January Weight Loss Goal met....Now on to February

Monday, February 01, 2010

I am so excited and happy to report that my goal of loosing 1# per week during January has been met! emoticon I started January out at 190 (my highest weight ever) and am happy to report a loss of 5#'s this month or down to 185. Now on to setting new goals for the month of February.

February Goals -

1.) Continue to loose at least 1# per week making my final weight loss goal in 30 weeks.

2.) Exercise at least 20 minutes a day & more on days I don't work.

3.) Walk & ride the bike for a total of 365 miles this year.

So those are my short term and long term goals. Nothing over the top and I am not setting myself up for failure. It seems like a win win situation and I am moving forward with this plan.

Hope everyone else is setting short term and long term goals. Meeting short term goals helps me move toward the long term goals,

Thanks everyone for your support and encouragement.

Hugs, Sunny

Update on Zach - Still Going Strong....

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Zach with his Service Dog, Adair

Update for Zach

Still going strong...
Posted Jan 15, 2010 1:55pm

Well he has had up days and down days but still looks better than anyone could have imagined he would. We are still working on some of his other issues like his sugars and bone and kidneys. His K level has been way to high 6.6 and they are doing what they can do get this under control. He has started some very mild P.T. just getting out of bed takes 3 of us to help him.
It has been a hard last two days in the transplant unit a family lost their daughter after a long struggle and it breaks your heart to see it happen while you have been given a second chance. Please pray for this family.

I have to tell you all that Zachs angel Katie is what brought him this liver . The day they knew Zach was going to get a liver Terri had come to visit and had hung a picture of Katie over Zachs bed and we know that Katie Matt and Tariq have always looked out for our boy but Katie really brought this one home for us. Thank you our dear little Katie!
Thank you too for all the offers of help for Ty and Tori it really takes alot of stress off knowing so many of you are out there to help.
FYI 92,000 people are right now are awaiting some sort of organ transplant and there are only around 6000 donors currently available yearly, looking at those odds I'd say Zach has finally won the good lottery!!

I don't think I need to add anything to this other than say this little guy certainly needed this break. Just an FYI - Katie and Traiq are friends of Zach's who lost their battle with
Leukemia. God Bless them all.

Hugs, Sunny

I have another very special friend at sparks with a nephew who had a liver transplant. They are currently living in an apartment connected to the hospital. I have prayed for Preston faithfully for over a year and so many others on spark are doing the same. He still has probems but continues to do very well. These are truly God's very special children. I will add Zach to my prayer list too--right beside Preston. May God bless him and your family!!

Hugs, Mona

Ever have one of those weeks?

Monday, January 18, 2010

Did you ever have one of those weeks that you just hoped you were dreaming and that you eventually wake up and everything would be OK? Well, I had one of those weeks last week but unfortunately I wasn't dreaming. It was real and it was a nightmare. Family problems can really put a person into a tailspin, can't they?

The most wonderful thing was that I had a tremendous amount of support from my Friends and from DH. He is such a jewel! I don't know what I would have done without him.

The good thing that came out of it was that I continued to exercise - figured it was good for the stress and actually only had one day of stress eating so all in all, I am learning to handle stress a little better.

I was a little moody to say the least and it wasn't like me at all.

Feeling better this week although the family situation has not been resolved but I have managed to let go of what I can not control and focus on what I can control and that is my attitude about what is going on. I do believe that Attitude is Everything and effects how we see and react to things going on around us.

The one thing I do know is that I needed the time to get my thoughts together, to rest and eventually time to regroup. I am feeling stronger and more confident that no matter what the outcome, I will be OK. I know that God does have a plan, I just wish he would let me in on it.

Take care and keep working hard. I love you all and appreciate the support and encouragement I received last week.

Hugs, Sunny

Still on target with my weight loss - no longer want to be a heavy weight.

Loved the photos, so cute and brought a smile to my face. Unfortunately I too have those nasty days and you are right, the origin for me is usually my DD. She's a teen going on 50. And you are right, exercise is a great stress buster. Have a good week. emoticon

THE_SILVER_OWL 1/19/2010 11:40PM

    Hi Sunny,

Sure sorry to hear that things have been turned upside down recently with family problems. What a wonderful attitude and just good old fashioned common sense you are expressing in your blog. I am so glad that you have such a supportive hubby. And you may not know what God's plan is at the moment, but I have confidence that at the right time it will all become quite clear.

Oh, wanted to ask how Zach is doing. Just FYI, after your info about Chemo Angels, I signed up to be a Senior Angel. I have been approved and am now awaiting my first assignment. I am so excited that you pointed me in that direction. Many thanks!

Sending you big hugs and hoping things resolve for your family soon. ~JJ~

It sounds like you are doing the best you can with your situation. It is a difficult thing to remember that we can only control ourselves and our reaction. Keep the faith and take care, my friend. emoticon emoticon

Still need to strive for better

Leaving me feeling like a slug
I too appreciate your honesty!
ESTELL32 1/19/2010 11:39AM

    Sunny,
Thanks for sharing with honesty and integrity! the lord has also showed me in the situation I am also in that It is my attitude , my prayers that I am responsible for...and to let Him be God and to work it out in His way, In His plan and for His glory!!!! so when every i get stressed I am exercising and praying or singing praise songs. i also have the Christian radio on all day and scriptures hanging all over to remind myself of God's promises and power!!!

TAMTAM7 1/19/2010 8:51AM

I know exactly what you mean. I've been having "one of those weeks" for about two weeks now. I keep telling myself that things can turn around as quick as they turned bad. The pictures in your post made me laugh though.
ALOHAEV1 1/19/2010 7:46AM

Your cat says it all sticking his tongue out at the world, I just know he was giving it all the Bronx cheer.
FLORIDASUN 1/19/2010 7:33AM

Hi sweet Sunny girl! Hey we all have those weeks. I'm so happy that you have just let go of this. We want so much for things to be wonderful for everyone and it hurts when they aren't. I have been up the mountain, around the mountain, inside all the caves ON the mountain, and finally decided I no longer like the hike. This has been with my daughter from my first marriage who is now gasp...40 years old. She has decided to take the hard roads in life and after sooooo sooooo long in trying to pull her onto the right roads I finally have stepped back...sadly after such a long long time it becomes the law of self survival. I still love her to pieces and I still pray for her happiness...but as I said...I've detached...I had to. I'm still so horribly confused that her brother even ever TOUCHED drugs when he saw the destruction that they caused his half sister and the turmoil they brought to our family. His dad and I think long and hard before we even take an aspirin...I guess some things we will just never know...hugs to you sweet friend...remember I'm always here for you..but then you know that of course! Happy Tuesday dear one..things will get better...just remember everyone chooses their own path in this life..sometimes we never understand why..but it has to have an ultimate reason...I'm thinking maybe karma? emoticon emoticon emoticon
