Wonderful! My MIL used to collect owls, she would have loved these! And the recipes sound yummy. We've made these slippers before, they really work!

I am amazed at how much you accomplish, what a great job! Loved the chicken wire background image, chickens are my favorite design element. I found a bolt of chicken wire design fabric, and put it away along with some vintage style feedsack fabric with chickens, and some other assorted poultry prints. Not sure what they will be someday, but they make me smile when I see them!

I have a prim stuffed chicken in the kitchen, as well as some chicken trivets and trays. Love those prim chix!

Wonderful job! I just made a small jar of rose vinegar when I made the jar of chive blossom vinegar. They are the loveliest shade of rose pink. I love rose syrup, and you can put rose geranium leaves in the bottom of muffin tins when pouring the batter. The rose flavor can infuse the muffin. I want to make rose water this year, gotta hurry, the old moss roses are almost done!

All the things you made are so lovely, I'm so impressed!

My favorite cuties are the frogs; and also the crochet part. Of course if you've seen my wallpaper on my page you know I love lavendar fields ... but with vodka? I also highly recommend you ask MamaSally if she knew that WD40 shags flies away from cows -- hahahaha -- oh, I want to be there for that one! Oh and you should tell Smashy about the fireants, as I recall she's always getting bitten by them ... or did she say they were grease ants?

Okay, consider your fur stroked! Good job!

cabbage contest

Thursday, May 28, 2009

My granddaughter was in a cabbage growing contest at school. Today was her last day and so she took her cabbage in. Noone else had grown one so she won by default. But she was so proud of the cabbage. She brought the plant out to our house early spring and we planted it with her. Her Pappa kept it fertilized and sprinkled with bug dust and it really got bigger than any you buy in the grocers. She told everyone at school today that she was going to cook it for supper. Her mom is teaching her and her sisters how to cook so imagine they all will become as great a cook as their mom. She is really raising them right and teaching them to eat their veggies and drink lots of water.

Your granddaughter looks quite of her cabbage. So many children don't know anything about growning vegetables.

Over 30 years ago when I was den mother for my son's cub scout group I had the boys to plant a row of cucumber (not hills). I think that was the biggest and best cucumber turnout I ever had. I was trying to keep them busy that day.

So wonderful! Imagine, a whole class with a challenge, and only one actually tried? So glad your family was the one that put the effort into the project! They're the ones that are learning, good for all of you!
