Thanks for all your hard work. I am new to sparks but I am having a blast. I do have a question. Is there a way to add a buddy? I know it asks if you are looking for one, but once you have found one, is there a way to make it special on your page? Thanks for your help in advance. Colleen

Oddly enough, I've had a red squiggly line showing up under any misspelled word in my posts for a long time, though the "Spell Check" button itself is new. And when I right-click on an underlined word, correct spelling options appear for me to choose from. Is this something my browser (Mozilla Firefox) does on its own, and NOT a Spark function as I'd thought?

Congratulations to all 3 of you wonderful ladies. I get Woman's World every week and I continually see the magazine featuring this diet, that diet, lose 10 pounds in a week, etc. Well, I picked up my issue as usual and saw on the front page about another new weight loss program. I checked it out, read and re-read the article. I figured I would look into it. That was on January 15th 2008, on January 16th I signed up to SparkPeople. Since that time, I have lost 20 pounds, exercise everyday, use my treadmill that had been accumulating dust, began eating healthy. I have been planning my meals, faithfully entering all the areas that Spark People offers. At first, I was a little apprehensive about finding my way around the different areas on the site, but I found a wonderful team right away (talk about kismet). They helped me so much it was unbelievable. Already they seem like an extended family. I have also accomplished something I have not done in 24 years. I went skiing at a local ski area that has an adaptive ski program for people who have physical disabilities. The last time I went, I skied from the top of the mountain! Is that a motivator or what. Thank you ladies and SparkPeople from the bottom of my heart.

Ellen invited the three spark girls (ThinnyMinny, Mrs. Honeycomb, and Fruityful) to blog on her site. It is a great opportunity for us to "continue the conversation" and to let more folks know about Spark People. I think she is really supportive of us and Spark People. If you would like to reach our Ellen blogs, just go to www.ellen.warnerbros.com and scroll down the page 'til you see the link to the blogs. Please leave us a message if you will; that will let her know the blog is actually reaching people.

I watched the Ellen show even though she turns my stomach. I thought she was almost rude and making fun of the whole idea.
She didn't give them enought time to say much of anything and so my question was..Did she just use this as fill in time when she had nothing to say... Don't be sorry that you missed it cause if you blinked your eyes you would have missed it anyway. Just my opinion sorry if someone else thought it was great.. Maybe part of it is that I get disgusted when I see her anyway. lol

I saw the Ellen show it wasn't until almost the end that they were on. She kind of rushed through it and Ellen was doing a bit of joking about it, not much, but I think, enough of it to see by my eyes, which was I'm not sure too well accepted by the 3 ladies as well I think that they were hoping for a little more serious discussion and not just a little excerpt at the near end of the show. But it was ok. I didn't feel as if they got enough time to talk about things.

I just watched the video about Mr. Downie- founder of the site.

I have to say, I am more motivated than I have ever been in my life- even including the first time I lost weight after my daughter 20 years ago. (I kept that off for 15 years!)

What an a incredible person to do this for the millions of desperate americans who feel they have no place to turn- and can't afford to pay membership dues to stay alive!

I cried- Hats off to you Mr. Downie!!

I first heard of SparkPeople through a repeat on Nov, 19, 2008 of E! True Hollywood Story Investigates: Diet Fads. I've only been a member for a couple of days, but already I am so inspired and motivated. No more crash or fad diets for me! Thank you so much SparkGuy - this time I KNOW I'm gonna make it to my goal weight! emoticon

Seeing this website and listening to the people that were using it is why I joined SPARKPEOPLE. In the past two weeks, I have referred four people to this website. So far one has joined and the three others say they are planning on joining, I sure hope they do. This is one of the best online programs that I have seen our used. It is very user friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for starting this website.

I am proud to say that Kristina is on my SP Biggest Loser Challenge Team and we are just so excited to have a "celebrity" among us. I've known Kristina (through the BLC) for almost a year and she's such an inspiration and friend to us all. She did tell us she wished they aired more of what SP is about seeing how her and Tina were both interviewed for about an hour each. So it really was E! that decided what they were going to air. They talked about a lot and it just wasn't shown.
Chris / Sparkguy - I too want to thank you for creating such a wonderful site. Everyone should be so lucky to be involved with such a great program and "family"!! Tammy F. , Niagara Falls, NY

SparkGuy...if you're reading these...Thank You For your magnanamous decision to start such an educational, motivational, inspirational, and incredibly supportive community and all for FREE! You do understand however that there could be one bad side effect to all of these pounds being lost for good though don't you? The Earth may start spinning faster due to the many, many pounds that are being lost and who knows perhaps cause some sort of natural disaster :D Thank you for trying to make America healthier and happier.     Garint, I wish they could have talked longer also, but I was glad to see that they were on at the end of the show. I thought it was important that they ended the show with a healthy alternative to all the other approaches.     I was very proud to see how positively they presented Sparkpeople, I just wish that they would've gone into more detail about the Sparkstages, told about Sparkrecipes.com, and explained that you don't have to use the meal plan suggested if you don't want to, and about all the articles on every health & fitness topic you can imagine. There is so much good about Sparkpeople, and they barely scratched the surface!!

Announcing SparkAmerica

Thursday, December 27, 2007

We're extremely happy to announce the launch of SparkAmerica today. SparkAmerica is basic in its premise, but we believe hold lots of promise and potential.

Basically SparkAmerica is a fitness minute challenge, where we are challenging our members to exercise and track 1 billion fitness minutes in 2008. We have put some new tools and pages in place to keep overall site totals, as well as individual and team totals. There's no new tracking required from you as a members, we aggregate the tracking you do in places like the calories burned tracker, strength tracker, and Quick Track.

We are excited about SparkAmerica for many reasons but 2 big ones are:
- That we feel consistent fitness is the springboard to many many goals, and SparkAmerica is a fun new challenge to help more people exercise consistently.
- SparkAmerica is something anyone can do, including people who don't need (or don't want) to lose weight. While we love that SparkPeople helps millions of people lose weight and get healthier, we are happy to expand our offerings to apply to anyone.

You can click here to read more about SparkAmerica

    Hi Everyone

This is one of the most exciting features we've ever launched for me. Going back to the very beginnings of SparkPeople when I was a kid, the combination of consistent fitness and goal-setting was the foundation of me overcoming anxiety to reach many goals.

I honestly believe this program could help millions of people reach so many goals in life if we all spread it around and follow it.

I'll be posting my fitness minutes almost every day in 2008, I hope you'll join me as much as you can!
