Assignment 2:Ok I have revamped my sparkpage and added new profile picture.
Assignment 3:Today's assignment is to list all the reasons you want to lose weight. What do you want to change? How do you want to look? How do you want to feel? What things will you be able to do in the future with a slimmer healthier body? And list all the OTHER things that you want to change!
1. Reasons I want to lose weight..mainly to get healthier. Along with getting healthier I will begin to look better as well and feel much better about myself.
2. Reason...I have 2 major trips planned next year and want to be in shape and smaller to enjoy myself more. I want to fit the plane seats comfortably and also to travel in our camper easier.
3. What I want to change is the amount of exercise I have been getting. I want to step up and do more in that way to become much healthier in the process.
4. I want to feel proud of myself that I have accomplished my goal.
5. The things I will be able to do once I'm slimmer is to walk longer distances and be able to go on tours easier.
6. Lastly I want to change my attitude toward exercise...I don't want it to feel like a burden and I want to enjoy it instead of mumbling awful things about it..So the attitude change will be a biggie for me as well.
5% Challenge Commitment. How much and how often will you exercise? What diet will you follow? How will you support your team?
Just a little happy to lift your spirits.
I've joined the 5% challenge for Fall. This will be my 3rd time to do this challenge and so far have loved it and have lost each week I am a part of this. I've not lost my 5% but have lost at least half a pound a week during the 8 week challenge period. This fall challenge I think will be the turning point for me. It will be the most important challenge I've done so far as usually during this time of year, I want to eat and eat comfort foods which are so fattening..It is like my body thinks it is a bear and wants to stock up before hibernation. I refuse to go into hibernation this year...So here are my goals.
How much and how often will you exercise? --
I plan to continue my 20 minute walking daily and up it by 20minutes.
I plan for this walking to be at a faster pace.
I plan to add arm exercises and more core exercises.
I plan to do dancing when the weather doesn't allow me to walk.
What diet will you follow?
I'm going to continue to track my calories here on SP and make sure I eat on the downside of my calorie range. I plan to eat more vegetables and fruit. While I still have my apples from my tree in cold storage, I plan to eat at least one apple a day or more. I plan to eat more green veggies and substitute sweet potatoes for white potatoes more often.
How will you support your team? Hopefully I will again be on the Awesome A's and so will check in with them in the general chat forum at least every other day. I will post my mile and life points daily. I will post a comment to someone's blog daily as well.
I'm so looking forward to the start of this as soon as possible.
A couple of shots of an American persimmon tree and a Texas variety fig. We had a good amount of both this year and still picking up a few persimmons.
Someone asked about the birdhouse...we have them everywhere and yes that one was on a poll and supposed to be for purple martins but even though they check it out each year they have never nested in it..sadly...they are great for bug control.
This is an old garden cart and we plant it with the faux sweet potato vines every year...they seem to do much better in our harsh summers. We planted 4 varieties.
I can hear you laughing now. We started out with 1 and it is pale pink..my sister was throwing it out..I grabbed it up and planted it down by our mailbox for years..Well a few years ago we remodeled one of our bathrooms and so I added the 2nd one and then about a year ago we redid the other bath so now I have 3...do you think it is enough? O and yes that is a birdhouse on the window sill made from a teapot. The POTs are planted with rock rose..beside it is an old wheelbarrow and it is planted with more faux sweet potatoes...one of my garden gnomes sits in the center of it but you can't see it..I also plant in old washing machine tubs from newer washers and I also have 3 old wringer washers I plant in..2 have ivy..one has asparagus fern.
We planted this silver lace vine this year and should have had a bigger trellis but it didn't grow as much as it was supposed to anyway due to the heat and drought so we will cut it back a lot and build a new bigger trellis for it to grow on..It has been blooming since end of June. Hubby doesn't like it but I do.
Speaking of vines, we lost 2 clematis we planted this spring due to drought and we were even watering them. We plan to plant morning glories more next year. We have morning glories planted on our back yard fence.
A picture of our side yard..further away and up close. you can see the fig and muscadine in the further away photo. We have 3 shacks or what we call gazebos..one is over our patio table and smaller one is over our BBQ pit area and large one to the left is over the firepit..we still have to put down gravel in the fire pit area. We haven't used it yet as it has been too hot but cooler days are coming.
That's all folks.
We ordered some nut tress a few years ago..One was supposed to be almond and one pecan and 2 English Walnuts..we lost one last year to drought but they all had the same looking leaf on them so apparently they sent us all the same tree and not the ones we had ordered..We are thinking these 3 tress are chessnuts..Anyway this is what they look like.
This is the garden at the end of the season. Most have been pulled up and disked under..but we still have some peppers, okra and now a nice small stand of turnip greens.
Our muscadine grape arbor...We cut it way way back every spring..give it a nice hair cut and you can understand why when you see it now. It is usually cut back all the way to the top and it grows this much in a season. If you don't cut it, then the fruit won't set well. It is a type of wild grape and they do not grow in clusters like regular grapes..they have a tough skin and lots of seeds but they make the best jam and also taste pretty good as well.
These are our two outside yard dogs..They guard the place pretty well but would take someone down and love them to death..the top is Fredrick and bottom is Lulu..both were rescue dogs..Fred was so shy when we got him and took him forever to come up for a pet..Lulu is top dog and loves to try sneaking into the house if you open the door and don't watch her..she also loves riding on the ATV.
This is what they like to do all day. Freddy rolls lulu around and then they chase each other but if Lulu gets tired of it, she puts Fred in his place..
This is Miss Gracie our other rescue dog..she is the oldest of the 3 but she stays inside..she thinks she is our kid..
You know I was thinking (bad idea a lot of times) that they have patches people wear to keep them from smoking and patches to deliver hormones...why can't they come out with a patch to keep people from feeling hungry.
Fall is definitely almost here...when we get cooler drier weather like we have had yesterday and today, my body thinks it is time to stock up for the winter. I've not eaten beyond my calorie count I'm allowed but I have come close these last 2 days. I do need that patch...maybe I could do like Maxine says and put some duct tape over my mouth...
