Christmas mishap

Friday, December 26, 2014

I got up early today to run so I could get in 'me' time before family and friends arrived. Note: it had been +\- 2 weeks since I have ran so it felt great. I was almost done with a 6 miles and bam I went airborne. Fortunately, I was wearing long sleeve pants and shirt so the bruises could have been so much worse. The frustrating part, my left ankle looks like it belongs on an elephant more than me. :(

Other than my pavement encounter, Christmas Day was very enjoyable. Having a day to spend with great people was sooo nice.

Hope, you all had a lovely day too.

Christmas!

Wednesday, December 24, 2014

Christmas is almost here. Yeah! I used to really not like the holidays. Loosing my parents early in life had a lot to do with that, but I have realized to enjoy what I have now.

Hope you all have a great Holiday!

No more googles!

Friday, December 12, 2014

Yeasssss..... Finally made the decision to get eye surgery. After the past 2 years of dealing with days when I couldn't wear contacts, I decided to get the surgery. So far so good. I can see better than I did with the contacts/glasses. Yeah! No more fogged up lenses/smudges/etc... The down side - no running or sweating for 2 weeks but I think I can deal with that sacrifice. Walking and light weight lifting will be fine.

The US Post Office

Friday, December 05, 2014

I used to think it would a great job to work for the Post Office, but I have observed the last few years, people who work the counter and some mail carriers don't act like they enjoy their jobs. Today, the gal I saw at the Post Office who helped me didn't even say 'hi/good morning/etc'. I felt like she really wanted to say 'what do you want'. It is sad to see people so disgruntled when really they should be happy they even have a job and can keep it with such a poor attitude.

It all depends on the workers and their management...

Have sympathy for PO workers. Imagine answering the same questions again and again hour after hour for years. Can you blame them for not enjoying their jobs? That they are constantly threatened with automation and firing is not surprising.

Personally, I do not look for smiles from cashiers (and "Have a nice day" at the end of every transaction rings false). I ask only that they do their job without error and efficiently. That's what makes me happy.
