Keeps getting better

Thursday, March 25, 2010

I haven't felt this good in a long time. My Chiropractor had me in positions this morning I never thought possible. When I left, I could actually walk upright. I'm still bummed about not being able to exercise the way I would like but, I never want to feel the pain again so, I'm taking his advice and not doing cardio for another week. He did give me the green light on light stretching so, that is what I'm going to do. Easing back into everything. I don't want to UNDO what had already been DONE to relieve my pain. Can't wait to see how good exercise feels.

No workout

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

So, I went to my Chiropractor yesterday, and to make a long story short, no exercise of any kind for 2 weeks. Apparently my body is so out of wack, it'll take him that long to get it back to somewhat normal, whatever that is at this point. No wonder why I was hurting. I chalked it up to really pushing myself at the gym.

So, I really need to watch what I eat for the next 2 weeks. This will be my challenge to myself. I can do it. My body will be screaming for some cardio and weight training after it gets fixed.

Best to listen to your doctor! Ask them about some gentle stretching. You burn a bunch of calories but you'll still reap benefits and feel "productive" emoticon

Really good day

Monday, March 15, 2010

Wow! This time change is really kicken my backside. No matter how early I go to bed, I still feel like I haven't slept. I think its psychological. I tell myself that I'm never going to get used to the time change. Usually, by November, I have it down but, it changes again. Oh Well!

Spent 2 hours at the gym doing cardio and weight training. I'm still loving the elliptical and have increased by time 5 minutes each week. I'm now up to 40 minutes. It's a good feeling. I also started doing weight training. Just starting so going slow. I treated myself to a tan afterwards. So relaxing. I think I fell asleep. Hopefully, I can keep this up. I think when I start seeing the results it will get easier.

I have been waiting for years to wake up feeling energetic. emoticon Oh, well! Have a weight bench here at the house which has been collecting dust, but started using it again last night, even though it was only for 15 minutes. Surprised I'm not sore this arms were shaking lifting the barbell! Strength training is important to the weight loss process so it has to be done, and, like you, I'm doing it slow but sure! emoticon

Baby-step daily goals

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Maybe I'm setting my standards to low, I don't know, but my daily goal is to get to the gym everyday for at least 30 minutes. So far, I'm doing pretty well. I need to adjust my time accordingly though. Sometimes I don't have an extra 30 minutes. When that happens, I may run up and down the stairs at work 2 or 3 times a day. I work on the 3rd floor of our building. I'm finding that this is also a great workout and, I do this even if I can get to the gym.

I haven't lost a lot of weight so far but, I'm finding that my clothes fit me differently and that is a good feeling.

I think those are great standards - I used to stay on the treadmill and elliptical for only 15-20 minutes at the begining then naturally started staying longer - and if your clothes fit better its working! emoticon

One week back in

Sunday, March 07, 2010

It has been one week since I returned to SparkPeople. I knew I loved it a year ago. Life got in my way and the one thing that I should have put first was now last on my to-do list. All the hard work that I had done back then crept back on, leaving me with a weight gain of 15 pounds. I knew Sparks works because it worked for me the first time. I needed to make a change so, I came back and I'm glad I did.

In just a weeks time, I've gotten the feeling back that I did a year ago. I joined a gym a couple months ago and would use it once-in-awhile. Now, I try to get there at least 4 days a week. Yesterday, I challenged myself on the elliptical and I actually love it. I can't wait to get back there on that machine. I'm so proud of myself for 2 things. 1-getting back to the healthy lifestyle that I crave and 2-challenging myself and winning. Those are great feelings.

I think you hit it exactly! Not only is it a healthier life style but you feel better about yourself for doing it. An additional benefit is that when youget to the gym on a regular basis there are so many things about your health that improve, even if you don't notice them (heart rate, blood pressure, muscle tone, etc.) Keep it up!!
