Friday

Friday, April 18, 2014

Fridays seem like they are always busy for me. I usually change my bed linens on this day and do laundry.. I do laundry about twice a week but today's laundry with the bed linens always seems to be more. Drove into town this morning and went to the local plant nursery. Hubby got fertilizer and I bought lots of annuals to go in my planters in front of the house. Went out to the DIL's and got some eggs and then to grocery store. Making veggie and fruit trays for Sunday's potluck at church. Also making a Strawberry Delight...layered angelfood cake with strawberries and cream cheese-cool whip mix. Two of the DILs and their girls are coming out tomorrow so am getting things prepared for them as well. We finally pulled up the rosemary tree that died this winter and replanted 2 new ones and got some grass removing done in the raised bed as well. Hubby has gone fishing and I'm looking at what I can draw on a new rug.

Hope everyone has a very blest Easter. Don't eat too much.

A lazy Thursday

Thursday, April 17, 2014

Got up this morning and was going to do my sparking here first thing and first thing turning on my computer had it to crash. I recovered it ok but while it was reformulating I cut some woolie worms for my rug hooking at another time. I like keeping them on hand already cut so when I get ready to hook a rug, I have them ready to go. Then one of my DILs called me and was having problems with some graphic work. Something to do with the granddaughter's graduation invitations..so she and the DGD will be by here around 4 for me to help them with it. Glad to know I can be of help sometimes.

We got all our plants out of the plant house and moved them to the gazebo. Then we planted the tomato and pepper plants in the garden. Also planted the succulents in some of the planters out front. I also removed some very rusted metal butterflies I had on one of my clematis trellis. So it has been busy but lazy. Off now to draw up a rug.

Fruit trees and rug

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

Well between 2 morning freezes we think we lost all our plum and peaches. But that is ok. Like I said yesterday, we still have left overs in our freezer and pantry and less work for us this summer.

Today we did our monthly mad dash to Hot Springs for our shopping at Walmarts and Sam's. Hubby had to get some iron rods to fix our wood grill and so we took a tour of the town. We drove some roads behind the horse race track. Place we had never been before. Got some good walking in while there as well. I looked for the round plastic or metal curtain rings. (think cafe rings) and couldn't find any at Walmarts. Didn't have time to go to Hancocks fabrics or Hobby Lobby and look. But did stop at local hardware store and got metal washers. I stitch these to the back of my rugs for hangers.

I also finished my rug last night....even the blocking. So after I stitch the rings to the back and a fabric label to the back it will be ready to go with my DIL to their fundraiser auction. So here it is...the 2nd in the series of Children's books...

Too bad about the plums and peaches. Sorry to hear that. This weather this year is crazy!
Love the rug, that was one of our favorite books when my daughters were young. I know that story well. Hope it raises lots of money at the fundraiser!

Have no fear!!!

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

I love reading what people comment to my blogs. Yesterday was really interesting. I've not been one to be fearful of much of anything. I can't say I was always that way as when I was a child I feared the monster under my bed. But that was a child's fear. I love taking walks around our property at night and don't take a flash light either. Just something about the night sky that is lit up with stars. I had planned to get up and go look at the moon this morning when the blood moon was to occur but was just too sleepy..so I missed it. I just love the idea of strange happenings in the skies. I can remember one year when we had an eclipse of the sun. I was working at a teacher center then and we got pictures of it on blueprint paper. Can't remember how as our science techie did it. But we did get welder's glasses to look at it. I've seen a few eclipses of the moon. Thought it was interesting that someone wrote why the moon eclipses were being brought to attention due to corresponding with the Jewish holidays. Though I am a Christian, I have traced my blood line through my mother's side of the family to a Jewish musician back in Denmark. And I have been to Israel and would go for an extended visit if I could afford it. But as for fearing of the things happening....I'm not. I know it is predicted in the Bible for things to happen but really if you know where you will wind up after death then things shouldn't matter that happen on this earth. (ok enough of my soap box stand)

We had a light freeze this morning and think it got about half our fruit. We are to have another in the morning so guess it will get the rest. I'm really not too upset about it as we still have fruit in the freezer and lots of jams and jellys so really looking at it being less work this summer. I am worried about our fig tree as usually by this time it has tiny leaf buds. It is a blessing it hasn't put out yet but then the deep freezes we had this winter may have killed it back. It will come back out from the roots if it did but then will be several years before it fruits again. Thankfully I have lots of fig preserves put up. It did bite our potatoes back but usually when it bites the leaves the plants produce more potatoes. It didn't seem to bother the lettuce and we picked the asparagus close but noticed some popped up today.

On a crafty note....I finished the hooking on this new rug and will get it bound today and tomorrow and then will hopefully get it blocked before Saturday. We have our main shopping of the month in the city this week too.

I'm doing so much better on my walking. My back has been hurting but I'm still walking. I've kept my calorie range in check too.

I didn't see moon either. I slept right through it, too bad it didn't happen the night before because that is when I had to get up and go to the hospital to do an ultrasound exam exam on a patient. I haven't. checked my plants yet. Some that I thought I had lost during the last ice age here were coming back.

I heard about that moon but I missed it; I wish I would have known then I would have peeked outside last night.

Very interesting about your family tree; my dad's side of the family came from Denmark. I've never gotten very far though trying to do any research.

Strange sounds

Monday, April 14, 2014

A few weeks ago someone posted some links to youtube on facebook. They were videos of strange trumpet sounds in the air. I have read about the trumpets in the Bible and also have seen lately that there are more and more signs of Jesus coming. I've seen articles about the blood moons and just this morning on the early news the weather forcaster mentioned the blood moon. I had not thought much about these and know many people can fake the trumpet sounds in the skies. But......

This morning as the temps were dropping, we heard some strange sounds. At first I thought it was wind but strangely the trees were not moving. Then I thought maybe it was military helicopters as they do fly overs in our area a lot. It also sounded like trains but the nearest train track was removed a few years ago. Then I thought maybe it was an earthquake. I've heard one quake in our area years ago and we do have hot springs in our area. Also on the Mississippi River side of our state is known for the largest fault line in the USA...but the house was not moving. I went outside trying to figure it out and still couldn't...so I don't know what it was.???? Here is a youtube link. There are many others and some are fake and other's not..you decide.

I also think it is very interesting. The Last Days are so full of Fear. Mans heart will be full of fear and fail him.
People have the strangest unrealistic fears latly. Depression and hate are so prevalent even from people who don't normally act that way.
Guard your heart from Fear and seek the Lord.
Have a great day thanks for posting this Blog.

I don't know about your strange sounds, but I can explain the "blood moon" business.

There is a full lunar eclipse tonight. This means that the moon, the Earth and the Sun are all lined up with the Earth in the middle - the moon is in the Earth's umbra, or shadow. The moon isn't completely invisible though - because of the angle at which the light from the sun passes through the Earth's atmosphere, the moon appears reddish. This is where the name "blood moon"comes from. There will be another total lunar eclipse sometime this autumn - I forget exactly when. There are between two and five lunar eclipses each year, although not all of them are full eclipses.

Sometimes the full moon in October is called the Blood Moon. This, like another traditional name, the Hunters Moon, is referring to the fact that October is when animals were slain to prepare for the long winter ahead.
