Snowy tulips !

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

A couple of days ago...it was 70 degrees..sunny ! Today...snow & ice ....oh the poor tulips & lillies! It seems like Mother Nature likes to play tricks on us. I have tried very hard to not allow myself to have my moods or plans be affected by the weather. In Ohio...The weather can be very fickle but I do admit ...I like the season changes...I like them all...but that being said...I'm afraid I may have to admit ...This crummy weather may be affecting me more than I would like to admit ! These last couple of weeks...I have been really struggling ... my moods...my frame of mind...my focus...I am blue ! I'm fighting with lots of jumbled thoughts in my head...my weight is going nowwhere...which is totally my fault for not focusing..planning...journaling...I know that...but then the guilt sets up...then I feel extra bad...I've got drs.check ups & tests coming up again..I get nervous & worried...life is changing...friends are coming & going... Some "friends" I have realized that maybe they weren't friends at all...believe me...I don't need " friends" like that in my life ! Overwhelmed ! I haven't blogged in awhile...I didn't want to share my grumpiness ...because that's not very nice of me to share that ! SO...I'm going to not share most of that...but I need to work on my mindset &set it straight...maybe the health &weight will get better too..I need to rethink things! I saw a quote today on twitter : it said" nobody is impressed with your excuses". As harsh as that may sound....it kind of hit home...it is true...excuses only hurt me & sadly as I realized today after an ugly event with friends today at a lunch date...my grumpiness has boiled over & it has changed me & maybe ...just maybe... my socialization skills are lacking & I never realize that when I don't think before I speak & use filters....it affects so many others too...well thanks for reading my blog..... I hope to sleep better tonight..& feel bright & chipper tomorrow.

I'm with Sweetney: Sometimes, you just need to rant. The weather was really dragging me down the Sunday it snowed, and I get moody with weather changes. It's also my TOM which does not help at all. Anyway, do something fun to recharge your batteries. I know it can be totally demoralizing when your weight doesn't budge or worse, when it increases. Hang in there. emoticon

Hey this is your blog and you should use it to express yourself. If you want to be grumpy than do so I was thinking about you. You'd suggested a dehydrator. I have onenow ffor 1week now and I have not opened it yet. Had to go read why I got it in the first place. I'm certainly exhausted. Nobody is perky all the time & nobody is grumpy all the time-we are human

It helps to write about it and get it all out there. It may be an excuse, but weather does affect your mood - especially this winter that never seems to end!! Start fresh tomorrow - I know it can be a good one for you!! emoticon emoticon Spring has to stay eventually.

A beautiful day !

Monday, March 31, 2014

Ahhhhh...... it was a beautiful day ! Almost all the snow has melted from the snowstorm on Saturday & today it was sunny & 61 degrees... the weather is very fickle in Ohio for sure.
I have to admit, I had myself in a grumbly mood, not sure why ... but I started binging ...yikes !!! But...I made myself get off my high horse... I did some quick housekeeping, went outside !! I cleaned out my flower beds & I walked outside for over an hour...taking in all the fresh air & wonderful spring sounds of crickets & birds . While walking though I had my tunes on & was dancing & walking at the same time I'm sure it looked ridiculous while walking down the road. That's ok, give the neighbors a chuckle ! emoticon
I have to say...I sure felt better after I stopped the eating frenzy ( which wasn't awful but could have been if I kept at it ! ) got outside, walked & did some constructive activities ! My mind & mood is in a much better place. I need to learn to stop the binging & grumpiness much earlier in the day before it damages the whole day !! I'll keep working at that !

Hope wherever you are that you got to enjoy a beautiful day too emoticon

That is great that you were able to turn things around. So proud of you. Yes maybe next time you can do it sooner but enjoy the fact you it. There is something about fresh air and outdoors. I am so glad spring is coming.

Impressive! You managed to stop a binge in its tracks. Your idea to change your attitude and get some activity going were so smart. If you can do it once, you can do it again. You go, girl!

