A New Goal

I am going to be working on several new things healthwise. I have high blood pressure, pre-diabetes and high triglycerides all of which can be controlled with a healthy diet. I am going to focus on these areas as well as my weight loss.

Today is the beginning of a new day for me. I have finally reached the point that I realize that I am not going to lose my weight like I used to when I was young. So I am going to accept each day as the one that I have to incorporate healthy eating and exercise in and I will focus only on today. Let tomorrow take care of itself. I feel better than I have in a long time because I am eating and exercising right whether I lose weight or not. If I do lose that will be a big reward for all of my efforts, but if I do not I will still be healthy!

My short term goals at this time are to remain on track with my eating and exercising.
T0 stay focused on what I am doing. To lose at least 8 pounds in August.

To lose 24 lbs. in the next 3 months.

To get into the 100's.

Long term goal is to lose to my goal weight of 145. When I get there I will reevaluate whether I need to go further or stop there.

My biggest goal is to remain healthy and not have another stroke even a small one like I had in 2008. I plan to be around at least to my 90's and see at least one of my great great grandchildren.

Drink Your Water Every Day

I was never a water drinker, but now I drink 4 20 oz. bottles of water every day. I still am able to enjoy decaf unsweetened coffee and green tea, v8 juice and milk as well.

Drinking water not only does all that the coaches tell us it does, it also helps me to flush the excess fluids out of my system that cause me to swell up even though my Dr. has me on fluid pills.

Come on and join me. If I can do it so can all of you!

Stop the Excuses Not to Exercise

I believe that I am probably the professional excuse maker to get out of exercise that I have ever met. But I want to tell you that has not held me back!

I am 69 years old and I am proud to say that I exercise 6 days a week. I take Sunday off, but I still manage to get in 20 min. of walking that day.

I try to switch up my routine to keep it interesting. Most days I use Leslie Sansone walking videos/dvds for my main option along with my Spark People dvds. I just started doing 40 push ups every other day. And I switch around on my treadmill, exercise bike, cardioglyder and my gazelle. I also walk outside when it is not hot and humid. My asthma kicks up if it's humid. I do cardio/strength training and stretching exercises.

One of my best excuses is "But my fibromyalgia, arthritis, etc. is hurting. When that happens I pull out my less strenuous exercises and workout anyway. I find that when I do that I am not in near as much pain. Amazing???

Let's put away our excuses and get moving!!!
