You know I was thinking (bad idea a lot of times) that they have patches people wear to keep them from smoking and patches to deliver hormones...why can't they come out with a patch to keep people from feeling hungry.

Fall is definitely almost here...when we get cooler drier weather like we have had yesterday and today, my body thinks it is time to stock up for the winter. I've not eaten beyond my calorie count I'm allowed but I have come close these last 2 days. I do need that patch...maybe I could do like Maxine says and put some duct tape over my mouth...

They do have patches actually. Sad to say I fell for the gimmick and tried them. They did suppress my appetite, but mainly because I had such bad heartburn that I couldn't face putting anything in my stomach. Not exactly a success.

I don't think you need a patch, you stuck in your ranges so you obviously have great will power : )

You are doing an awesome job adjusting for the seasonal effects on your calorie requirements. Being aware is so important, then you can make adjustments where needed. You can do it!!!!

They don't have patches but i seen weight loss chewing gum around here, i have not tried it yet, i may look into it though, but i am thinking it be another fad fail thats why i have not tried it yet. But a patch it would be good, I don't think you could get enough air if you duct your mouth to breath and you probably end up with rotting teeth from not brushing them lol, Maxine is to see the funny side not the real way, maybe in future the patch will come out.

SP friends

Friday, September 07, 2012

When I started here in 2008, I met a few people on SP that were from my state and even lived on my side and pretty near but I never took the time to meet any in real life. I had an opportunity once but something came up and I couldn't make it..so on one of my teams this week, one of these ladies had mentioned she was doing Mountain Fest which is a craft fair..So I got my DIL and we drove over and of course we couldn't find it as last time I ever went there which was probably over 10 years ago they had it up on a big mountain..well unknown to me they had moved it down the mountain and into a building owned by Christian Motorcycle Assoc..so we finally found it and I finally met my first SP friend face to face...MA is so sweet and had so much in the way of crafty things there..But it was just so nice to finally put a face to a name..The visit was just too short but since I rode with my DIL and she had to be back early, I really didn't get to visit as much as I would like..

Next time I'm up that way I'm getting in touch with Nims and try to meet her...such sweet people!!!

Except for the heat and humidity, I had a really nice day.

Glad you had a nice visit. I met my first Spark friend a few weeks ago and we went for a long walk together. Last night I met another five Sparkers who live locally. We decided to sign up for a diabetes walk together a few months ago, and finally met for the first time last night. The walk is next week, and I'm lookinig forward to hanging out with them again.

Not a good day!!

Thursday, September 06, 2012

It has not been a good day for me...First it is still in 100+temps and humidity is so high that it makes it hard to breathe. Went for a walk early and did something to my knee and now can hardly walk. I've kept my heated rice bag on it all day and rubbed with the perscriptiong Rx for inflamation..but also think a cool front is coming as other joints are achy as well..

I got some computer work done today but not near the amount I wanted to finish...seems I've been busy but just not accomplished much. I know being retired it doesn't matter if I get things done but just the way I'm made..But really I've ached so today that it has not been a really good day.

On diet..it is doing ok..haven't gained but haven't lost..and hopefully the knee will be better tomorrow to walk some. I'm wanting to go to a craft festival tomorrow but wanted my DIL to go and not sure she will yet.

Another bad news is my sister is going to have to have back surgery..she has put it off until she no longer can..she has a cruise planned first of October and the surgery planned for end. I really worry about her having this done but she is in so much pain now all the time. So I understand where she is coming from. I'm just hoping she will be well in time for the trip to England.

Well will pray for her and now going to go stitch awhile.

I hope your aches and joints heal up quickly and you can go on with your daily tasks, sometimes i sleep with compression bands to help aching ankles or knees. I have still sore ankle from my break few years ago just the left one, and the knee sometime plays along since there is alot more weight put onto that knee i guess my weight + the break few years ago really stuffed things up for me but i am trying to get there and down with the weight and all. Hope that we both see good results soon :) Hope things go well with your sister and the surgery and trips. Enjoy your stiching

Just a thought for the day.....
We need to realize that beauty comes in all sizes...

