Haven't given up...

Friday, March 07, 2014

But today just isn't the best day to exercise.
What do you do when you're feeling sick?
I had a lot of gardening lined up today and I have done a tiny fraction.
Guess I should have taken some wipes with me for the shopping cart handles at the plant store. I've got an ear infection and a cold. Just feel punky and icky. Not that sick, though.
But did get a few things out of the way. Tomorrow is another day.
I don't seem to be losing, right now. Indeed I'm up five pounds and I am not sure why... I am tracking, though.

Hi, Sue. Sorry you've been feeling 'punky.' It's been such a rough winter for everyone. Once you feel better I think you'll have more energy and feel more like getting back to your gardening, etc.

I hope you're soon feeling better Sue, it's horrible when your sort of off it but don't know why. Hope the ear infection clears soon.
I've just spent the morning with my grand children, they're so gorgeous and they certainly know how to make me feel good!
Take care emoticon emoticon

Hope you feel better soon. What type of plants did you buy, or going to buy? DH is getting our garden ready now, and hopes to buy some plants next week. He is expanding the garden this year. We had a Hummingbird that came to the feeder in our backyard daily, until we had the storm. I haven't seen it since. There is another female Hummer that I have seen a couple of times, but it is real shy. I think Henley the Hound scares the poor little thing when he bays. emoticon
Have a fun week-end!!

Patience. These things do not happen overnight.

Hope you feel better soon... and when you're not feeling well, exercise is the LAST thing you want... move gently! emoticon Drink that water. Chicken soup?

Checking in...

I'm tracking, again... but this time is a bit different.
They switched surgeons on me, thankfully. This new one is very up front and blunt and I appreciate that. Still no pre-ops so I decided to try the post op diet without the surgery until I get it. Today was day one.
Of course it's quite similar to what I eat when the gastritis is really bad, so this puree and shake thing is not unfamiliar to me.
So far I've lost 50 lbs since last May, mostly on Paleo. Hit this plateau a few pounds ago and just could not seem to budge it, but a couple of weeks ago started losing a bit, again, so maybe I will do ok on this, after all.
We'll see.
I did join an accountability group for people who have had weight loss surgery, and I've learned a whole lot. It's a fantastic group!

Hi Sue, lovely to hear from you again.
I glad everything is working out for you and hope the pre-ops come to fruition.

I joined a Slimming World group and have begun losing steadily again, the group concept really works.

Have a great week-end emoticon

Turned down tacos. Yay, me! Even though yeah the corn makes me sick. I miss tacos.

Need to figure out how to make "nutrition notes" for other things than GERD. I do have those, but I would like to have something generalized or for tracking food allergies. I tried to start a note thing on my kindle on a different diet program and it just won't save things properly. I should delete that and get something else.

Kept to my trackers today.

Knee was better for long enough to work in the garden, plant a few things for greens for the chickens, cover half the raised bed, remove some dead plants, and clean up the chicken messes, scrub the walk, and take care of their food and water, etc. That's the best it's been all week. Just threw it out again walking across a bare floor. How does that happen? I'm tired of it.

Still need to figure out where the granddaughter put my resistance bands.

Good for you, I miss a drinking chocolate emoticon

Sorry about your knee, hope it's soon feeling better.
I've been doing the exercises the hospital gave me for my knee and it's inflamed my shin muscle. It's quite painful so I've to rest and ice it and take painkillers.
The doctor calls it a shin splint and it's more usual with runners...I've only been laid on the bed doing my emoticon

I feel your pain- my back has been out this week- nasty spasms have me doubled over and pretty limited in what I can do. Grrrr....I have THINGS TO DO! lol

Feel better soon and keep up the good work with your eating plan!

Another day...

Wednesday, December 11, 2013

Finally, all three chickens are laying. You can't see the green cast to the Arucana eggs very well, but these are the first ones we've had. Odd they both started laying the very first time at the same time!

Plus one gratuitous photo of two sleeping cats, learning to tolerate each other. Barely... hahaha! We've come a LONG way with Paws. He still has huge issues with getting along with anyone, but he's trying hard.

I've joined an accountability group associated with WLS, and it involves a lot of journaling.
I'm still using SP tools! They beat anything else I can get free online. I tried a couple of others, but this is the best!
I've tried to use the android app with my kindle. I got the download ok but can't seem to use my recipes or my personal favorites for the diet, so have to come online to do food and such. Kind of a waste of time to get the app if I can't customize it.
Still probably not going to be participating in groups, much. I just don't have the time.
Hope that everyone is having a great holiday season! emoticon

I would love to have a few chickens. I am not sure if city ordinance would allow it. Plus if I get sick or down again, I don't think it would be fair to hubbie to take care of something else. He isn't a farmboy. I am however a farmgirl. Grew up on one from age 5 until my teens.

Your kitties are so cute. Cats do have their ways, don't they. I use to have cats. At one time I had 10, all housebroken. I couldn't turn down a stray, not even a pregnant one. I haven't had a cat in years. My dogs didn't get along. Chaos hates cats. They are so much fun and very entertaining aren't they?

I agree with Sparkpeople being the best. I need to concentrate on the most purposeful thing, though. I spend so much time on everything, that I don't have time for anything else. I think picking and choosing what is the most helpful and that works for me is what I need to do. I have been feeling overwhelmed for some time now. I started slacking in some important things. It is so easy to fall off the wagon when slackness starts setting in.

I want to start concentrating on just doing my meals on the nutritional tracker, exercise and track that. I do want to keep up with my support with the community, though. Just pick and choose that carefully, too. I wish us both the ability to do the most important helpful things to make us successful. We can do it. emoticon

One of the things I like best about Spark is you can use exactly as much of it as is useful to you! Happy Holidays to you, too! emoticon

A quiet holiday...

Thursday, November 28, 2013

Ron's daughter's mother in law's mother is dying, and Ronnie spent half the day with her and her husband, just visiting and chatting. They're lovely people. It was kind of him. I missed him but he has to work anyway, tonight, and so he would have been sleeping.

I stayed home to cook, instead, and stay with Raud. I put a small turkey in, and baked it slowly. I was missing the stuffing, yesterday. Then I got an idea... I made my usual paleo muffin recipe without the blueberries or sweetness, and added sautéed onions and celery, parsley and sage, some pepper and salt, and put it in the muffin tins to bake. They came out smelling wonderful, and tasting very stuffing-y, with the turkey gravy I made from chia seeds and almond flour. Delicious! Ronnie and Raud even had seconds!

My son called from St. John's, which was awesome! I didn't get to speak with him directly because of my hearing loss, but oh it was lovely to have him on the other end of the line and know that he is doing all right! What a wonderful place to be! He's getting a lot of great experiences that I don't think he could get anywhere else, and I'm so glad that he has this opportunity. I miss him, though.

I decided that, if he stays, I'm going to visit when I lose my first 100 lbs. 60 to go!

That stuffing sounds lovely Sue, what a creative person you are.

So sorry to hear about the illness, Ron sounds like a very special person.
And I'm so glad you got a call from your son, I know how much you miss him. He's given you a great incentive to lose more weight, I hope you reach your goal and can get off on that visit. emoticon

Take care emoticon
