MY BACKYARD!

Friday, February 21, 2014

Today when we were out and about we went by "our" beach just 10 mins from home and I took a couple of photos to share with you.

This is looking one way and the next is looking the other

The reef forms a natural barrier and keeps the sharks out. It makes two natural swimming holes. The people you can see are the local school children who are taken down in buses to "learn to swim". When they get a bit older they are taken along the coast a bit to learn to surf.

I hope all you people who are still shivering with snow and ice can breathe in a bit of our sunshine!

TGIF everyone and have a great weekend! emoticon

I'm glad you get to the beach....I used to live about a block and a half from the beach in Oregon and never went! Of course it's a little too cold there to do more than just wade - even the surfers wear wet suits year round!

My husband tells me about going to the rockpool in Kiama for sport when he was in high school.

12 MONTHS ON!

Thursday, January 23, 2014

Today is my first anniversary of being on Spark. This picture you are about to see of one sad old lady will never be published again. This was taken Christmas 2011 at my heaviest weight 106Ks 238.2Ibs.

My "AHA" moment came when in Oct 2012 I had a huge fall in a shoe shop, taking out a rack of shoes (how embarrassing) but also damaging me, not good for a then young 73yr old. I knew I had to do something. Christmas 2012 I was 103Kgs 231.75lbs. In January 2013 my DIL told me about Spark People. WOW, by this time I was 101Kgs.

My first goal was not to be called obese anymore ......done

In Australia we sell our potatoes in 4Kg (9lb) bags, I suddenly realized I had lost 2 x 4Kgs bags of potatoes.

Next goal was to get into Onderland ............done.

Now on my 1st Anniversary I have lost 16Kgs (36lbs) 14 Kgs with SP, = 4 bags of spuds.

Now I am ready to get on and remove the rest once and for all! I chose to go slowly and steadily, tracking food and exercise all the time. Being older I didn't want to get too wrinkly. Even though one of my Granddaughters has said " I miss my cuddly Grandma" I tell her I will probably live longer than that sad lady with lots of health issues.
My motivation for staying on track is to always go through the fruit and veggies first and there are the pile of potatoes. You know I can hardly lift those 4 bags, my poor body what it had to put up with.

What a difference a year makes, myself and my two sons Christmas 2013.

Now the BONUS!!!!!! When I started this a year ago I did not know about Spark Friends. What a bonus. My friends you know who you are, I cherish you, you are the best.

You should be SO proud of yourself.

You look fantastic and isn't it amazing to think we carry all that weight around. I am sure those bags felt VERY heavy and your poor body was taking that load every day.

Seems like someone will soon be calling it the SEXY 70's emoticon

WHERE HAVE ALL THE FLOWERS GONE?

Thursday, September 05, 2013

Right now in Western Australia it is wildflower season. Yesterday was a beautiful day and Don and I went to our local National Park to have a look and take some photos. I'd like you to enjoy them too. Do you see the bee on the yellow flower? This is Golden Wattle Australia's National flower.

Thankyou for taking the time to look at our lovely wildflowers. We are all so proud of them here in Western Australia. There are more coming out over the next couple of months, so this might have to be Part 1.
Take care everyone. emoticon

MEET THE LOCALS!

Wednesday, July 03, 2013

We live 10Klms (6miles) from "our" local National Park. It is a favourite with the whole neighbourhood and only 50Klms north of Perth CBD.
Let me introduce you to the locals that live their.
We have a Koala Colony

Also lots of Kangaroos
A spring fed lake with ducks and long necked turtles and Water hens And what do Koalas do in a heat wave, they flake out like the rest of us!
I hope you have enjoyed our special locals. Next time I will show you the other features of our special place.
Have a great day! emoticon
