NOT liking my Goodies

Monday, July 29, 2013 Goodies are fun--to give and receive--but come on, People!!!

Three of the five I received this past month were "Thank You" goodies.

This gives the false impression that I am a nice person. STOP IT!

Keeping Up? Or Keeping 'em Down?

Monday, December 31, 2012

ANDY_54 gave me a pair of roller skates (SparkGoodie) to keep up with my grandkids. Or she wondered if they had to keep up with me.

All this year I've felt it was the former, but at our family gathering the other night, I amazed myself (not at first...but later when I thought about it) by wrassling one of the bigger ones to the ground and taking about 20 forced pictures of her. (I'll post them later when I get them uploaded to the 'puter.)

The first photo I attempted to take of a group standing around included the 11-year-old who thinks she's fifteen (or older). She throws her hands up in front of her face, and says, "Don't take any pictures of me! I don't like my picture taken." That's all it took! On the ground! Flash in the face!

Her auntie says, "What are you talking about, you don't like your picture taken??? You're the one posting all those duck-faced pictures on FaceBook!" She was right.

Then it started...Grammy threatened to put every shot just taken on FaceBook. Then I'm going to raid her friends, and "friend" them all so I can show them the pics. Auntie to the rescue..."All you have to do is tag her, and it will show on all her friends' feeds automatically."

"But then I'll untag them," says the 11yo. Auntie went on to say what my next step would be...but by then I've lost the ability to follow the technology.

Last night 11yo has the nerve to change her FB profile pic. Of course I had to comment that I've got some great pictures of her she might want to use. The battle rages!

Seeing so much better...

Sunday, September 09, 2012

...that I had to go buy some weaker glasses.

After second cataract surgery yesterday, I put on my regular reading glasses today, and everything got more blurry with than without.

The doc said I need to wear some type of glasses (clear or sunnies) for the next two weeks at all times. So I had to go buy the weakest that they put out (over the counter).

I am encouraged by your report! Need to get myself to the eye doctor as I cannot see through one eye. Just got new glasses one year ago when I was told that I had the beginnings of cataracts. UGH! Getting old is definitely not for sissies!
Have a great day! emoticon

Glad to hear it. I just had my eyes checked no cataracts yet, but my vision had gotten worse. He wanted me to have bifocals but not sure I can deal with glasses like that and those cost more so went with the cheaper way for now since money is an issue. I got single vision glasses, and take them off whenever I am reading as I have done with my old pair before I got these ones since they are mainly for seeing far away anyway. But found I was getting headaches the first few days of wearing them especially if I was at the computer, so what I have done now is when I am on the computer I wear my old glasses and don't get those headaches just gotta remember to switch back to the new ones when I get off the computer so I can see things around the room and such. Good to know that the surgery has been a big help in improving your vision. emoticon

Private (and very personal) Joke

Monday, August 13, 2012

You know...the kind that is probably only funny to you (

Back on June 1st I updated my Spark Status to "Happy June!"

About the middle of July, I noticed it hadn't changed in like 42 updated it to that effect...and of course gave a shout out to July.

So yesterday (or was it the day before?) I saw that my July post was still there. Hence, my new update: "August? Already???"

WHAT??? I'm supposed to update it EVERY DAY? You're kidding, right?

You are so right, Partha...though it was messed up last time I guess I will have to do another calendar-related post...when I get around to it.

Wonder if there are any SparkAwards for leaving your Status for two or three years? There SHOULD be!

County Fair Blue Ribbon

Monday, June 18, 2012

So I entered a couple of my crochet projects in the local county fair this year--first time participant.

Won a blue ribbon for the afghan I made for my hubby. The photo doesn't do it justice, and my husband even complained that they did a poor job of putting it on display...that's when I knew he was proud of my work.

In the close-up you can make out some of the leaves in the border. It actually has roses and our names written in a 3-D stitch. Guess I'll have to get a better picture after I bring it home.

Then there was my 'also-ran' entry of my kitty's couch.

Ironically, I believe the winner in that category are the Pooh and Friends that are sitting on MY afghan. Disney out-cuted me!!!

I would not have imagined a county fair in the metropolitan area. Makes me think of little towns and farm country.
