Wonderful job! I just made a small jar of rose vinegar when I made the jar of chive blossom vinegar. They are the loveliest shade of rose pink. I love rose syrup, and you can put rose geranium leaves in the bottom of muffin tins when pouring the batter. The rose flavor can infuse the muffin. I want to make rose water this year, gotta hurry, the old moss roses are almost done!

All the things you made are so lovely, I'm so impressed!

My favorite cuties are the frogs; and also the crochet part. Of course if you've seen my wallpaper on my page you know I love lavendar fields ... but with vodka? I also highly recommend you ask MamaSally if she knew that WD40 shags flies away from cows -- hahahaha -- oh, I want to be there for that one! Oh and you should tell Smashy about the fireants, as I recall she's always getting bitten by them ... or did she say they were grease ants?

Okay, consider your fur stroked! Good job!

cabbage contest

Thursday, May 28, 2009

My granddaughter was in a cabbage growing contest at school. Today was her last day and so she took her cabbage in. Noone else had grown one so she won by default. But she was so proud of the cabbage. She brought the plant out to our house early spring and we planted it with her. Her Pappa kept it fertilized and sprinkled with bug dust and it really got bigger than any you buy in the grocers. She told everyone at school today that she was going to cook it for supper. Her mom is teaching her and her sisters how to cook so imagine they all will become as great a cook as their mom. She is really raising them right and teaching them to eat their veggies and drink lots of water.

Your granddaughter looks quite of her cabbage. So many children don't know anything about growning vegetables.

Over 30 years ago when I was den mother for my son's cub scout group I had the boys to plant a row of cucumber (not hills). I think that was the biggest and best cucumber turnout I ever had. I was trying to keep them busy that day.

So wonderful! Imagine, a whole class with a challenge, and only one actually tried? So glad your family was the one that put the effort into the project! They're the ones that are learning, good for all of you!

busy time of the year

Thursday, May 21, 2009

Well we got back from our vacation to Branson, Missouri. Here is the map of our journey. Since we have been home, we have been so busy in the garden and also driving around checking camping sites. We would really like to camp and fish soon but we will go midweek to beat the crowds. Right now the lakes are still to high to camp or fish so it may be up into June before those outings occur. I'm hoping my sister comes for an over night stay this weekend. If she does, we plan to do a couple of day hikes.

Lake outing

Friday, May 08, 2009

We went fishing on the lake last Friday and I got this neat picture of the sun going down. It was such a beautiful day to end in a weekend with over 4 inches of rain. We had more rain earlier this week for a total of 9 inches this week alone. We have had 3 glorious days of sunshine but rain is due back.

I love the lake as it is so serene and calming. Such a good place to relax. One thing I've had to learn is to relax. I've always been hyper but over the years with the RA, I've had to learn patience and to relax...really relax. It really helps our bodies to heal and to become a healthier person.

Did you catch any fish? I love fishing too. It is a good time to connect with my thoughts, nature, and God.

Take care and thanks for posting the photo.

I really liked the picture. I really like to be near the water. I can't go out in any boat that isn't calm.

I have been on a few day riverboat cruises that were fun and a couple of evening ones. I like looking out over the water
