Still fighting the battle of eating out.

Saturday, August 21, 2010

Now I not only have my husband pushing me to eat out but my 2 1/2 yo grandson is in there pushing also. My husband would rather eat breakfast out then any other meal. My gs loves to go out to get pancakes. We pick him up every Tue. and Fri. for the day while his mother gets to take his little sister to her appointment on Tue. and not have to try to handle both of them. He tells everyone even strangers that Fri. is" I hop pancakes". I still try to eat as healthy as I can.

You could always try making pancakes at home and acting like you're in a restaurant with your grandson. Have all the toppings, but healthier versions that you would find in the restaurant. Good luck!

I hear you about the eating out! I do great at home, but my resistance crumbles in the restaurants- all that good bread, etc. Spending time with your grandson is worth a few extra calories. Besides chasing a 2 year old around has to expend some calories!

Stay strong! emoticon

Going to lunch

Saturday, August 07, 2010

We are going to lunch at Red Lobster today to celebrate my sister-in-laws birthday. I have been looking at their nutrition pages to see what I can order that will not take me over my limit for calories today. I am planning on ordering the broiled seafood platter with broccoli and garden salad. What I would normally order has abut 1200 calories and I'm not prepared for lunch to be the only meal I eat today. I can eat my salad with only vinegar and a little splenda because I do that all of the time. More on how I make out later. emoticon

I hope you plan worked for you. So often I have the best of intentions before I get to the restaurant. Then I smell the breads. Either way, it won't be the end of the world if you didn't follow you plan. Just hope you had a great time and enjoyed your sister-in-laws bday. Good Luck.

Getting control

Thursday, July 29, 2010

It's time to get my eating back under control. Going out to breakfast is trying to do me in. I have trouble eating healthy after eating a high calorie breakfast by trying to stay in my calorie range for the day so I don't always make healthy choices. I know that I need to try to keep my blood sugars in the right range all day not just for one meal. emoticon

I have a theory about eating out. I believe it is more of a social experience, more than anything. If you are going to eat out, breakfast is probably the best time to do it - you have all day to burn it off!
Maybe you can try and make healthier choices when you and your family do enjoy breakfast at a restaurant - portion control is extremely important when eating out as well.

Yea, that eating out is a killer. It's so hard to make good choices at restaurants.
So, I am eating at home because I am a slow learner. Good luck.
