I've never been one to take a nap even as a child..it seems to give me a belly ache but mainly I think it keeps me from sleeping well at night so I usually avoid naps. I have taken a cat nap for 10-15 minutes and seems not to bother me as much but then may still have the sleepless night if I do. I've always been hyper by nature and could never sit still..Even when I sleep at night, I tend to toss and turn and kick so when I wake in the morning, the covers are everywhere. The pulmonary doctor was concerned and said I had restless leg syndrome but I just explained that I've been that way as a child..I just don't want to be medicated for something that I've always done. But I have to really try to make myself stay in bed in the mornings when I wake at 4 a.m...and usually I will manage another hour or 2..but by 6a.m. I'm ready to get up..I usually go to bed around 9:30 or 10 and will read for about 30 minutes to an hour..it seems to lull me to sleep..We do not have tv in our bedroom. I also found that a nice HOT bath seems to relax me enough to sleep better...Another thing I've found out about my sleep is I do not sleep well if I can see any light..and our appliances around the house are lit up like Christmas trees..so much so that I can walk through the house at night without any extra light..also I struggle when there is a full moon..but I have found sleep masks at Walmarts so have purchased a few and make sure I go to sleep with one on..it has sure made a difference on my sleep time. I'm still more restless on full moons but now I can sleep some.
