Count down to Mardi Gras ball gown

Wednesday, February 02, 2011

So, I noticed my last blog was two years ago. I'm still here, still fighting, still about the same size, although I've been up and down in that time. It's been almost a year since I've been in the excercise routine. I've tried here and there with several attempts to get back in the habit, but no consistency so far.

I have a Mardi Gras ball on the 25th of this month and my brother and sister in law are coming down to go with us. My sister in law runs all the time and always watches what she eats, not to mention an enhancing surgery a couple of years back. She sent pictures of herself trying on dresses for the ball. THE HORROR!!! She looks simply AMAZING, even in the dressing room with no spanx. The challenge is on. I can't undo months, okay years, of neglect in just three weeks, but I can at least get on the path.

So, this is DAY 1 of my personal 23 day challenge.

Day 1 Wed, 2/2 No sugar, no sugar, no sugar
Day 2 Thur, 2/3 No sugar, walk 2 miles.
Day 3 Fri, 2/4 No sugar, walk 2 miles, water water water
Day 4 Sat, 2/5 No sugar, water, strength train upper body
Day 5 Sun, 2/6 No sugar, walk 3 miles, water, bed by 10
Day 6 Mon, 2/7 No sugar, water, bed by 10, ST lower body - Weigh In
Day 7 Tue, 2/8 No sugar, walk 3 miles, water, bed by 10, yoga in the AM/PM

I'll see how the week goes and set next weeks goals then. Hopefully I can wog (walk/jog) my miles by then. The weather isn't being very cooperative, so looks like I'll be on the treadmill.

Good luck! You'll see results if you stick to your goals and maybe do more as you go along.

Cleanse was successful

Tuesday, January 06, 2009

Much to my amazement, I made it through the 10 day master cleanse without fail. I lost 12 pounds in that 10 days and my stomach is flatter than it has been in a long long time. My pants are practically falling off of me.

I'm easing my way back into food. Fresh squeezed orange juice yesterday and today with veggie soup tonight for dinner. I cannot believe how excited I am about having vegetable soup! Tomorrow it is juice for breakfast with a bowl of leftover soup for lunch and a salad for dinner. No crackers with my soup, no blue cheese with my salad. I have to keep it to vegetables and fruits for 10 days following the cleanse. I'm still losing weight, another pound was gone this morning, that makes 13!

All in all, I'm very very happy with the way things went and I'm planning on following a schedule of a 10 day cleanse every 10 weeks. My next one will start on March 13th. I'm hoping the initial reaction will not be quite as bad as it was this time as I'm not going to be stuffing myself with crap. I've worked too hard to get it out. I really feel like my body is back to working the way it should and I want to keep it up.

I'm glad to see this was a positive experience for you!
I have been debating if I wanted to do this...not so much for the weight loss as the cleanse itself.

Day 5 of 10 Day Cleanse

Tuesday, December 30, 2008

I made it half way. Not much to say, yesterday was the same as the day before. Really sick of the lemonade. Last night I made my drink with a lime, that helped.

I do feel much better. My pants button easily and don't bind. My stomach is getting flatter every day. I don't have the junk hanging over the bra strap. My calves look awesome. Now if my butt and thighs would just get with the program!

Day 4 of a 10 day Cleanse

Monday, December 29, 2008

I'm trying Stanley Burrough's Master Cleanse and today is Day 4. So far it's been interesting....

On Day 1, I got the worst headache of my life (my caffeine addiction slapping me in the face) and I slept from mid afternoon till morning of Day 2

On Day 2, still had the screaming headache, went to see a movie and the smell of the popcorn about killed me. My husband sat there munching on popcorn and a box of milkduds. But, go me, didn't touch a bite.

Day 3, no headache, felt great, everything fine. Sick of the lemonade concoction, tried it with limes...yum. My husband orders pizza. You would not believe how long I silently debated whether one bite would really make that big of a difference. But, go me, didn't touch a bite!

So, today is Day 4. One of my coworkers heats up this ravioli in a spicy cream sauce, smells up the entire hallway. But, go me, still going strong.

When I started this thing, the day after Christmas, the scale said 167 emoticon! I've never ever ever seen 167, except when I was pregnant. But, christmas day I had ham and potato casserole and lemon pie and fudge and dr. pepper. Maybe that had something to do with it. Yesterday the scale said 161. So, hey, no pizza and no popcorn seems to be paying off. Even better than that, I measured on Day 1. My waist was 32.5". Yesterday, 31" emoticon

I'm going to stick to it the whole 10 days. I'm hoping for health improvements, getting some toxins out would be great, and I'm hoping for some weight loss as a side bonus, but most of all, I want to prove to myself that I can do it! emoticon

2 Days of Calorie Deficit Tracking Opened my Eyes

Wednesday, October 08, 2008

I've read through so many other posts about calorie deficit tracking and thought I would give it a shot. I calculated my resting BMR.

WOMEN: 655 + (4.35 x weight in lbs) + (4.7 x height in inches) - (4.7 x age in years)
MEN: 66 + (6.23 x weight in lbs) + (12.7 x height in inches) - (6.8 x age in years)

At 39 and 155 lbs, and 5'4", I have a BMR of 1446.75 calories.

So, then you take your BMR add your extra calories burned through excercise and subtract your calorie intake for the day. Voila, your calorie deficit.

Well, on Monday, I had a whopping, 562.75 lbs and on Tuesday, 334.75 lbs. So, altogether, 897.5 calories. That's about 1/4 of a lb.

So, my goal is 3 lbs in 2 weeks, not unreasonable, right? Well, do the math, 3500 calories a pound X 3 lbs /14 days. That's 750 calories a day deficit. We're not supposed to go under 1200 calories a day without risking the 'starvation mode' so that means, with my BMR, I've got to burn up at least 500 calories a day with excercise. Every day! Light bulb!