    Way to do it. emoticon
We were in the 40's with sun. Our snow cover is almost gone. I also checked my garden beds. Still frozen.
If you have spring we will too at some point.
We had band snow in our area last night.
We only got a couple of inches, but some got over 6.
Preservingly yours from upstate NY

I survived family & the buffet ! :)

Sunday, March 30, 2014

Thank you for everyone's thoughts & suggestions about my knee & the treadmill issues. I really appreciate it . I will put them all to use. Maybe my body is rebelling from all the lifetime of abuse I have decided to put it through . The obesity may be taking it's toll & as much as I hate to admit it , maybe I am entering into the aches & pains that usually come along as we get older... I'm going to change up a few things & hopefully it will go away & as I keep staying on track & losing more weight & getting a new pair of shoes... it will all contribute to the health of my knees !

The evening with family, went ok. NO drama , which I was ever so grateful for. I handled the buffet just fine. If I am in the right mindset ,I can really work the buffets to my advantage ! Last night.... I tackled it ! I like the buffets when they have lots of salad options ... I really like to have all those choices of fresh veggies, because at home, I'm the only one who eats veggies, especially raw ones & I can never eat them fast enough, so it's usually wasteful to get a big variety of veggies . So I like to indulge in all those veggies at the restaurants !

I had a great day today too. I worked out for an hour, on the Wii & the bike & I ate well. I am pleased. Yay !

I'm on a good streak right now .... I want to keep moving forward !! I'm tired of starting over again for the umpteenth time !

Your choices sound just right. Having a buffet with a good salad bar sure does help, I agree. Your exercise sounds like it is on track as well. You're doing great!

A somewhat challenging day ahead...

Saturday, March 29, 2014

We are taking out family members to celebrate their retirement tonight. We are going to a buffet , which I can manage ok, but the real challenge is the family members...it can really stress me out!! We couldn't make the party so we offered to take them out for a one on one dinner instead, which is a much better scenario than the party, challenging none the less.So...This is my plan...I'm lacing up my kicks now...I'm going to have a great workout...which is good for my body & mind , I know most of the menu at the place we are eating...I'm going to enjoy the dinner out without being a pig & journal every bite & I'm going to keep in mind 5 positive things about the day ! 1.No cooking :) , although I do enjoy cooking 2.No clean up ! I'll need to work on 3 more ! I'm going to make this a good day !!

Question : I'm having trouble with my knee really bothering when I use the treadmill. Does anyone else have that problem? If so, any suggestions ? Walking doesn't bother it as long as I'm not on the treadmill..I walked 3 minutes on it yesterday & the irritation was immediate...so I stopped. Pretty soon the weather will be nice enough to walk outside almost everyday & I have a small gym in my home so I have other options but walking is my favorite . Thanks for any input :)

Have a lovely day !

Hope your night out was fabulous. I don't have a treadmill, but I do have a bad knee, and every once in awhile bad knees. I discovered that my knee issues were actually coming from tight hips flexor muscles. Who knew! Maybe you could try doing 10 minutes of yoga for hips (there's lots of videos on YouTube) before you use your treadmill and see if that helps at all.

I hope the dinner went well.A buffet is the hardest thing for me to deal with. My recent injuries have told me - if something makes you hurt - quit doing it. At least for awhile, until you figure out what is going on. After my metatarsal problem, I found that zero drop running shoes really helped take pressure off of my forefoot.. emoticon

I have knee problems. What I do is keep the incline at 0 an really stay mindful of the pain, so I adjust the speed and duration of my intervals. If my knees are really crying, I use the bike instead. My real weapon is ibuprofen before and after I work out. I usually do two if the pain is real bad or just do a daily ibuprofen until the pain goes away, but I'm no doctor. Consult yours. I think part of it for me is aging and my weight. I also make sure I stretch out my legs real good after I work out (sometimes at the beginning once my muscles are warmed up). I hope this helps. Good luck lady; don't let the pain block your progress.

Oh and good luck with the family! I have one of those too. emoticon

  Hi Tami,
Long time no write, but I have been thinking of you.

Anyway, for your question, I know friends who have decided to try swimming for a while to relieve their knees, and once the healing has taken place they can get back at it. Would riding a bicycle help for a while? It might take the pressure off your knee.

I got a Sparkpeople step tracker to get me motivated as about the time I wrote you last I quit doing Sparkpeople. The step tracker has gotten me motivated, so I hope to get back on track with you as well as Sparkpeople and exercise. I am supposed to get 6,000 steps a day and it took me some time to work up to that, but now I'm there and I'd like to get above that. So far I have nearly managed 10,000 steps for a few days, and I hope to be more consistent soon.
