Well Here I am 5 lbs heavier. In less than 3 weeks. How can that be???? Is that part of diabetes. ? I thought I was eating really well. Salads with supper no potatoes. Lots of fruit. I am so frustrated. I hate being negative Nelly. I feel like a have to dump these feelings so I can regain my balance. I don't want to give up. BUT I do feel like punching the crap out of a pillow. Ahhhhh Geez.... deep breaths, in, out in, out. Ok back to the drawing board. I WILL NOT QUIT. I will not let this very large beach ball I am carrying around rule my life. I have let it win way too often. NOT THIS TIME. Thanks for listening guys :)

I agree, take a look at your fruit intake.

Are you tracking your nutrition and fitness minutes? How long since a doctor's appointment? Unexplained weight gain can also be a symptom of conditions like under active thyroid. The scale (and the body) can do weird things.

I admire your attitude that you are going to keep pushing through this time of frustration!

I'm thinking of you.

Hey... take a look at your fruit intake - they are healthy but still sugar. I agree with the others though, it's probably just water weight! emoticon emoticon

We are here for you. Keep with it! Is there any chance you would try Spark coach? Sometimes there are things that we as freinds cant offer you...we love you and want you to succeed. But you do have some challenges that most of us don't have and our journey isn't going to be the same...or allow us to give you advice that may or may not be right for you. With the coach you could set up a program specific to your back issues...diabetes and it is free to try. This would get you on the right path and then you could try it on your own. I am really proud of your outlook! You can do it...let's find what you need to succeed!

I agree with RISAMEANSLAUGH - have you tracked your inches lost as well as pounds lost? You might be really surprised at your results emoticon You've got the spirit and motivation going for you - the rest will come. Diabetes does make weight loss harder, no doubt about it. Hang in there and know we're rooting for ya! emoticon

    Dear SPGO50,

You've got the right perspective, "dumping feelings . . . to regain balance". You sound like you're doing the right things, just keep at it. I find tracking daily helps but I have lost inches NOT LBS (sad, but true). However, I -- like you -- refuse to give up! Keep up the good work and don't quit!

In the meantime, take good care!

You've got company in the boat if there's room to fit my beach ball, too.
Sometimes it can be water retention . See what happens in a couple days.

emoticon job not giving up. That's the key I think. Try, try again until we get it

HELP !!!!!!!

Tuesday, July 09, 2013

I am having a hard time figuring out where, how to use this site. I think that is why I keep backing off. I don't want to do that this time. I want to stick with it. I can tell that this site will be very useful. I am still gathering my info for Diabetes. There is a lot to do. I have been eating better. I think. emoticon My problem is the exercise. I know I need to to it. Because I have so much pain it is difficult to do the exercise. Hmmm maybe I am using that as an excuse much more than I should. I bought an exercise chair that I have yet to use. I know it would be good for me to use. Ahhhhh ....sometimes I feel like such a whiner. I am not a stupid person, my brain knows what I should/can do. Then ego steps in and tells me it is too much. ARG........ emoticon

Hi SPG050 - I hope you are hanging in there. I know what you mean about the website - it has a bewildering amount of stuff. I like to read the articles -they really help. The quizzes are also fun. Maybe the challenge with exercise is how you define it - as someone looking forward to retiring at age 65 in 2017 - I can relate to what you say and what you want to do. Finding a balance between being less mobile and still staying active is important - how you define exercise is important too - don't be discouraged because you aren't doing what you think you should be doing, but be happy with small steps. Take 3 laps around your living room or do what ever small movements you can do and then keep at it and slowly add to it. Think about small activities that you can do now that might be fun - even standing up for awhile as you do a favorite craft can be good. emoticon

check out my trackers I have shared on my sparkpage....you can copy and paste the exercises in the site search bar to find the videos and demos....you don't need to start with all of them...just pick one and start...that is the most important thing...you have to DO. I highly recommend the 11 min cardio with coach Nicole. sparkmail me if you have any specific questions on how to use the site...I'll be happy to help

You may want to discuss any exercise program with your doctor before you start anything. He/she should be able to give you a good place to safely start your work outs.

I think you are doing great on the site. It has a lot to offer...so keep it simple.
Track your nutrition for calories and sugar.
Track your fitness minutes.
Check in with your teams. They will motivate you and support you. And we learn so much from each other.
You are positive so you will attract positive people. This will give you positive energy. Your wishes are powerful! If you feel trapped then this will be what you are. You get back from the universe what you think or say....so think freedom!

As far as fitness. Start really simple. 5 mins every hour. Or 15 mins a day. I don't know you well enough yet...so I don't know what you need to hear.
I hated the fitness at first...I walked and would smash down my excuses with each step! emoticon
I know your health issues can seem like a challenge to do fitness...truth is you are amazing and you have figured out a way to live your life with these disabilities...your challenge is finding fitness that works for you with these disabilities. Right now these illnesses take up a big space in your body. As you get full of fitness...the space in your body wont have room for these illness and they will get smaller.

I have been exploring the web site ......please forgive me if I don't reply right away. I am still trying to figure where the heck messages, comments, mail are. I hate the way I am feeling these past days. My sleep is awful. When tired I ache all over. Hmmm maybe I should have some cheese with this "wine" LOL. Enough!!!! Get up and mobile. Thats what I need. It seems like I am awake for 2 hours ,sleep for 1. You do what you gotta do. On a good note I have joined some teams. Not sure what that entails but I will learn. Got my hair done yesterday..that made me feel real good. Ok...going on my balcony to get some organizing done before our next heat wave strikes. Life is good. See ya

Hang in there. There is so much information that it is overwhelming at first. Once you start to get the feel of it all it seems to flow. If I can answer any questions, just ask. You can either leave a comment on my Sparkpage or send me spark mail if you do have questions. There is a lot of good support on this site. Good luck!
