Lucky You?!?!

Wednesday, September 04, 2013

I received a comment on my recent blog post "Size 3L Levi's Skinny Jeans!". The member wrote:

Great! Lucky you."

I removed her name and blog post response and responded to her via email. However I wanted to let EVERYONE who reads my blogs know that LUCK has nothing to do with it. Luck is meant for leprechauns and people who go to casinos. emoticon

I stayed on my DIY Medifast Plan for more than 19 weeks. Never cheated and always stayed diligent. It took sacrifice and hard work to get into the best shape of my life. So be more conscious of what half-hearted response / semi double sided compliments you post on peoples blogs.

I had somebody tell me I was lucky to be an alcoholic (instead of an over eater) because I had AA. WOW! I just politely responded that there is OA & I don't participate in AA. I Worked very hard on overcoming so I can be who I am. I'm sorry somebody said something so rude to you. I consider you fortunate because you know who you wanted to be & WORK at becoming her!
Stay Blessed!

You have done a FANTASTIC job!! This is not an easy plan to follow, and with all the food floating around, it would be SO EASY to fall off program and go back to old habits. Pat yourself on the back and relish the wonderful feeling of knowing that YOU DID IT.

Side Rant:

It is very easy to be jealous of people who are losing weight when you are not. I know it, because I've been there - a few years back, a woman I knew lost a lot of weight and I was insanely jealous of her progress. I congratulated her, but inside I was crazy jealous and was like, "Why her and not me?!"

(Me Now responding to Me Then: "Well, maybe if you bothered to monitor your food intake and exercise regularly, you WOULD have lost weight!!")

Now that I've lost weight, I've met people who congratulate me, but I can tell inside they are jealous of my weight loss. I feel incredibly bad now for my previous feelings of jealousy.

Fact is: I'm sure a lot of us would love to lose weight (those elusive last 10 pounds), but we need to learn to be happy for other people and not bring our negativity into THEIR success.

(Sorry for rant...)

Size 3L Levi's Skinny Jeans!

Monday, September 02, 2013

Today I went to Macy's labor day sale. Complete madness. I initially had gone to try on dresses for an upcoming wedding and ended up with a pile of skinny jeans in the fitting room. I've never worn any before. After much struggle I managed to hike then up over my thighs and to my surprise the waist fit was perfect! I felt so great! Here's to dedication and skinny jeans!

I feel that I have reached my goal with weight. Now it is time to enter the transition phase. I'm going to add 100 calories this week and more strength training exercises. I want a leaner and toned body now. So bring on the weights and extra veggies!

Surgery and Weight Loss

Saturday, August 17, 2013

Last week on August 7th, 2013 I had elective surgery (had a small mass in my breast). I won't get into details but it definitely took my body into a tail spin. Having extra IV fluids, medications, sedation, among other things really throw the human body out of wack. Bloating and water retention is expected 1 -2 weeks post surgery, so weighing myself is not an option.

Post Surgery
Day 1: I drank plenty of fluids but under-ate due to my meds. emoticon
Days 2,3,4,5, 6: OP/Ate small, just getting back in the groove of eating. emoticon
Day 5: Overate by 300k= 1250 calories. Needed xtra nutrition and to mess with my metabolism (cottage cheese). emoticon

It's now 3 days into week 16 of my DIY Medifast and I am OP and feel good. I get off all my pain medication by Tuesday thank goodness. After I will do a cleanse and hopefully drop these last 4lbs!

The Size 4's are back! And they are loose!

Friday, July 26, 2013

One of the major goals I had when starting this program was to be able to fit in my old size 4's again.

I had a job interview yesterday afternoon and I was rummaging through my closet trying to find the most respectable "I'm trustworthy, so...hire me" outfit. At this point in my weight loss journey I haven't had to wear dress pants, my lifestyle is very relaxed = leggings and sweatpants. I knew that my size 8's and 10's were way to big now just from the look of them.

I looked up at the stock pile of size 2/4 dress pants and jeans I had shifted to the far left of my closet and decided to give it the old college try. I pulled out my dusty pair of grey "Express" size 4 low ride dress pants and said a small prayer. One leg then the other...the slow pull up past the thighs, over the hips, and the dreaded pull and button...

They fit! They F'N fit!!!
Not only did they fit they were loose around my waist and butt area! Say what?!

Following this major hurdle, I proceeded to dig through my tighter fitting dress shirts and they fit just the same as they did 2 years ago, if not better! I smelt like moth balls but I felt like a million bucks! I'm so happy this morning and it only motivates me to continue this healthy lifestyle till the end of my days.

The Model Below is very similar to my frame right now. :-)

SO happy for you! That's awesome!!! Must confess to being very jealous. Even at my thinnest (hip bones protruding) I have NEVER been able to fit into a size 4. I am what you would call "thick" LOL
Hope the interview went well. Your dedication is what that company needs:)

The Cake Boss! ...Uh Oh

Saturday, July 13, 2013

Me and my fiancé are driving up to his mother's house today after a long overdue visit. One of the last things she mentioned during a recent telephone conversation was that she wanted to go visit the famous "Cake Boss" (Carlo's Bake Shop) in Hoboken, NJ. She loves what he does for his community, his great and positive attitude, and of course...his cakes!

Fiancé’s mission: Surprise his mother and take her to visit Carlos's Bakery and buy her delicious goodies.
My mission: Stay OP and resist temptation up the (excuse my language) Mother F'er!

This weekend has another surprise. We are taking a trip to Long Island NY as well to visit his father who will be having a cookout in our honor. His father is Puerto Rican; his father's wife is Italian (Big & heavy set woman) as I was told; who enjoys taking care of her family. So my imagination is running wild with the possibile food madness that could transpire.

I know what horrible oppositions are in front of me on the playing field today and tomorrow but I will to enter the game geared up and ready to go. I have my shakes, pre-made protein bars, TONS of water and drink mix, and packs of veggies. As preventative measures, my key phrases will be:

1. I am diabetic! I can't even taste that, sorry. *excuse me for those who are*
2. I just ate, I'm so stuffed I couldn't eat anymore.
3. I'm allergic to things that make me look like I did 20 lbs. ago!

For those who don't watch TV or know about him, Carlo's is a famous family owned Bake Shop that makes the best tasting, highest quality wedding cakes, along with other specialty goods in New Jersey. They have their own television reality TV show on TLC called "Cake Boss".

Ahhhhh, sounds like a wonderful weekend filled with love. It also sounds like one that will be tough with temptation. I have a couple friends who come from large Italian families and I hear often that food = love:) I think that is more true for older generations though. The one friend's wedding ran a good 50k with the majority of it on food alone! I say you are honest and say you have worked really hard to get where you are and breaking might just put you in a tail spin. LOL Another thing is you might hear....ah, you need to fatten up....too skinny. Either way remember it all comes from a place of love. Have a great time!!!

OMG, when we were in NYC last summer, I kept trying to get DH to take me to Carlos' Bakery - just to see and sample the place! I love that show and the crazy cakes Buddy and crew make!

We never made it, but one of these years...
