We found Gracie on the side of the road down from our house. She had a little brother who was almost dead. She was so thin that you could count her ribs and she had so little hair she looked bald. She smelled awful as well. She weighed less than 4 pounds. We brought them both home and the little male dog didn't last long but she began to thrive with care. We bathed her immediately which she seemed like she had never experienced that. We named her Gracie as it was only by the grace of God that we stopped to pick her up. We had passed her by 4 times that day. It was a wonder she hadn't gotten run over. We fed her and loved her and could tell she had not had either one. In fact we began to think she had been abused. After we had her a couple of weeks and thought maybe she might cintinue to live, we took her into the vets...He weighed her at a little above 4lbs. He checked her out and gave her a shot and we took her back home. We scheduled to have her neutered several months later. About a year after we had her, we took a trip to Branson and left Gracie in the back laundry room with her doggie door. For the entire 3 days we were gone, she never touched her food and don't think she slept. We did not realize she had bonded with us so much. Well now it has been 4 years. She is attached to us more than ever though still has her moments that she gets scared. But as you can see by the picture, she is thriving. She has turned into a fat little thing. In fact she was so fat at her last vet visit that we had to put her on a diet. She has only lost about 2lbs I can truthfully say that Miss Gracie and I are on the same path together losing the weight we both so need to lose to get health.
