Good Post - About Not Needing Medication

Monday, January 15, 2007

One of my favorite types of testimonials is when I hear from members who start making healthy lifestyle changes and then don't need to take medications they had been taking.

Here's an example of one from yesterday:

AJAXN2002 has just submitted a new topic.

Title: One week into this~~~I fell asleep unassisted!!!!

Message: I have horrible insomnia and always take something to help me unwind at night. But after one week of healthy eating and alot of cardio, I was just TIRED last night. I drifted to sleep on my couch, my husband could not believe it! I NEVER SLEEP!! It was such a fabulous feeling to feel tired muscles. I felt like I was really accomplishing something!!!

I too have been sleeping regularly. Previously, I wake up constantly, often not being able to go back to sleep. Since I have been keeping track of my food and my cardio, I am sleeping like a baby. And I wake every morning feeling refreshed and surprisingly excited about starting my day.

As much as weight loss is a goal of mine, becoming healthier and getting off my meds is really what I want. I WANT to live longer and the only way I can do that is to become healthier. To no longer take my blood pressure meds and anti-depressants, anti-anxiety/panic meds and have my cholesterol readings come down....THAT would be heaven.

Overall health, that is really my goal.

I have been blessed by that relief myself ! I was on pain meds and anti depressants for 10 years...I lost 53 lbs and took up yoga and found this web site and the rest is ancient history ! I have been off of medication now for 1 and half years and I feel and look like a whole new woman !

Thank's Spark !

I love this site and I have met so many wonderful people here, it has really changed my life for the better and made it worth living again ! Each day I try to reach out to as many people on here as I can and spread that spark !

Hello Everyone

Our team came up with a good idea. One thing I love doing is looking for great posts on the boards and even from blog posts on other sites about SparkPeople.

I'll now start posting those that I see on this blog. Other people on the SP team will post here too.

Happy Friday to all!

I like this idea. Being able to locate support, encouragement and inspiration readily facilitates our journey. Knowing where to turn is extremely helpful, especially during those overwhelming times. emoticon

Thank you so much for doing this. I was searching for some support to help me and just happened to find this site one day. I know it was not just happenstance but divine guidance.
I am 67 years old and this is the first time in my life that I can truly say that NOW is the time and seriously mean it, that I MUST get myself into a healthier life style.
Most of my life, I didn't have a problem with weight and having 6 active children kept me young. Now that I have retired, I have fallen into bad habits, and have put on a lot of weight. I know there are lots of programs out there and things for retired couples to do. However, my husband is a couch potato and prefers to stay at home. It is a challenge to do things by yourself. He also has bouts with clinical depression which tends to shade some of my days fromhis attitude splashing over on me.
Your program offers more than I have ever seen on the web all on this site and it is free.
I thank God for your willingness to help others in this way. I know that I am not alone when I say you are God sent. I pray that you and your organization be blessed with all good things as you continue to move forward with success in all that you do and thank you once again for inspiring me and so many others to dare to take one more chance and get going...Thank you ALL for your encouragement and all the help you are giving all of us out here searching. I have already told others about this site. How could I not spread the "good news"?
