LONG WAY TO GO

Tuesday, January 03, 2012

I just got off of the treadmill for the first time in a while and I want to throw up. I was only on for 11 minutes (alternating between jogging and walking). It was hard but I am determined to keep it up.

I am glad to see you're back and I want you to know that I am here for you!!! The best thing is that you don't give up trying. Like the others said, you have the tools to do what you need to do. Don't beat up on yourself over what is now in the past.

Just goes to show, ''when we get lax, the pounds creep right back up." AS TellingGrey has said, you have the tools to fix this.
Hang in there.

I Need Motivation to Exercise

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

Working out became a habit of mine a few months ago. I enjoyed it! I didn't think about going, I just went. Now, with all of the changes in my work schedule I can't get a routine together. Now I am started a new job and I am trying so hard to figure out when I am going to get my butt to the gym.

I worked midnights for so long, that my body isn't on a schedule yet (I just started day shift yesterday after working midnights for almost 13 years.) I am thinking that I am going to go to the gym after my daughter goes to bed at 8pm or it might be better to go right after work.

I don't know but I am ready to get out of this rut and stop working out haphazardly.

give yourself some slack... when you make it a priority, and the rest of your schedule gets regulated, I'm sure you will get back to your habit!

What time do you start work in the morning? Just wondering if there's any way you can get up a bit earlier and work out? Or go as soon as you get off work like the others suggested.
You're having to adjust to a major change in your schedule and it will take a little time before you can get it all worked out, but I know you'll figure it out.

OH SO YOU'RE A DAYSHIFTER NOW, HUH...don't know if I like that...lol. J/K. Take a little time and see how your new schedule goes. With me starting school again, I was kind of confused when I should exercise also. But, after about a week I was like oh ok! I have time here and here and just picked. I do agree about going right after work, don't give your body too much time to relax.

you gotta get it started! one tiny step at a time, gonnalose is right. you gotta set yourself up to suceed. if you exercise early when your energy is highest, fatigue wont be an excuse. i work out twice a day, once in the morn and once at nite. i started by making a sheet on the wall by my computer and this little memo pad had exactly 21 lines on it. everyday i worked out i would write ithe date down with a happy face next to it. my goal was to try to get 21 consecutive days to fill the page completely. (i'm looking at it right now cause i never took it down, it still motivates me even tho it's more than 2 months old) when i first started, i worked out every day for 4 days,( emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon) then i skipped 5 days(summers birthday preperations)then i was back on for 9days,( emoticonx 9)then i was off for 2 days(thanksgiving)and then i hit my stride at that point i realized that i was coming back to my workouts even when i missed one, and that missing a workout was like missing an important appointment. by the time i had (wait a sec, let me count'em) 15 days on the sheet(even with all the skip days) i felt obligated to work out!!! and after i had filled up 2 sheets i didnt need to write it any more! now i work out twice a day no matter what! try it. maybe it'll work for you ! emoticon

I would the one right after work, because your body is going through a change right now, if you wait until 8 pm you might not get it done, because you have already been home, relaxed and ready to call it day, so try going right after work, pack your bag and carry it with you in the car.
Let me know how it works out!

Congratulations on your progress. I'm glad your blood pressure was down yesterday. I have to tell you that after 2 months of regular exercise, I was able to drop one of my blood pressure meds. The doctor says is if I keep at it (healthier eating and exercie) I will probably be able to get rid of the other pill. So best of luck. Glad you had a good day and thanks for the video blog.

Kibbles is so cute! I find it very commendable that you're trying to fix the HTN and BS through diet and exercise and get off the pills. 18 lbs in a month and a half (pretty much) is freaking awesome. Start sounding more excited about it, lol. I'm sorry to hear about your father, he's a lucky man to have two personal nurses. I'm also a nurse, that in itself is enough cause for stress. So much so, if I don't get a proper control on the stress I think I'll be picking a different career path. Anyways, you're doing awesome. Keep on trucking through the rough parts of life and your rewards will come. (You're already getting lower BP!)

This Is It!!!!!! No More Midnight Shifts!!!!

Friday, January 21, 2011

Tonight is my last night on a full-time midnight shift!!!! I have been working midnights for about 12-13 years and now it is over! I cannot wait to sleep in my bed at night. To take my kids to school each day and be alert when they get home is going to be great.

I think I am going to buy new pajamas and pillows to celebrate my sleeping at home at night and developing better sleep habits!!!!!!! emoticon emoticon
