I only had 7 hours of PTO left this week so worked 5 hours in a.m. before my eye injection. Then next morning worked 4 hours and went home to rest. On Wednesday morning the day after eye injection I had a food accident. Cooked an egg under a piece of thin sliced ham in the microwave, put it on toast and bit in (without checking the egg first). The yolk was full of super hot steam and when I bit in a shot of that steam came out and burned my mouth, upper lip, gums and tongue. I now know I should not cook whole eggs nor rice (that's another story) in the microwave.
Despite my burns I have been able to eat, but I look like I have been beaten up (kinda feels like that, too). With the eye injection the entire white of the eye is red and painful and I believe the retinal specialist hit a blood vessel once again. Last time she did this it took almost four weeks to return to normal and then it was time for another shot. I get them every 4 weeks, so that was number 12 in less than a year.
So I have been wearing my dark tinted readers at work and almost every where this week.
P.S. I had good news from my daughter. She has an appetite again and is able to work, though slower than her usual pace. She is not 100% better but I could tell by her voice the viral meningitis is nearly gone. She lost 20 lb in 6 weeks due to lack of appetite and extreme weakness. (She didn't lose 20 lbs of fat cause she is so fit, so it was muscle weight she lost.) Sometimes carrying around a bit of fat is helpful when you have a serious illness.
Thanks for your prayers for her. I thank God she is doing so well.
P.S. It hurts when I smile.
