I do a few blogs on blogspot and thought I would share my little gnomes home spot. I started this blog to showcase our home and my gnome garden and you will find photos there in previous posts of the different parts of our place. I am also showcasing my hooked rugs but only have some of my latest ones up there..The ones I've done years ago, I have not put up photos. I love working with my hands and making little whimsical things. I decided to make a little pin cushion and used an old zinc canning lid for the base. The material I love working with the best is wool. Since I have a big stash of wool fabric, I look for other ways to use it besides hooking rugs. I hand dye most of my own wool though use alot of "as is" wool. I buy woolen clothing in thrift shops in the winter and then order only white, black or red online. I live in too temporate a climate for fabric stores here to sell wool. Anyway I hope you like my little gnome pincushion.

Busy as a bee

Today has been a fantastically busy day for me. First the Sears repair man came around 8a.m. Then I had so many errands to run. And of course had to drag along the hubby..But he is good for packing and unpacking the truck when shopping. First he dropped me off at Hobby Lobby while he went to deal with Sears. I went for a purpose but didn't find what I wanted but came out with something else I had been wanting....Patternmaker for cross-stitch. I used a 40%off coupon so got it much cheaper than ordering online. Picked up a few beading needles and needle threaders and a tiny cross stitch kit for one of the granddaughters who is having a birthday this week. Then we went to Sam's and did our heavy item shopping for the month. While there I picked up a double chocolate chip cookie cake..It is also for the DGD so it will stay at her house and not come home with me tomorrow. Got lots of good walking in while out and about. I found out why I tend to walk so fast. (hubby is always complaining about me leaving him behind) and found out today that when I walk fast my back doesn't hurt as bad...so will be picking up my pace walking from now on...
Now the rest of the day besides my daily walk...I plan to make 7 bunnies for Easter..I do bunnies each year for the grands...
Tomorrow looks to be almost as busy. I have appointment to get my hair cut tomorrow and then we have to deliver the cake and ice cream for the birthday girl..With just losing a few pounds and warming weather, I'm finding I have much more energy.

Only mistake I made today was I weighed..and looked like I had gained..boohoo...but had a time last night with indigestion so think it is bloating instead..

(Also if you look hard enough at the picture you will see a busy honey bee. This photo was taken about 3 weeks ago when the peach trees were in bloom)

    Wow! Sounds like a very busy day! I have heard of Hobby Lobby's but have never been in one. Our closest is a few hours away, but I may make it there one of these days. I take a floral design class, and it has been the topic of conversation at a couple of the classes. Always rave reviews!

    You were very busy. Glad I'm not the only one who walks off and leaves her husband behind when shopping . He is learning to pick up a little speed (or just agree to meet me at some part of the store). Espically when we are going for a walk in neighborhood.

Baby Steps for a week

One of the things asked today to do is to list our baby steps in the 5% challenge team.
So here are mine:

Add 5 minutes to my walk time this week.
Do some house work every day even if only 5 minutes (to stay ahead)
Declutter spots each day.
Cut out more carbs like breads this week. Instead of 2 breads a day cut to 1
Cut out more fats and substitute for good fats.

I may add more later and edit this post but for right now these are my baby steps for this week.

    Baby steps is something that I really need to learn how to do instead of getting so overwhelmed I do nothing.

Nope didn't have a Sundae but for some reason today I was wanting more food. I didn't indulge though..been a good little bunny...I still have the evening hours to go but already have my rice krispie cereal measured out for a snack. I will eat them plain as I am wanting some major crunching..and for soem reason crunching really helps me. When I was super skinny in my teens and 20's I used to crunch ice..but dentist today frowns on me doing that..something mental in me that just needs to crunch. Rice krispies seem to do the trick for me..
On exercise today...got a 10 minute walk in around the place. Hubby and I have really gotten it looking nice. And I also got another 15 minutes in vacuuming and mopping. My back is paying for it now..but will rest and tomorrow do my arm and core exercises. I will enjoy the outdoors more tomorrow as the yard looks so nice....and then a surprise!!! the oldest son is coming over..He lives quite some distance and rarely ever comes so this will really be a treat.

On to greater things with the Awesome A's...

Well this is the start of my 2nd week of the 5%challenge. I have lost 2 lbs this week and feel so much lighter and healthier. I have been walking mainly for my exercise. I've really been fighting the pollen allergies but still doing ok. Today I have found it hard to get the calories I needed. My stumach has really shrunk and I haven't been hungry so that is a good thing but know I need to do this at a steady pace and not all at once. So I will be snacking this evening for a change but since I have already measure my snacks and have them ready and know exactly what I can eat, it will be a trial for me to see if I can even eat it. It is amazing what a week of really measuring and trying to lose and exercising will do. And then the nice weather has been an added bonus. So I'm hoping and praying that the loss continues for this 2nd week.
