New Year.. New Me.. New Changes..

with the start of the new year i had so many good intentions.. start out the first 15 days great... but i decide to do something for me.. take some classes so i can get my customs brokers license, which will require mega hours of studying.. take care of me. work out every day.. and wham.. my grandson is back in the hospital.. after a tough douple of days in the hospital we have him home trying some options before we are forced to have him have stomach surgery.. BUT.. the good thing.. i ate healthy while at the hospital.. did not get my 1200 calories.. but stuck to salads and fruit while i was there. i did leave friday night and did go line dancing so i got some excercise in (besides walking the halls). We have D home for now so i am back at it.. studying, (bought a lap top now so i can do my excercise videos anywhere...) back to work, back to boot camp, yoga, cardio, butts and gutts and line dancing 7 hours a week.. im working at it.. without all the support here i think i would be lost..

it really bites.. been working hard all week to eat 1200 calories.. i have been between 1000 and 1200 and i gained 1.5#.. keep eating at 1200 and ill gain 30 by the end of the month.. and the only liquid i drink is water.. at least 114 ounces a day

    I had the same problem this week..It happens sometimes. I would recommend to eat closer to 1200-1300 calories(1000 isn't enough) and that you add a little more protein for breakfast. (Even WW says to add protein - I think your body had to work harder to burn it up - that raises your metabolism.)

    Are you eating enough calories to counteract your calorie burn? If you eat too low, your body can go into starvation mode & have the opposite effect.

Something to look into if the scale keeps going up.

    Stay positive. The scale doesn't always reflect the big picture. I chart my weight daily but, I judge my success based on what I have lost in a month.

Try eating your calories spread out during the day to keep your metabolism burning fuel. Don't skip breakfast and make sure your meals are balanced with lean meats (for your muscles) and complex carbs like veggies, fresh fruit and whole grains (for fuel).

Drinking 8 glasses of water daily is important too. It helps with digestion, metabolism and reduces water retention which can make that scale go up.

Changing up your exercise routine might just kick-start that metabolism. Our bodies get used to what we eat and do and adjusts to keep our weight steady. That is wonderful for survival but, not so good for weight loss. We have to keep our bodies guessing. Try new exercises and try new healthy foods.

I gained 6 lbs. over Christmas and was depressed and couldn't seem to get my Spark back but, I never gave up on myself. I re-commited to exercise and even though I was eating over my calories, I tried to eat healthy foods and now I am almost back down to my pre-holiday weight and ready to move on toward my goal.

Stay focused on what you have achieved so far and compliment yourself on what you are doing right and that you are commited to this journey. Your feelings right now are temporary. Once you see progress again you will feel happy again. So with that said, keep working toward getting healthy and the happy moments will out last the unhappy ones.

This is a journey with ups and downs so your "up" is right around the corner. Keep up the good fight!

  poor you :-( it sucks to do all that work and not see the scale go down but it will work if you keep doing it it has to.. right? try to have a positive attitude and go for another strong week add water and you will have a good weigh in next week...

so far the year is going well.. Im staying on track calorie wise and am working out daily, and expanding to doing different cardio workouts.. of course i am not seeing any results yet.. but I have nothing but time.

as we reflect on our successes and failures of 2011, may it help us to determine and set our small goals for 2012. Every year is filled with success and failures.. but often all we reflect on is the failures. Remember your success first before moving on to adjust your goals for 2012.

    I have been reflecting on my 2011 successes & actually have gone back as far as 2010 when my journey to a healthier me began. I'm going to share that blog soon!

It is easy to focus on the failures but we need to remember the successes!!!

Here's to a great 2012 & all of its healthy and fit possibilities that come with the New Year!

I made it through the holidays with families without breaking down. I did enjoy my christmas present to me Ethel M's chocolate pecan brittle.. i savored every bite.. and i counted it in for calories. I m once again on the Merry go round to changing my life. I will succeed !
