O my aching back!!!

Monday, June 10, 2013

This picture pretty well describes how my back feels. I am seriously thinking of calling the doctor and having him prescribe PT. It has mainly hurt in the lower part but now is hurting in the middle back as well. It makes my legs feel like lead weights.

I know some will say go to the chiropractor but I can't. I have weak joints and bones and last time I went to one, my hip collapsed so can not chance my other hip going out as well. A massage helps but know I mainly need to strengthen my core and abs to give this weak back extra support. I am resorting to my back brace and hate how it constricts me but it is either that or more pain. I only take my pain meds at night as don't like the outer space feeling I get in the daytime with them.

I'm having trouble getting my 30 minutes of walk time in. I'm having to do it in 10 minute increments and the high humidity we have right now doesn't help either. Sorry for moaning. I usually don't complain but think this pain is finally getting to me.

I will give it a couple more days before calling the doctor.

Am praying that your back begins to be restored as you go slowly with each activity and rest cycle during the day. Do gradual stretches help you?

Take it slow and give your back a couple of days to rest before you try to do too much; you will be glad in the long run!

Did you know smiling makes you happy. Smiling makes other people happy too. And also makes them wonder what you are up to.

Life is a bowl of cherries!!!

Saturday, June 08, 2013

We have one cherry tree which is hard to pick and too big to net to keep the birds out. We also have some bush cherries. The tree cherries are smaller than those you buy in the stores and they are sour..made for pies and jams mainly. The bush cherries are even smaller but much sweeter. We did manage to pick 2 gallons of cherries this year before the birds wiped them out. And I put up 8 pints of jam from that.

Our plums are beginning to ripen and have been battling the squirrels over them this year. Usually they wait to attack the peaches. Due to all the rain, we have 16 tomato plants left that did not drown. We had planted 42 so way over half were lost. We have also lost some green beans. We really needed the tomatoes this year to replenish our supply of salsa. So guess we will head down south to the tomato shed later on this summer and buy some for our salsa this year. Other people around here who have gardens have been having the deer to eat their tomatoes. Never heard of deer eating them but guess there is a first time. We keep the pests out with an electric fence around out garden. But with the loss this year from too much rain is sad. The time and expense we have put into the garden to have it happen. O well!! Live is a bowl of cherries..some good and some bad in every bowl.

Your cherries look so very good! Glad you got some before the birds. So sorry about your tomatoes and green beans. Our gardens in NH are just beginning, but we also know the hazards. For us it was dryness that did many tomato plants in one year, so we decided to use containers. Of course 42 of them would be a lot! We have five hanging and seven in ground pots. Our green beans are just poking through the soil as we had to wait until Memorial Day in order to avoid frost. Thanks for sharing!

9 bags full

Friday, June 07, 2013

Sorry for the awful photo as my camera has quit and this was the best I could do...but am so excited. My friend who is also a rug hooker had gifted me before with 7 garbage bags full of wool. Well she called again and dropped off some wool for me at the art gallery. So went to get it and found 9 bags full this time. These are 33 gallon size bags. I went through it and sorted by colors and rebagged 6 bags and took to store in the apartment up the hill. The other 3 bags I'm cutting right away as it is wonderful plaid wools. If you know anything about plaid wool...usually it is thin but this is the good stuff and thick enough to use for hooking. And plaids give a texture to a rug that solid wool colors don't. Also I finished the commission rug. If you look at the log cabin and the wool in the background around the aspen leaves you will see that I used brown plaid wool in those sections..It gave it a wood texture to it.

guess now I'm going to have to get busy and hook my arse off. Maybe that will help in weight loss. emoticon

So do you unravel the fabric to use the wool or were these bags of wool yarn? That sounds like a tremendous amount of work. I have several old cashmere sweaters that have moth holes that make them unwearable. Are they something that someone would want? I have not taken them to goodwill because I don't want to give them something with holes.

Grand dogs

Thursday, June 06, 2013

Our kids are going on vacation and they asked us to keep their 3 dogs. Well they only brought 2 (seen here). Their big bull dog they left at home and someone will come feed her as they wanted her to guard the place while they are gone.

But here is Sophie (daschund) and Jackson (cockapoo). We were a little afraid that our little Gracie (out inside dog) will adjust to them ok, but she is fine. We have kept Jackson before and knew there wouldn't be any problems with him but Sophie is a little different. We have had daschunds and know how they can be a one person or one family dog but she has really warmed up to us all nicely. Though I had forgotten how nosey that daschunds could be. But what is so funny is Jackson loves water and it has been raining today so he has been begging to go out. When the thunder rolls, he runs to the door and barks. Funniest thing to watch.

Over all they are being sweet dogs.
