Nothing wrong with my ears or eustchian tubes, but....

Tuesday, September 09, 2014

I am having pain from severe TMJ disorder. I have never had such severe pain from this before.

I was referred for TMJ therapy and I hope to get some relief from the pain. The pain from the jaw is referred to my ears, sinuses and other places. The doctor said my degenerative arthritic neck is also related to some of the pain in my ears and generalized head pain.

One good piece of news is that I can go swimming again as I don't have ear problems.

Ate out yesterday for DH's birthday...

Monday, September 01, 2014

He is 79 now and is quite upset that he is "no good," and "older than dirt."

He behaved pretty well at the restaurant aside from spitting on the floor once.

He got the all you can eat ribs and he only could eat one serving, so the waiter gave him a second helping to take home. So I gave a generous tip for his superior service.

I wore an ear plug in my right ear so the noise in the restaurant wouldn't be too uncomfortable. My left ear also is affected with the Eustachian tube dysfunction but not nearly as bad. I have to remember both ear plugs and headphones for work tomorrow.

Today I have to clean up the living room and kitchen as they are embarrassingly cluttered. (No pictures, please.)

Hope the doctor can figure out what brought this on.

A name for eustachian tube dysfunction..PET

Saturday, August 30, 2014

I may have patulous Eustachian tube disorder which leaves the tubes open intermittently. One side effect is extreme discomfort with noises, including my own voice. It sounds so loud and echoes in my ears.

My choice of self treatment of this was wearing ear muffs (ear phones) at work which worked great on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, I forgot the headphones at home.

Today I am having fairly severe ear and jaw pain and am trying to stay home today. Was invited on an outing to the Minnesota Zoo today but couldn't go I also cancelled playing the piano at the nursing home today.

I hope getting my allergy symptoms under control helps with the ear symptoms.

I saw my internist on Tuesday. The ear symptoms came on suddenly with exercise during physical therapy on Monday afternoon. I may have to cancel the resilience training as exercise is a large part of the program.

Can't swim until ear/eustachian tube dysfunction settles down..

Tuesday, August 26, 2014

I was planning to swim today but called the clinic to see if I need to avoid getting water in my ears. I heard what I didn't want to hear.

I am finding that using my cell phone is uncomfortable and talking is, too, so I am trying to be quiet. Hubby is taking a nap, but when he gets up and starts his usual loud talking, I am sure I will have a problem with that. He is deaf without hearing aids and he turns the t.v. up so loud I will have to leave the room as even without my ear problem I am having now I find it quite unnerving to listen to the volume of 50 when I actually can hear it quite well at 25 unless he starts talking. Guess I need to do something other than watching t.v. this evening.

I took today off from work today but will return to work tomorrow and might have to wear earphones to keep out loud noises.

I was wondering what exciting medical problems would come 'round the bend and here it is. I wish I didn't wonder that so loudly I think someone heard me. LOL

signed up for a $900 series of classes on Resiliance Training

Thursday, August 14, 2014

My insurance will cover except for $90 coinsurance (or co-payment). This program includes 2 hours of 1 on 1 dietician consult, 2 hours with an exercise coach and 10 hours of mindfulness training. I have not received all the info yet but it sounds like it may help me focus on what is important in my life and health.

Will report on progress.
