Post Bob

Wednesday, April 23, 2014

Well it's been a while and as usual I fell back into old habits and ways of living. Eat too much, eat wrong types and times, and am pretty sedentary. I know all to well the fruit of my labor is extra weight, fatigue, and general all around having a poor attitude. Then Bob......

Turns out a family member, who has far exceeded my meager attempts of unhealthy lifestyle choices, has been in the hospital of late. Seeing him on the bed in the critical care unit unable to breathe because of fluid built up around his lungs and heart was an eye opener. Not to mention, but I am, seeing how diabetes has ravaged his feta, I am very motivated to make some lifestyle changes now!

So this is my time line moving forward, Post Bob (PB).

I have just secured a fishing kayak so I get a lot more exercise now when fishing.
I have got up and started working more in the yard, that's hear stuff at this point.
I am back to tracking food intake, and making better choices.
I continue to track all my steps taken in a day.

So here I go......weeeeee

Woke up well today, I think I have my meds dialed in better:) almost a 1000 steps in before 0830! All in all feeling good. Now the difficult task of staying focused throughout the day lies ahead.

Well done about 3.? Lbs this past week. Went out on the kayak twice, did lots of yard work, and was pretty good with calorie intake.

Well I have been away for a couple of months almost.....of course it wasn't because I was doing so well.....just fell away. I let some life events get in the way, along with a few bottles of beer and scotch, and just wallowed in the pit of stress I like to call life.

Can't say that I am done with the wallowing just yet as my house is NOT in order....this being a geographical bachelor is for the birds.....BUT looks like the light at the end of the tunnel isn't a freight train.....just a VW bug.

Got my marching orders, love the military, and am now enjoying the stress of just handing in my 2 week notice, so $$ will get tight here in a couple of weeks. I will be putting my house up for sale, the one I just bought a year ago. And I get to pay someone to move the rest of my stuff.

Other than that not a lot going on, oh did I ever mention how much I detest the cold. Not just because it is generally uncomfortable, but more so since my military career put a lot of wear and tear on me.......just not a great time for me physically, mentally, and emotionally.

However, all that being said I know there is a grand plan, and I am fortunate that I don't have to strap my legs on in the morning, and I have been amazingly blessed all these years. So I will shut up now.

See Ya'll later.

Well this week is going to be a full one. I have some work being done to finish the basement, city inspections, movers, the realtor, and a decision by a couple if they are going to buy the house BEFORE it goes on the market. Should keep me occupied as I have lots of time now that I am unemployed(my decision ).

Well that was something. I know what you mean about the cold. That has got to be depressing to have to sell your house. I'm looking forward to reading more blogs and seeing you on the team if it takes off.

What a great way to look at things! It's not always easy seeing the positive in situations, but it does help. Where are you moving to?

My 15 year old son wants to join the Army or the Marines after high school. We'll see if he sticks with it.

Thank you for your service and I wish the best in 2014.

well today is the anniversary of my enlistment in the Air Force 29 years ago! I have been retired for 9 yrs already......but still working of course as one can't live on 1/2 of what you already couldn't live on:) Not complaining though to be sure! OH and down a pound, who would have thunk that just watching what you stuff in one's pie hole could lead to positive results?

I love the "forgive" yourself comment. I think we all hold ourselves too accountable, at times. We all are human and "mishaps" will happen. The question is what do we do with a mishap. I think they are moments to learn something and to realize that the world won't end with one little mistake.

Nice blog. The hair is nice, too. emoticon
