I am in the clouds, my great niece is in remission, and has tolerated chemo well, my family are all healthy and I have been staying the course. Another beautiful day and I didn't give in to temptation over the holiday season. "Pat pat pat pat." That is me patting myself on the back. Thank you to all who have encouraged me and I wish you all a wonderful day. Now to get to work. Oh yeah, yesterday was my 33rd "aniversary" with the County of Los Angeles. And I thought I was only going to be working here for five years, How the time has flown by so quickly.

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

Today we had our annual "Health Fair" at work and I was pleasantly suprised to find out that my numbers are much better than last year. My cholesterol, blood pressure and glucose are down, my muscular strength is above average. emoticon What a difference the gym, watching what I eat and Sparkpeople have done for me! emoticon Thank you all for your encouraging words.

Reassessing

Friday, August 09, 2013

I had a up and down week last week. I received notification that my great-niece has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Talk about terror! She just turned three last week and she spent her third birthday in the hospital. I have had some experience with cancer because my brother is a five year survivor of cancer. They told us to make funeral arrangements because he would not live out the week. Fooled them didn't he? Once I gathered my wits, I was able to listen to the prognosis and found out that the type of Leukemia that she has is fairly common and that she may outgrow it. Talk about relief. She is currently on a treatment plan of 28 weeks of chemo. She has been a trooper and has tolerated the chemo very well so far. She has been released from the hospital and has to go in weekly for her chemo. This health scare has made me reassess and more determined to live my life in a more positive way. Life is not promised to anyone.
