This a link to a great blog that is being discussed on the message boards today. I think everyone needs to read this as we truly are all our own journey and shouldn't judge others.

loved the blog. things like this make me see that my lack of motivation i fight daily is nothing compared to what others have to go thru. I applaud anyone who has a fight like that on their hands and over comes. I want to be like them when i grow up. (im 51 by the way)

Good story. I can relate to the message, too. You'd never know by looking at my rather small physique that I have been working out, at least 3 times per week, for over 40 years. I work out hard, too. But I admit, I haven't always eaten properly either, even though I continued to strength train.

    That's a very well-written blog.

We have both seen (we've all seen, I bet) judgments from others. What always dismays me is judgment from fellow Sparkies. And, yes, I have seen it ('cause I've used alli and I've had plastic surgery. There are people who think I've cheated).

Thanks for the link!

2nd 5K - June 14, 2013

Saturday, June 15, 2013

I ran my second 5K last night! It had been raining all week but the sun came out in the early afternoon and it was a gorgeous evening!

Before the race:

The race was held in a small seaside town near Boston and you definitely got the feeling that everyone knew each other. The race started with a long rolling hill and then down along a beach and back through town. People came out on their porches and cheered as folks ran by. The race ended on the track at the local field.

I ran it in 34:46! Almost 3 mins faster than my first race in April! My goal was to do it in 35 mins so I'm very proud of my result!

My friend Ryan and I after the race.

Now I have to sign up for race 3! emoticon

Wow, I am very impressed! I still can't imagine running. I'm starting to think maybe I should give it a try someday soon.

60 Day Challenge - Days 39 to 46

Friday, May 10, 2013

Yay, 16 days to go in this challenge!

I've been finding it very hard to blog every day.

I'm still on track but had a couple bumps last weekend. I saw my grandmother last Saturday. She was in rehab at the time and much better but I think it drove home to me that she probably will not be with us for that much longer. She's 89 and she could live for years but I saw how fragile she is. I got home and was really upset and ended up eating my feelings and felt so gross on Sunday. I still felt pretty bad on Monday so ended up walking home from work instead of going to the gym. It's a 3.5 mile walk so I had a good workout.

I've been consistent with exercise and nutrition all week so I'm very happy about that.

My trainer and I have our own weight loss challenge. Initially it was quite an aggressive weight loss goal so we've revised the deadline to June 13. My goal is to lose 10 more pounds by then, which is doable, to bring me to just over 50 pounds lost. For every pound I have lost to date, he will do two burpees or lunges. He is awesome!

I'm still going to videotape it. emoticon

You go - my stepmother was in the hospital last weekend and she is going to be 90 on Tuesday. I know exactly what you mean about the sudden realization of how fragile she is and the scary thought that she might not actually LIVE FOREVER - I was shocked when I lost both my mother (11.5 years ago, and my father 1.5 years ago - I really think I believed they would be the exceptions that proved the rule).

60 Day Challenge - Days 34 to 38

Thursday, May 02, 2013

I have been so busy I haven't had to blog so a very quick update. Everything is great.

No, really, I've been doing great with exercise ad my diet has been really good. I haven't been running as much, I've been going to more Body Jam classes, so I need to get outside more. I have a 5K on June 14 I need to train for. I want to beat my April 7 time.

My workout plan for the rest of the week is Personal Training session tonight, Body Jam Friday night, running Saturday morning, Body Jam and strength training on Sunday. Monday is a rest day. Tuesday, running...

In regards to nutrition, I've stopped eating added sugar again which really helps with cravings. I have two small pieces of dark chocolate everyday so I still get my "treat" but I'm not overdoing it.

I'm slammed at work and my grandmother is in the hospital (she's stable but weak) and my roommates are moving June 1 so I've been busy showing my apartment. All is good though.

Onward and upward....

Thanks! She's actually much better, relatively speaking. She's going to rehab today and hopefully will be home soon. She's very resilient.

60 Day Challenge - Days 31 to 33

Saturday, April 27, 2013

I had my weekly butt kick with my trainer Thursday evening and as usual, it was really hard but fun. We have a little weight loss challenge going on and he gave me another week to try to meet my goal. He's incredibly supportive and such a great motivator! I stayed within my calorie range on Thursday.

After work on Friday I went out for drinks with some of my workmates. It's been a crazy week and we really needed a drink!

Cheers!

Afterwards some of us went to Chinatown for dinner. I had seafood shanghai chow mein. Yum!

After dinner we went to a drag show. I had never been but it was really fun and some of the costumes and makeup was spectacular. One of the drag queen was a fantastic dancer and a great entertainer.

Miss Misery

I did go above my calorie range but got back on track on Saturday.

I got home really late (I'm normally in bed by 10pm!) Friday night and was hurting a little Saturday morning. But after lots of water, ibuprofen, an egg sandwich and lots of coffee felt better and I went to a Body Jam class at my gym. It was a fundraiser for the One Fund, which will support the injured and victim's families of the bombing. The class was fantastic and I felt great afterwards. We did a lot of old choreography, some routines I had really loved and it was so much fun to do them again. The class is so intense, I feel like I've sweated off at least ten pounds every class. After class I walked around the Back Bay. It was a beautiful day and so nice to be outside.

Another Body Jam class is on the schedule for Sunday and some strength training....
