My lilies are blooming, my hostas are huge, my squash are sporting big blossoms! Time to ramp up the grilling and start muddling the mojitos! My bucket is full of mosquito repellant and sun lotion and baseball caps...and my runs start earlier in the morning! Hope everyone is taking a big breath of fresh air and sunshine!

I seem to be on repeat. I keep losing and gaining back the same 5 pounds. I get down for a week; eat a bunch of sugary stuff all week (and/or any snacks that my family has in the house); skip my runs and walks or Kickboxing; gain back pounds with a vengeance and then somehow re-motivate myself to get back on track. Getting back on track is great but the long term effect is no real weight loss. I could be done with my weight loss journey by now but instead I am still at the starting line. Sigh.

how about 2 hi fiber waffles with a carton of greek yogurt; Nature's Path Heritage grains cereal with half a banana, handful of walnuts and soy milk; hi-fiber toast w/tub margarine and some cottage cheese with a Tbs of Polaner strawberry jam (that actually has fiber in it) and some strawberries or blueberries mixed in. And any breakfast can include an orange-to replace orange juice- as a better option.

My daughter has no real desire to run but she started training when people at work formed a group to train as runner entrants for the annual Susan G. Komen race for the cure. She knew I had been training for this 5k and thought she would try to join me...we always just walked it before. She's about 2 weeks into the program and she admitted to me that she hates running. She likes the idea of running for fundraising but the race is 38 days away and it feels a long way off. I realized that I could motivate her by attaching a dollar amount to each training run that would be donated to the charity on the day of the event. I rounded up a few family members to donate at least 2 dollars for every practice and feel confidant that this will keep her from skipping work outs...and I'll get a running buddy in return! And it motivates me to be an example for her. And it makes me realize that everyone has just need to find what fits the individual.

Why do I want to be stronger? I want to score a much better number on the Adult Fitness Test ( from the President's Challenge site(this one's for my ego). Also, I want to feed my inner tomboy and move from modified push-ups to standard...I mean, come on, it's been a year since I started doing them! And finally, I want to have great endurance. That means finishing strong in our 3 min rounds in kickboxing and it means becoming a runner! What will I do after I achieve my goals? I will proudly wear the bronze medal from the President's challenge...and start work on my silver! I will start learning more self-defense moves by taking a JKD class. I will join a running club and take advantage of the almost monthly 5k's in our area. Wow, I'm fired up now!
