Living the Past

Saturday, May 26, 2012

I just love this saying and it really reminds us that we can't go back and live our past...once it is gone...it is gone for good...so we need to concentrate on the present and plan somewhat for the future but still you never know what the future holds for your life so enjoy each moment as they come. Do your yourself and making yourself healthy in the present moment and don't regret the past or worry about the future.

Under the 200 mark

Friday, May 25, 2012

I'm giving myself flowers..gardenias that is...(bush is in full bloom)...but it is to celebrate finally making it under 200lbs...just by half a pound but hey I will take all I can get..last time I weighted I was 201 so that is a drop of a pound and a half...I'm so excited...and really have been naughty this week and ate at the top of my calorie count and also didn't log them in like I should have this week...so it is surprising to me. Tomorrow is my official weigh date so maybe I will be down that other half pound..I can wish anyway..It has been so slow this time around but has been steady...about half a pound a week...and I will take that anytime...the longer it takes to get there, then I can enjoy the trip that much more..

Have a great memorial day weekend..no plans for me..I don't do the rush at this time of year.

gold fish pond idea

Thursday, May 24, 2012

I always wanted a gold fish pond ever since I was a child and happened to stumble across one while visitng some friends who lived in the country. They had not kept up their pond well and it was over grown with vegetation. In fact I think they had forgotten it was even there. So several years ago we picked up 2 round bathtubs at a salvage company. They were big, deep and round. We sunk both in a small hillside beside our house. One is above the other. Hubby tried to fix a waterfall between them but we couldn't keep the water from pumping out of the top one and then seeping our around the edge of the waterfall feature. We were refilling the ponds daily it seemed so we just removed the pump. In the many years that we have had them, we have planted ivy around them and added water lilies. This year we added gold fish. We had gold fish before but one severe winter the water froze completely and so the fish froze with it...We bought our gold fish at a bait stand near us. It seems some fishermen use them for bait. So feel like we have rescued the ones we bought. We had to buy them by the pound and didn't realize how many were in a pound. We probably have a dozen in each pond..But they seem to be thriving. Our granddaughters sure enjoy looking for the fishys..

How fun! The tubs are a great idea for the ponds. I hope you get to enjoy the fish for many hours this summer :-)

Sleeping Dogs Lie

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

Dogs have an uncanny ability tto sleep just about anywhere. I'm at the age where I struggle to get a good night's sleep. I've never been one to like taking naps, even when I was a kid. It seems to upset my stomach to sleep in the daytime any longer than 15 minutes. I can sleep in a moving vehicle easier. But my nights are so unpredictable. I may sleep 8 hours and then the next 2 nights sleep 6...My average is around 7 hours. But some nights I rarely even sleep or don't sleep deep enough. I have set a routine and that does help as well as a little milk an hour before bed. I sometimes envy my dogs to be able to sleep like they do...anywhere, anytime and anyplace..rocks, dirt, benches, chairs, etc..doesn't matter to them. They also know how to enjoy life to the fullest.

I'm going to try to take notice of them more and try to be more like them...sleep more and enjoy life more.

Looks like the dogs are certainly enjoying the sunshine as they nap!

I am working on sleep as one of my current goals. Not going so well, as I am now 4 for 4 of getting less than 7 hours of sleep per night. If I sleep at all during the day it messes my nights up even more. I am trying to get into a routine to see if that will help.

Little garden friends

Sunday, May 20, 2012

Many of you know I have a little gnome garden. Besides this one area, I have little garden friends hidden out around other places of the garden. Some are gnomes and some are just other little creatures. The grand daughters love coming out and finding the little friends hidden in our garden. It also seems we are constantly changing by adding to or taking away from certain areas. I just love our yard and garden areas so much. Now that the weather is getting hotter and the humidity is rising, I try to get out early mornings and enjoy a walk and drink my tea. I also love hooking on my rugs at this time of the day. My little garden friends keep me company.
