I really want it to be just a personal issue, not including a doctor...

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

Okay. Need to figure out if I really can budge this middle or if I should be worrying about big health issues. Feel good, but not healthy great, if ykwim. This gut is worrying me, so time to seriously do something about it myself, if possible.

Started tracking food today, along with doing the Spring into Shape bootcamp. PLEASE feel free to join me in the swamp so I have company! ;) Time to get back into shape and feeling healthy and up for anything! emoticon

Staying awake during all day classes

Thursday, June 27, 2013

Okay, that's two in a row where I never got sleepy and could have listened a few more hours. Either they're that interesting, or a diet change helped. I didn't have candy or cookies at break time, just a healthy lunch and drank lots of water. 50/50 chance of either, huh? ;)

I'm thinking it was the diet, too. 'Cause those really do make me do a dive!
There's a good Japanese restaurant by the classes, so I've gone there for chicken curry over rice with a salad and tempura, one of their lunch specials. Perfect! Now I'm ready to fix tempura one of these days. Love one chunk of each vegetable dipped and fried yet still intact and tasty.

That is interesting. I think it's a better than 50% chance that it's the change in diet and avoidance of the sugary snacks. Those can really make your blood sugar bounce around and leave you sleepy when it dives. Keep posting your observations. I'm interested :)

Gorgeous Salad day!

Monday, June 24, 2013

Time to get tracking my food. So far so good. Trying to get more vegetable based around here. Decided to plan a new salad each week this summer to make sure there is a 'green' choice on all those grilling nights, instead of just baked beans, chips, and a macaroni or potato salad. I will plan ahead!

Last night I made a green salad with almonds, a few croutons, and dried cranberries. For lunch I added a few croutons, tomato and a little cheese with a Vidalia onion dressing.

Bought a kit at Sam's: Garden Vegetable Chopped Salad that I'll mix up tonight. Broccoli, cauliflower, red cabbage, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds, carrots and crumbled bacon with a slaw dressing. Sounds good to me!

Just wish we had more sunny days this month. Rainy and foggy makes me want to head for comfort foods instead of green ones.

I love eating salads but hate making them. I've learned to put together a big batch and keep it in a plastic container so I can just grab a handful and add to it. Sometimes it will be tuna or hard-boiled egg (or both), or leftover chicken or even taco meat. I don't know why I have such a mental block about making salads, though~

Great idea to plan ahead and have it available for those grilling nights!

I know what you mean! I put on my hoodie when I went for a walk yesterday. It was so grey and yucky looking, but I got outside and it was like 70 degrees. The grey makes me want comfort foods but it's warm out. But anyway, I think you're doing great! Planning ahead really helps.

One week of walking under my belt!

Tuesday, May 28, 2013

Feels good! Now to add another piece. Time to add the water. I've been drinking, but not enough. Finally found a green tea that I love--Tazo green tea with lemongrass and spearmint. Need to get counting my cups/glasses again.

And need to work on portion control. Much as I don't want to, better get tracking my food and set a weekly weigh in day. I really want to feel comfortable in summer clothes, so better bite the bullet!

At it once again

Saturday, May 25, 2013

Well, I've gotten back into walking. I know that's the key for me getting back with the program. I've gone out four days in a row. The first day I took a 15 minute walk while waiting for dd to finish her soccer practice. The second day my neighbor stopped by and agreed to walk with me. Third day was with two neighbors. This morning, I assumed they'd gone out without me, so took off on my own to catch them. Ended up on a long fast walk alone. Got back and net up with neighbors; turns out we'd all gone on solo walks. We took another walk together. :)

I'm moving again! And it needs to become a habit. My big gut and this extra weight are unbearable. I can't stay this way for summer. I won't!

I find it difficult to just walk the neighborhood by myself. I need inspiration too. I want to start walking some trails..not deep woods trails, rather some off road paths so to speak, but I don't know how to keep it interesting.
My food is something I can keep interesting but for some reason the walks - not so much. I try to notice things as I walk, such as notice something different or something that has changed from day to day. You are so fortunate to have walking buddies. I'm glad that you do!
I agree too that WALKING is KEY!
Thanks for sharing!