Been busy lately so haven't taken the time to blog here...I've eaten on the high side of my calorie count lately...entering the fall of the year I get like this so will really have to watch myself closely in next few weeks..It is like I'm a bear or something and going to go into hibernations so it wants to stock up on food..But really haven't gained anything so maybe eating a little more isn't so bad at this point so that when I do start back to the low side of my calorie count, I will lose instead of stalling out..I have found out this is what my body does most of the time anyway..I hit a plateau and then will eat a tiny bit more for a week or 2 and then get back on the wagon and lose again..

I had one of my art guild meetings last night...got really upset...first this guild always serves a full course meal and I can't eat much after 5pm as it will bother me at night but did eat a tiny bit but not enough to bump my calorie count up and not the things that would set off my tummy problems..so did ok on that..but they had the building so cold...and I couldn't see the thermostat to turn it to warmer temps..It started my coughing spell...then noticed another lady coughing and she left to go outside and found out later she was the same as me..finally someone who knew where the thermostat was turned it warmer..but I was an icecube by then..Then I always like to head home quickly and usually the first to leave..well wound up being the last to leave....and this is what upset me...not leaving last but a new member had backed into the parking space beside my vehicle and I couldn't get in. He had plenty of room but with him backing in it was a tight fit for me..Having 2 knees and a hip replacement it is hard to twist around without hurting something..well about the time I had managed to get twisted to sit...my shoe fell off and the man walked up behind me..now here I am all twisted up and complaining loudly..so had to untwist and get out to retrieve my shoe...without him even offering to help..so then decided to wait on him to leave first..well he took a good 5 minutes putting his things in his back seat and then when he started his vehicle I thought I was going to be smothered...he had an awful gas leak and the fumes had me coughing more by this point..Finally he left and I had to drive partway home with the window down..The temps here at 8:30pm when I finally left was still in the 90's...and humidity is just awful...so was never so glad to get home. But really!!! you would thnk he would have had more manners and retrieved my shoe or at least told me he was sorry he parked so close...all he said as he pulled out was "now you can get in your vehicle" rudely!!! I told hubby when I got home and he felt like me that the man had no manners..and he was an older man and I expected more than that..I have taught my 3 sons to have good manners and if I ever hear otherwise, they will get a piece of their momma's mind...

Anyway thanks for reading..Rant is over...going to stich.

I'm always amazed at how common courtesy just isn't common anymore. So many people are thoughtless and lack manners. Sigh.

Maybe the man was never taught manners. He was rude. Thank goodness your Son's know how to be thoughtful and kind. I agree, beauty does come in all sizes.

Wow what a day you had, Yes you are a beautiful person. Hope for you to beat your plateau too, its hard when your on that plateau. Like i have been, but then i gained and now im loosing again so i am ok with it for now. That man was really rude, Hope you didn't hurt yourself whilst twisting and turning into that spot only to have to get over it. Good that you are able to rant and calm yourself with a stitch nice progress on your piece :)

Rain!!! and Weekend plans.

Friday, August 31, 2012

Well Isaac didn't quite come over much of my side of the state but we did get some much needed rain. Only 2.5 inches but it was alot better than we have had..Every little bit helps..Once it stopped you couldn't even tell it had rained as the ground just sucked it up..Hubby got out and tilled a spot in the garden to plant turnip greens. We will pick up the seed tomorrow and plant.

I have only walked once today and then stripped the beds and changed the linens on them. Been mainly working on the computer.

Sunday the youngest son and family and hubby and I are meeting at middle son's house after church for our noon meal..I'm making salad, a fruit tray and persimmon bread to take..The youngest son and family have not seen the middle son's new house since they moved in March..so will be a lot of fun seeing all the granddaughters. I promise to be good and not over eat.

We had good rain and much cloud cover and it is still very cool here and I LOVE IT. I so hope it stays or at least cools down a ton.

Sounds like a great wkend. Not sure what we are going to get up to. The fair started in Mena so Mom is there tonight with her BFF and I will hear all about it tomorrow when I call.

Ours will not start until the end of Sept and it is so big and crowded that we usually do not go. But we might make the one in Booneville with my Aunt Carma as it is smaller and reminds me of the one in Mena.

Have a wonderful wkend.
