Any ideas on removing wasps from the attic are most welcome, as we are all afraid to go up and irritate the wasps.

There is a special spray with a long wand you can get from ACE hardware, it worked for us!

Yikes, I hope they either move on or you might need to call the exterminator. Don't let them move in, the nest can get huge.

What I don't get is why a short week feels so long!
Hope you get ahead of the wasps!

Wasps are not fun! We had the. In the house last summer. They got in a crack in the bricks and had a nest in the wall, then they were coming I to our basement through a pot light. We ended up spraying (I forget what) several times into the nest. I think the cold winter finally killed everything (at least I hope so)

Weekend too short!

Monday, May 26, 2014

The weekend was beautiful but went by too quickly! Had traditional barbeque along with salad and veggies. Also got to see oldest son this afternoon.
Didn't get too much done on To Do list this weekend though.
Back to normal routine tomorrow.

Grad Parties

Sunday, May 25, 2014

Just a short blog today. I had a lazy day today attending grad parties and seeing some friends who I had not seen in awhile. Was a beautiful perfect day in Michigan, sunny, pleasant temperatures. Nice to have a day like this just visiting.
Nothing big planned tomorrow for Memorial Day. Hoping my SparkFriends are having a restful holiday.

Long time since I have blogged!

Saturday, May 24, 2014

It has been ages since I blogged and I am blogging this week for our Spring 5% Challenge.
Where to begin? I haven't been too successful on weight loss lately, in fact I have gained recently. A team member posted a blog about a Plateau Busting Challenge and I am going to look into that. Maybe that will help get me moving in the right direction again.
It's a beautiful day today, but I have a lot to do at home, both decluttering, cleaning and financial stuff as well as some client tax stuff, and some personal financial catching up.
I will at least get out for a walk today, to enjoy this day.
Tomorrow, we have graduation parties so will be on the social circuit! One party is with one of my close friends, so I am looking forward to that.

Remember when we were kids and this was just a time to play? No cleaning or financial work? Ahh, youth! Wasted on the young, they say.
Hope you enjoy your parties.
Those plateaus are rough but keep on keeping on.

Getting Outside

Tuesday, October 08, 2013

Loved this Biggest Loser Dazzling Diamonds challenge to get outside. So simple and easy just to get outside at least 5 minutes per day! But it made me conscious to make sure I got outside each day. I am so glad because the weather in Michigan in fall is just beautiful. The weather has been warmer than usual, although finally starting to cool off some. Most days have been sunny, although there were a few rainy days this week. But even in the drizzle, it was nice to be outside and smell the outdoors. One of the things that is nice about being outside is that you awaken all your senses. Obviously there is so much to see and observe. But the sense of hearing is a big part of being outside, as the sounds are so different from the sounds of indoors. You hear the wind or breeze, the bird songs, the leaves rustling, the sounds of animals scurrying through the woods, and insects chirping. I love the fresh smell of the outdoors, the smell of the pines.
Finally, being outside is a chance to just enjoy the environment and be away from the normal daily cares. I think I may adopt this practice every day, just to make sure I get outside every day!

It's all too easy to get cooped up in your home. Getting outside is good for you. I was feeling the same way. I now have an alternative reason to get outside. I've got chickens now and a duck. I have to go outside at least twice everyday to get them in and out of their coop. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I love to get outside every day. I walk all year long, even in the snow and just revives my soul. Some days it might be a push for me to get out the door, but I am always so glad to have done it when I get back home. I agree with you that this is a wonderful time to be outside and enjoy the great outdoors!

Thanks for all the great comments! Lilydog11, I live in the woods, so all I have to do to get out in the forest is step outside! I see deer, wild turkeys, raccoons, fox, coyote, skunk and many birds, bluejays, cardinals, crows, hummingbirds, squirrels, chipmonks, turtles, frogs, snakes all without leaving our property! I do often go over to a nearby path through a nearby park to have a better place to walk, as I live on a narrow dirt road that is a bit dangerous to walk on (you'd be surprised at the cars driving 50 mph on this type of road). DR1939, I do like the idea of taking a cup of coffee outside to my deck in the winter. Winter conditions are very snowy, icy and cold here, so sometimes it is hard to get out. I may try to at least walk 10 minutes or so outside even when it is cold. May be invigorating and there is something about experiencing nature!
Amy, PawPaw is about an hour south of where I am in Grand Rapids. Not far at all and they experience winter too!

I love this time of year: although I am sure that your season change is much more beautiful than mine here in Louisiana

ps - my husband used to live in Michigan as a child and loved it and wants to go back one day. (I think he lived in Paw-Paw, Michigan)

In the winter when it is so cold and windy that walking outdoors is not good, I take my coffee out on the front deck and stand for five minutes. It brightens my day.

I think I will try to do the same thing, even if it is just walking around my back yard !! I am usually running an errand in the car going from business to business, but I really need to take in nature. Where do you go when out side, and for how long are you out there?? emoticon
